Why Are Most Humans Trapped In Self Made Prisons Called Gender

What happens to transgender prisoners? Which prison are they put in?

Some of the answers here are a bit outdated for the US. I recently attended training to become certified in PREA - the Prison Rape Elimination Act. This is a federal mandate for jail standards. While it does, indeed, contain some standards for training and procedures to eliminate prison rape, it also has a bunch of provisions pertaining to this question of how transgender prisoners are housed.Boiled down to practical application, it goes like this: When a person is arrested and brought to the jail, one of the questions during the booking process will be, “How do you identify?” At that point, whatever sex the person claims to identify as will determine the cell block the person is put in. A person with a full beard and complete male “plumbing” who claims to identify as “female” will be put in the female cell block. Failure to do so on the part of the corrections staff means non-compliance with PREA standards and possible loss of certification. Since PREA law requires corrections staff to be PREA certified, this essentially means that the staff members in question would never be able to work in corrections again, anywhere in the country. Some might find it odd that a law called the “Prison Rape Elimination Act” requires prisoners with male plumbing to be housed with prisoners with female plumbing. Note that there can be no segregation for transgender prisoners, and complaints from female prisoners about the person who looks exactly like a man sleeping and showering with them in their cell block are not valid. If such a prisoner poses a danger to the women, as in a situation where he *gasp* lied about his sexual identity to get put into the women’s cell block for entertainment purposes, then he can be removed only after he demonstrates dangerous behavior, like actually raping one of the women (or, excessive “ogling,” etc.). The instructor for my class was unclear about how to deal with the argument that the person who looks exactly like a man but identifies as a woman might actually be a lesbian. This is the law. The parts dealing with rape elimination were passed several years ago by President Bush, and then the parts about the transgender stuff were added under President Obama. In many parts of the country, it is just starting to be implemented. As a sheriff’s deputy, I sometimes assist the corrections staff in our jail, so I had to take the full 2 day course designed for corrections officers.Prison Rape Elimination Act

Can inmates have consensual sex in prison?

Well yes, you can have consensual sex in prison.(as long as your not caught) The question should be, is it allowed? The answer to that is, absolutely not!! You're not even allowed to masturbate because it's considered self mutilation in some states. One of the reasons for this is to prevent the spread and outbreak of STDs, HIV and AIDS.After reading a couple of different answers, I must admit I was somewhat baffled. I read where a female was writing and referring to men prisoners with her answer. Then a male inmate referred to the fact that females can't legally consent. Let's get one thing clear, sex does go on in prison whether it be consensual or nonconsensual, aka rape. This includes both men and women. Yes folks both men and women. I can guarantee you if they say a female cannot legally consent, neither can a male. (consent isn't allowed anywhere in US prisons) I'm thinking this would probably fall under that little thing that we call discrimination, prejudice, I dont know there are probably a few more words that would be fitting to describe this practice. There was also a reference made as to “being gay for the stay”. (I think referring to homosexual men in particular, I could be mistaken) As was said before this does not exclusively deal with only one sex, it is practiced by both men and women. Yep, this happens too. Actually on quite a regular basis. Bottom line is we're human beings, and human beings are sexual creatures. It is a part of our make up, our DNA, human nature so to speak. So sex is going to happen in prisons and some of it will be consensual, they cannot stop it all.But as mentioned before, it's not allowed. If caught you will be disciplined for sexual misconduct, and whatever other rule infractions the specific institutions have against this. Will you have the occasional guard that maybe turns a blind eye to it if they happen to see it, sure. Now as far as consensual sex that is allowed in the prison setting. The ever so looks forward to conjugal visits. However, there are only four states left that currently allow conjugal visits, which are also known as “extended family visits”, and they do not exist in the federal prison system. The states that still allow these visits are California, Connecticut, New York and Washington. That is as close as you're going to get to inmates being able to have consensual sex in prison.

What does it feel like to be a transgender?

Great answers above . I certainly couldn’t improve on them.

My thought s would be that how it feels depends on many factors, the person them self, the intensity of the stress level it creates for them, how soon in life they discovered who they were, what they were able to do about it, could they transition , their finances, families, etc. Many things affect how someone feels.

For those that are able to transition life can be good. For others not so much.
For me early care, education, and family support were none existent so it pretty much feels like I was born in prison. Transition is not very likely and the life long GID has pretty much mentally worn me down and depression is my constant companion.

Why do people automatically make excuses for women's behavior?

without the whole example trap, if a man were to do some misdeed, people would be more likely to condemn him for his actions, whereas when a woman does the same thing, people suggest that there must be some reason why she did it.

Why is this the case?

What do you call a person who loves another person (of opposite gender) because that person has a beautiful name?

I would say that the person may love the name more than the person behind the name, but that could be a false assumption.
If you are asking as to if they're gay, straight, etc. then I honestly do not know of anything regarding loving a person's name.

Intervening to stop a crime can be called vigilantism; should men intervene to stop a rape?

"Intervening to stop a crime can be called vigilantism;"...wrong

"Intervening to stop a crime" to stop a crime in it's commission is heroic action.

vigilantism is pursuit of a criminal after the fact in lieu of police action.

If your terms are used correctly, your argument falls apart

Do prisons prove homosexuality is a choice?

No.  We're attracted to who we're attracted to, no matter who we are.  As a straight man, I have yet to see a single man who has inspired any romantic or sexual feeling in me.  I assume that most (if not all) gay people feel the same way about the opposite sex.I don't see where the choice would be.  I found women attractive long before I understood sex in any respect.I think that prisons prove one of two things, and I'm not sure which one, but neither of which is really in dispute:It's possible to find a non-sexual reason to have sex.  Prostitutes have been supporting this hypothesis for thousands of years.A lot of people who claim to be straight actually aren't, and will take any excuse to experiment, no matter how contrived.Carson was an excellent surgeon, and seems to have a reasonable handle on related issues (like his opposition to health insurance), but consistently puts his foot in his mouth when it comes to homosexuals especially and inclusiveness in general.
