Why Did My Father Put This Evil Coon Inside Me

Does the father cat know his kittens?

I think it likely varies from tom cat to tom cat. We have a big Maine Coon tom (Kano). Here he is with one of his kittens. (Aslana)For the first few weeks after they were born he didn’t pay much attention to them and he treated the new mother with suspicion. When the kittens were ready to leave the birthing box we put them in a cage so they could explore safely without getting into too much trouble. He soon started to spend hours each day playing with them through the cage. When the kittens were old enough to go free range he shared his favourite sleeping place with whom ever joined him.He taught them to use the scratching post.He would groom them.Seven months on, here he is last night with his daughter Bellatrix. The other interesting thing is that at about three months old the mother of most of these kittens came back into heat and started to hiss at her own kittens, numerous times I saw the Kano protect them and administer some justice to the Queen. In conclusion, I am not sure he has the concept that the kittens were his but he certainly loves them and protects them. Father of the year we joke.Edit: thanks to all the upvoters. This is my first answer with over 1k. :) We kept two of Kano's kittens. Here is a picture of them eating together. From top to bottom: Aslana, Kano and Bellatrix. The red tribe we call them. Also one picture of the lovely Queen Zhadi.

6 Raccoons and now a possum in our attic what should we do!? Need Help Fast?

Geez, your dad LIKES having rodents in his house?!

They are al nocturnal creatures. Meaning they are in the house sleeping during the sunlight hours, and are out at night foraging for food. The key is to wait for them to get out at night, then board up the holes.

If you have a creature inside your home, yoru local Animal Control will come get it at no cost... Also, if you see either rodent during the day, it could be rabid, and is a public health risk, so call Animal Control for that, too. Those AC guys live to trap wild animals... call them and let them do their job. No cost to you... they are supported by tax dollars.

Dad won't let me take the cat with me when I move out?

Poor thing...your heart is in the right place, but your dad sounds like a stubborn cow! If you want to take the cat with you, perhaps you should try to have your mom talk to your dad about this, in a serious manner. I'm guessing that he doesn't give two craps about this, but because YOU want it, he won't give it up.

Sadly enough, if your dad doesn't give his consent, you can't take the cat with you. I know, it sucks. Maybe if you keep pushing the idea on your dad, he'll come around, so don't give up.

How can i convince my dad to let me get a blutick coonhound puppy?

Try to demonstrate responsibility by doing research on the breed. Tell your dad the pros and cons of the breed. Coonhounds are basically noses on a leash. Show him how AVID chips work, and how you will pay for it, because your dog will need to be scanned when turns at a shelter after he runs away. He's a hound - it will happen. Show him how you learned to crate train a dog, how to potty train a dog, how to teach the dog to not chew on your dad's shoes. Demonstrate that you know that it is a 15 year commitment. You will take the dog for a minimum of 11,000 walks (15 years x 365 days/year x 2 walks/day). Show your dad your paycheck, because you will be paying for the dog's food and vet bills. You do have some means of making money, right? And try not to say that you want one "SO BAD!!!"

Do you think this maine coon's muzzle is too pointy?

It's a pet quality kitten. How do you expect the structure of a kitten's face to change? It can't. And it won't. You will get what you're paying for if you buy this pet quality kitten. If you want one with a better face then pony up the couple thousand to get a show quality kitten.

This kitten actually very odd to me to be a Maine Coon. Ears look Maine Coon but that's about it. It almost looks like Maine Coon kitten ears Photoshopped onto a domestic longhair head and body. Is this a picture from a breeder's website or just some picture that was emailed to you? Have you seen this kitten in person?

Also what do you mean by "world champion"? No such title. The titles are Champion, Grand Champion, Double Grand, Triple, Quadruple, Supreme Grand Champion. Then there's International Winner if they placed in the top 25 in the world. What registry is this kitten supposedly with? Sounds to me either some obscure registry that doesn't stick to the true standard for the breed or this person is talking complete BS.

edit: saw this kitten is from the Alwaro cattery. Do you realize this cattery has FOUR breeding males and ELEVEN breeding females??? On their site they also show they're having NINE litters this year. If you look through their cats other than maybe one of the males NONE show titles next to their name and most all are PET QUALITY Maine Coons if even Maine Coons at all. They have some SERIOUSLY ugly cats! This is clearly a breeder only breeding TO MAKE MONEY. Really want to support someone like that just so you can get a Maine Coon that "isn't too expensive"? I hope not.

edit2: LOL at the thumbs down. Hey, if supporting a bad breeder is OK with your conscience go right ahead. And enjoy your horribly bred kitten.

Coon footed horse/DSLD put down?

I would recommend euthanasia right now. It sounds like your horse had a very rapid case of DSLD, and when it progress's so fast, there is no way to reverse the damage. With him being 4, and already being post legged and having dropped fetlocks, he's in constant pain. I've had several horse's struck with DSLD, one was a 5 year old mare that I didn't even hesitate to have euthanized. She was in such agonizing pain that it hurt to walk, stand, and often times she would trip over herself to the point she would lay down for extended periods of time- depressed and lethargic.
Some horse's progress rapidly, some don't. It's said amino acids will help slow down DSLD progression, but there is no cure yet. So keeping him alive in hopes it will get better, is most likely not going to happen.
I would euthanize now. Imagine yourself only being able to stand on the back of your heels with your toes in the air. Now add 900 lbs. That is how DSLD stricken horse's feel, and it's constant. There is no relief, even for the ones who dig holes in attempt to stand comfortably in them. There is no remedy to cure the pain other than a respectful euthanasia. You would be doing this horse a major justice.
In the future, if you purchase a horse of the same ancestor as this one, have him checked early on, as DSLD is hereditary and there is a 8 in 10 chances that any related offspring will inherit this disease. Catching it early on will help you and your vet be able to tell what can be done to make this horse more comfortable and hopefully slow the progression. Common signs are wind puffs(although certain cow bred and reining bred horses develop these without DSLD), displaying acts of colic with out in fact colicking, tripping over themselves on even ground, having difficulties standing up after laying down(most will get themselves sitting up like a dog, and then take a while to get up from that position), and shifting weight, lifting legs high holding them, and digging feet into the ground or standing in holes.

EDIT- AWE. did my little wittle troll give me a big bad thumbs down and run like a little puss again? What a coward.
