Why Do Electronic Broadcasters Have A Lisp

Why do some people develop a lisp?

I’ve had a frontal lisp for as long as I can remember. For me, it is due to the position of my teeth. As a kid, my parents considered getting me braces for my teeth but they were unsure if it would make my lisp worse.Of course, I been through speech therapy. It didn’t help much and my lisp is very slight. For my situation, I believe my lisp is mostly due to my teeth and habit. My teeth enabled my lisp and habit keeps me from changing it. I am aware that I produce “s” sounds incorrectly by positioning my tongue in front of my teeth like one would with a “th” sound instead of placing it behind the teeth. I’m just too lazy to make an effort to change the way my speech sounds.

Why do some adults have a lisp?

Some people assume that these childhood problems always go away, but some do not go away without therapy. And adult who is missing a sound, and so substitutes another sound, did not get therapy as a child. Perhaps they were homeschooled, or went to a very small school that could not provide speech therapy, and for some reason, their parents did not provide them with private therapy. It may be the person has some motor-skills problem that affects their speech, or they have had a head injury, and for whatever reason, nothing else about their condition is obvious other than the speech impediment. That is unusual but it does happen. It's also possible the person has a mild hearing impairment. There are lots of possibilities, as you see.

Is the router in my living room considered a true router?

A ‘true router’ as I as suspecting your asking is, “Can my home router do all the stuff those big ISP routers can?” The answer is, probably not however, the good news is, it is a true router! A ‘true’ router is any device that breaks up the broadcast domain or, creates boundaries between networks that filter broadcasts like ARP. While there is just enough functionality to perform these functions at home, there will not be the ability to run OTV or VXLAN or even LISP. While it does support the most basic of QoS, that is not as tweak-able; nor will the home router allow for subscriber sessions to terminate on your router as if it were a DMVPN or PPPoE hub. But know that in spite of all this, all that overhead is what keeps those routers expensive (Both hardware and Software costs nowadays) and what allows us to have High-Speed Internet at home at a fraction of the cost.Hope this helps.

What causes some people to speak with a lisp?

Lisps may have either physical or psychological causes. Most lisps are caused by errors in tongue placement within the mouth. The most frequently discussed of these problems is tongue thrust in which the tongue protrudes or extends  beyond the  front incisors. This protrusion affects speech as well as swallowing and can lead to lisping. Even , tongue-tie can also be responsible for lisps in children. However it is unclear whether these deficiencies are caused by the tongue-tie itself or the muscle weakness following the correction of the tongue-tie.  Overbites and underbites may also contribute to lisping. Temporary lisps can be caused by dental work, dental appliances  or by swollen or bruised tongues.

What does it mean when we say someone is Affected, or has affected speech?

No no no- its a slang term that people use. I'm not getting it mixed up with effected. Its a term used to describe people who act weird but in a certain way. They are so affected! Anyone? Anyone?

I think I am developing lisp. It's so embarrassing that I try to avoid S sounds. What do I do?

Wow. It is VERY hard to avoid S sounds, because that is a frequent sound in English and it is used to signify plurals as in “bookS” and verb tenses as in “she thinkS.”I am a certified speech language pathologist (sorry for the agrammatical title). Saying S has structural (mouth and tongue), mechanical (movement and strength), and neurological components. Typically, we would recommend a few things for a lisp that develops:Someone else said check for potential hearing loss. See a certified audiologist to find out if you are not hearing S clearly, and so you would struggle to hear yourself speak clearly as well. S is a high frequency sound that becomes difficult to hear for many people as we get older. Are you tired or tense? The sound S requires you to make very fine movements and placement of the tongue to avoid lisping, so tiredness or tension might make you move your tongue less, causing a lisp. Key question: Is your speech overall less distinct and clear? You might just be noticing the S sound, but your speech might be “lispy” or imprecise overall. See a speech language pathologist who works with adults.Could you be experiencing some neurological changes that show up to you mainly in your speech? A good speech language pathologist might question if your loss of speech precision is actually part of a bigger syndrome of medical issues. In this case, you would see a neurologist.Do you have orthodonture or dental changes that interfere with a clear S? Braces and retainers reduce tongue movement. If so, talk with a dentist to see if your dentition or correction is interfering with your tongue movement. You can learn compensatory strategies, if needed, to speak clearly even with dental issues.Have you noticed any changes in your tongue? Do you see growths or surface changes? If so, tell your doctor and visit an ear-nose-throat (ENT) specialist (an “otolaryngologist”) to make sure your oral structures are healthy.I hope these ideas of where to start to address a suddenly noticeable lisp will help you to be both a clear speaker and a healthy person. Don’t postpone getting the care you need. Okay?
