Why Are So Many Southern Whites Racist

Is it racist to hate southern white people?

I am from West Virginia, do you hate me. And before you call southerners uneducated take a great look at the institutions of higher learning located there....Vanderbilt, UVA, Duke, Clemson, John Hopkins...These are where alot of south east and appalachain americans are educated. You are not racist just retarted.

How racist is the South in the U.S.?

The difference between the south and the rest of the country is segregation. No, not the segregation that ended in the 60s, a more modern segregation. This kind of segregation is not official and government backed like the real segregation of the 60s but it's very real in its own rightFirst you have to know where the black population is concentrated. This what a map of the United States with the areas of highest concentration of blacks looks like. The south land, Bible Belt, is where most blacks live in America. Thats important to keep in mind here. Here's a list of the most segregated cities in the united states, the top 1010. Los Angeles, California9. Boston, Mass8. St. Louis, MO7. Cleveland, OH6. Miami, FL5. Philadelphia, PA4. Chicago, IL3. New York City, NY2. Milwauki, Wi1. Detroit, MiOnly one those cities could be considered in the south (Miami). This is not an attempt to measure racism, but it gives some context here. Blacks live amongst whites in the south, they don't in the north. This isnt so much an answer to your question though, like i said, just context. I do think there are more outright open racists in the south, the kind that would be more likely to be "violent racists" as i would call them. But the fact is that racism is a problem throughout the country. Northerners are more likely to be the kind of "covert racists" who wouldn't dare express their racism aloud, but lock their cars when a black guy walks by, or are scared to even interact with the few blacks they see in their daily lives. Its a different kind of racism. Ive heard many blacks say they prefer the south's racism like Danielle Simon said. I've also heard many blacks say they faced more discimination in the north.

If the South is so racist, why do so many African-Americans live and work in Atlanta, Georgia?

I live about a mile from the Georgia/Tennessee border, and two hours from downtown Atlanta.Georgia is one of the original 13 British colonies. Many people from Africa were forcefully imported as slaves to Georgia during the Colonial era. (As an aside, there were notable and respected families of free Blacks in the colony mentioned in the annals of history from this time period as well, especially around Savannah.)Many individuals in and around Atlanta are descended from these original Black Americans, who came to the continent longer ago than many White Americans’ ancestors. Why should they leave their homes and families and lives, just because of a few silly racists?Besides, the Midwestern industrial towns are horribly cold. Most of my Black family do not tolerate cold well at all, and look at me askance when I walk outside in shorts and a sweater when the temperature is a sunny 50F. Atlanta is much better.

Do southern white people discriminate against Asians?

I have only visited the South briefly. However, I had a friend who lived in Jacksonville, FL for a number of years and then moved to the Bay Area. I believe he had a better experience in Jacksonville than in the Bay Area. He said in the South, they were initially ignorant, but not mean or hateful. They quickly embraced you. In contrast, Bay Areans, especially Asians, judged and excluded him. That’s because he was from the conservative South and did not fit into the “cool,” progressive mold that is so desirable in the Bay Area. Why are Republicans States(Red States) so racist ?

I've seen some history on voting that strongly indicates that it's white southern conservative racial concerns that have been prominent in determining why "southern states" have gone red ... Before the civil rights movement, white Democrats were the southern conservatives and they "owned" the KKK: And the southern African-American population predominantly voted Republican. But, after President Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act in 1964, southern white conservatives began voting Republican and southern blacks began voting Democrat. So, the southern states turned red, but, stayed just as racist.

I found this enlightening ... The vote in Congress on the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was essentially a continuation of the Civil War ... Union vs Confederacy over black/white issues.

Is the SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) a racist organization that has white genocide as it's main goal?

The SPLC (Southern Poverty Law Center) is a grotesque fraud.

They claimed to defend all and then began attacking the Right. Their leader turned out to be a racist and a womanizer and has been obliged to resign.
