Why Are Curfew Laws In Place No Minors Would Get Hurt I Mean Its Pointless

What would happen if the American government turned on its own people, and implemented martial law in the United States?

Consider what happened in the United States in the aftermath of 9/11. We've essentially suspended the writ of habeas corpus for terror suspects. They do not get a phone call. They do not get an attorney. They have lost all the rights the Constitution promises. Thanks to the Snowden disclosures, we see that the NSA monitors the various technologies that Americans use to communicate with one another. People who find their name on no-fly lists generally get no explanation for this action. It could take years to remove oneself from that list. News accounts indicate that our cars are monitored. EZ pass certainly makes the process easier. The use of CCTV is rapidly growing. A segment on 60 Minutes revealed how computer programs can locate the images people post on line and link them with the CCTV images. If the government is looking for you, if you live in a major city like New York or Washington, and if your image appears on Facebook or some other site, you'll be located fairly rapidly. Recall how in the period following the Boston bombing, that city was put under virtual lockdown. I can't think of any other time in our history that such a thing occurred. (Maybe some reader can supply an example.) All of this came as a result of the attacks that occurred on one day. Imagine what would happen if there were a series of attacks launched over a period of days. I don't see our government becoming evil. I do see the possibility that following a series of attacks, a panicked government will implement measures that, though intended to protect us, could further erode our liberties until they are just a memory. The frightening thing, in my opinion, is that such actions would probably be popular.

Why do parents spank teens?

Is it legal to spank a 16 yro? Yes.

Should the mom have bared her and spanked her where others could watch? Absolutely not.

Lots of teens get spanked, probably far more than anyone is willing to admit. Remember that paddling is legal in almost 1/2 the states in the US, if they do it in schools they are doing it at home. Spanking isn't always the right method but in some situations it can be. It really depends on the teen, the family and the misbehavior in question.

What are you supposed to do when a party gets busted?

New Year's is a particularly bad time for drunk driving, so chances are the cops will be out in full force. Which means there is a very high chance of them showing up at your party. While you legally don't have to answer the door for a cop, they're allowed to come in if they have reason to think something illegal is going on. So basically, if they show up, you're busted if you stay. Hiding is just stupid, because they're going to check all over the house to see if they find people. So clearly your only option is to split.

Your best bet is to run out the back and start jumping fences until you reach an area that's not crawling with cops, then walk from there. However, the trick is to avoid drawing attention to yourself while you're running. Make sure you stay in the dark and make as little noise as possible. If you find yourself dealing with motion-detector lights, run as quickly as you can while staying quiet. Once you reach a public area (field, road, etc.) that is cop-free, act casual. Don't stay there, because someone might call in to report a suspicious person and that would render your efforts to escape useless. Just start walking toward home or a friend's house.

Never, and I mean NEVER, acknowledge your phone going off while you're running. You may even want to turn the ringer off until you're home free. And whatever you do, DO NOT go back to the location of the party unless and until you have sobered up. Don't be fooled by someone saying it's safe to go back; cops are not above having someone text you to try and get you to come back as a form of entrapment. Once you're safely out of the area, go home or to another safe location, and DO NOT reveal your location to anyone.

Of course, you could just stay home. Honestly, if you're asking this question you're clearly paranoid about getting arrested and may be better off not even putting yourself in a situation where that's a possibility.

Is spanking detrimental to children?

I feel you should use common sense when spanking a child. If the child is old enough to understand the reason for the spanking and it is done out of love and concern and with care not to discipline when you are mad then it is not detrimental to the child. If it is done at the moment of anger and severe pain is inflicted then there should not be a spanking. Time out in a corner for a small child often gets their attention better than a spanking. Spanking used for every occasion soon become useless. Let the discipline fit the crime so to speak. Reserve the spanking for major offenses so they carry the impact you desire.
