Why Are Most Of Todays Movies Ripoffs

Are movies from the 1980s better than today’s movies?

~ Hi Friends, There are great movies in all eras…but I do think “yes” movies in the 80s are better in my opinion, also there are a lot of remakes and personally I haven’t seen one that I think I better then the original…(even if you add great actors and effects…and sometimes they rely on sexy to make it good)…it feels rushed or lack of character or taking time to really grab and audience…Old movies seem to have more depth, character, story line, symbolism, contrast, and overall creativity…here is a few…Total Recall2. Flowers in the Attic3. Carrie4. Willy Wonka - Charlie and Chocolate Factory

What are some ripoffs (games, movies, shows, books, clothes, software, etc.) you think are better than the original?

Oreos are probably the most successful ripoff in history. The original chocolate sandwich cookies were introduced in 1908 by Sunshine Biscuits and called Hydrox.Four years later, Nabisco debuted their Oreo sandwich cookies that pretty much copied the design and form of Hydrox.[1] Many people credit the branding as the reason for Oreos quickly supplanting Hydrox in the market, despite being a second comer[2] but I think taste has something to do with it too.Footnotes[1] The Sad History of Hydrox Cookies, Which Were Probably Doomed By Their Name[2] Oreo vs Hydrox and the importance of branding.

What movies do you feel were actually rip-offs of other previous movies?

Another one for Avataar...If you remember a not-so well known movie known as 'The Last Samurai'..Same story.. 1)A retired captain (similar to the ex-marine) enters japan with the purpose of training soldiers to fight the samurai (similar to the avataar program which is meant to infiltrate the Naavi)... 2)He somehow lands up right in the hands of the enemy i.e the samurai kidnap him on the order of their chief as he has seen a prophecy which relates to the captain (similar to the prophecy in avataar wherein the clan spiritual leader sees that Jake sully shall save the naavi).. 3)He slowly starts warming up to their ways and means. He realises that they are not savages as he is told... He unknowingly becomes one of them..4)Both of them gain something from their encounter with the 'savages'... Captain Algren finally gets rid of his contual nightmares and Jake sully gets a new leash on life (he is trained once more to be a warrior)... ohhhh, and ofcourse both get the girls...!5) And finally, they both return back to the 'savages' (The samurai and the Naavi respectively) and help them fight off the enemy.. The only small difference is that Jake sully is successful in his fight whereas Captain Algren is unable to alter the fate of the Samurai ( The samurai are all slaughtered)... PS : I love both movies.. The execution and the FX in Avataar are really mindblowing.. The creation of the universe of Pandora really is beyond words.. But I believe as far as performances go, The last Samurai scores much more points.. So I believe it's still better than avataar, though considerably less successful...

Are there any White Zombie rip-offs ?

I was wondering if there are any bands that rip-off Zombie's style, mostly Rob's vocals. Like Pantera got ripped-off by Throwdown and alot of other groove metal bands and Carcass has The County Medical Examiners that just flat out copy them. Please don't say Rob Zombie or Powerman 5000 and some random cover band.

Is the new movie "IN TIME" a ripoff of "LOGAN'S RUN"?

"Logan's Run" didn't have anything to do with spending time to purchase goods. They simply lived to a certain age then no more, keeping the population in check.

"In Time" DOES rip off this short:
The Price of Life (1987)
MDb review:
In the future, money is not the most valuable commodity~nor stocks nor shares. Instead, the currency of choice is time, and people are able to trade hours, days and weeks off their lives in exchange for services and goods. Into this world is born baby Zachary, who grows into a little boy with a game plan and a scheme to make more time, whereas his sister swaps weeks for sweets as if it didn't matter. As adults, Zachary has continued this path, but so has his sister, and he finds himself trying to challenge the rules to try to save her and his mother.

I've also heard there are a couple of stories that deal with the same notion. As far as I know, no other sources are credited; they seem to be claiming that "In Time" is original.
