Why did left handedness used to be shunned? Why does it have such a negative history?
As with anything it probably originated from religion. 'The Sheep and the Goats' - describes the last judgement and the division of all the world's people into the blessed, on the Right Hand of God. "Then the King will tell those on his right hand, 'Come, blessed of my Father, inherit the Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world;" "Then he will say also to those on the left hand, 'Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire which is prepared for the devil and his angels;"

I am so sorry. It's impossible to express feelings like this - the depth of what you're feeling right now is profound, and again I am sorry for your loss. At least your being at work will give you a chance to cool down and take a few deep breaths. Like it or not, it is a deep-set instinct in many dogs to chase and kill prey. Combine that with a being who has no moral values (your dog can't see that your cat is valuable to you) and you have the disaster that you've experienced. I guess what I'm trying to say is - don't blame the dog. Taking out your frustration on her is truly not going to help - she can't understand why on Earth you'd punish her. Try to talk to some people about how you feel. Go to someplace that you like to be and think about your cat and the great memories that you have - and once again, understand that your dog will not benefit from a beating! Thanks.

Well, I know at least one personally who never speaks to her children since they became born again Christians.
