Why does everyone say you cant use EBT cards to buy 'hot' food? Yes you can.?
Before I moved out of my parents home (I moved when I was 17, Im 18 now), my mother was living with us (I was legally adopted by my grandparents, never lived with my mom or dad) and she had food stamps. Frequently we would walk to McDonalds just down the street from us and use her food stamps card to get food and iced coffees late at night. They accepted it. We also used it at a few other restaurants. Later, I would work at the McDonalds and then get fired after getting my own apartment, and now I got my own EBT card, I just got it, and a different McDonalds down the street from where I am now also takes it. I live in Michigan, by the way. I dont understand why people are saying you cant get hot meals with an EBT card, because Ive seen it. Also, Ive seen my best friends dad get vodka with his at a party store. And the 7-11 by my old house let you get anything but energy drinks. So, why do people say that?
Why can't stores type in my EBT (Food Stamp) card number if the card doesn't slide?
I live in Arizona. Yesterday, I purchased some food at Walgreens with my EBT card. The card doesn't swipe, so I needed the cashier to type in the number. The manager said she couldn't, and there was a reason for it, but she never told me what it was. This same thing has ahppened to me at Target, too. Why is this? What is the law that says they can't type in in the number?

sorry. i have food stamps too and social security. when i had financial assistance i was able to withdrawl money from my ebt card but not any more since i only get food stamps and my money i get from my ssi checks. if you want money you can always try selling your food stamps. jus becareful if you do. you don't want to get caught doing that because you can get into trouble for doing that and maybe get your food stamps reduced or stopped.

Can you get cash back on an EBT Food Stamp (not cash) card in, say, Florida?
SPAM floating around the internet: "At approximately 2:30 pm, September 6, 2012, I entered the Publix store on Main St. in Gainesville , FL to pick up a few items. I gathered my items and went to the 14 and under register to check-out. The person in front of me (a white female, approximate age 35-43, fake nails, big braided hair do, clean clothes, carrying a purse and a plastic drinking cup) put her purchase on the check-out surface - ONE GRAPE. Yes, that is correct ONE GRAPE. The cashier asked if that was all, she replied yes. The cashier then weighted the GRAPE and told the women the cost was $.02 (TWO CENTS), the women then pulled out her Food Stamp EBT card and swiped it through the credit card machine, requesting $24.00 in cash back. The cashier asked if she wanted the GRAPE, the woman replied no and the GRAPE was put in the garbage can. The register recorded the sale as $.02, cash back $24.00. The cashier then asked if fives would be okay because was out of tens, the woman agreed and took the $24.00 folded it up and put it in her pocket and left the store. As the next person in line I asked the cashier as a tax payer what in the hell just happened here she said she was on the clock and could not comment. I then asked if I had actually seen this person purchase and discard a GRAPE, then get cash back on her Food Stamp EBT card. The cashier responded that it happens all day, every day in their store. She also said that if the person buying the GRAPE has it ring up over $.02 they get mad and make her reweigh it. My next comment was to ask the cashier if she planned to vote in November and she said she could hardly wait for 11/6/12 to get here as one tax payer to another. I paid for my groceries, in cash, and left the store madder than 10 wet hens" Is it possible?
Does it make you angry to see people using their EBT card?
Well its sad that people abuse there ebt cards but candy is food sorry to say.. It gives a bad name for people that actually use the EBT cards that NEED THEM!!! And honestly I believe for the most of people that use EBT need them as I've stated above plus WHO are you to Judge?? IF you've ever needed help for buying food in your life, you'd understand why some people get EBT!! NOT everyone buys Candy.. But its still food.. so don't judge honestly!
Some states like Ohio absolutely do not have an EBT cash option at all on the stamp cards-this is why they resort to selling them. What Ohio does instead is give a separate card to buy items strictly considered medicine or some sort of medical device or component. It won’t allow someone to purchase anything else with it. Ohio seen that other states that were combining everything on the EBT card such as cash for medical stuff were having people fraudulently claim they don’t have the money for medical stuff, etc., so they could get the cash benefits for them and they sit there buying cigarettes, alcohol, lottery tickets, you name it. There was a thing on 20/20 about this not too long ago too-this is why Ohio is one of many states that absolutely does not do or got rid of the EBT cash thing and they now give a separate card for stuff like medication, etc. The ones selling it are pissed that they can’t take money out like in some states still so they sell it to get their iPhone, cable bills paid, to get cigarettes, etc. Many of the people who do this are the ones who moved from out of state to Ohio and were in shock that Ohio didn’t give them cash benefits like their old state was and they got mad Ohio got hip to the wheeling and dealing, so they started selling them.

If you have the ebt card and it only says food stamp can you still get out cash for houseing?
"why can we drink soda like you people. why cant we eat chips like you people. why cant we do the same things you people do." Because I don't DO those things. I ate rice, and beans, and peanut butter sandwiches till I couldn't stand it anymore. Then I sat there sobbing for a few moments, regained my composure, and made another pan of rice. I've been doing this for over 3 years now.. I hate it. I'm ready to be DONE with it. But I can make it work till the money is better. It's a struggle sometimes to get the daughter to eat it. But she does. Why can't you have those things? It's because food stamps are supposed to help you buy food so you're healthy. Junk is JUNK. Yes, I did this while on WIC. Not once did I wonder why WIC wouldn't pay for diapers. Or chips. I did wish that it would pay for Veggies, but I didn't complain to the internet about it. You've posted this questions THREE TIMES
