Why Do Conservatives Who Love The Confederacy Claim To Not Be Racist Are U Ppl Stupid

Were Southern Segregationists considered Liberal, Conservative, or both?

Republicans - the "party of Lincoln", now blame Lincoln for the Civil War, say the Southern States had a "right to secede" (they didn't, with the possible exception of Texas), say "slavery was not the chief issue of the war" (blatantly ridiculous, and Lincoln would have died laughing if anybody said that), and have been consistently against Civil Rights and affirmative action ever since the racist, Southern Democrats left the Democratic Party en masses.
Like Strom Thurmond and many others including Ronald Reagan.
Lincoln would be rolling in his grave today if he could see any of the actions of his "Republican" party.

Why Are the Ex- Southern Plantation Owners Who Supported Slavery Now Democrats?

their grand kids are blacks?

Confederate flag? Point of pride or symbol of treason?

I was thinking about this the other day... never really thought about it like this before...

but the confederates picked up guns, killed U.S. soldiers, denied their citizenship to the U.S. and pleged their loyalty to another nation (the Confederate States)...

if anyone else did this... wouldn't they be considered a traitor? yet people in the south still fly the confederate flag and look to it as a symbol of pride?

I mean you could look at it in different ways... granted... but in the end... isn't the blatant and violent act of treason against the U.S. goernment it's lasting leacy more than some cultural overtones?

I'm not trying to call them "stupid southerners" or anything, but I'm just pointing out the history of the situation...

I mean if an American picked up a gun and shoots U.S. soldiers in an attempt to kill them and seperate from the U.S.... isn't that a treasonous act, no matter what other factors exist?
