Why Do I Have A Gagging Like Feeling When I Eat And My Throat Is Tight

Scratchy throat and gag feeling?

A "cool mist" humidifier will put more moisture in the
air, making sticky, dry, irritated throats feel better. Most sore
throats respond well to added moisture.

Also, gargle with warm water to make the itchiness go away as well. Take a warm bath and it will relieve your scratchy throat. And remember to drink extra liquids.

But the medicine I would recommmend is Motrin. That usually works for my aunt..

Or just eat warm soup. But Motrin is good too. Advil will be one of my recommendations too.

Why does my throat feel tight every time I eat?

I've suffered from acid reflux for a while couple years which I am on medicine for, and a few months ago I noticed my throat feeling tight quite often. I used to be very paranoid about being allergic to something I ate, so I would take Benadryl. But after a while I realized it would happen even after I hadn't eaten anything at all. Is there anything I can do to keep this from being so severe without having to get my esophagus stretched? Any type of advice is greatly appreciated!

Nausea Feeling in my throat?

It came out of no where one day and has continued. It comes randomly, but my throat feels tight and I can't really swallow and It makes me gag or make me want to throw up, even though I never do. I never feel nauseous from my stomach it's always just from my throat, and I always feel like I can't have anything by my throat like my necklace or my shirt it makes the feeling even worse, and sometimes laying down makes it worse too. Any ideas of what this is?? medical? in my head? Anyone else has this problem??

What can I do? My throat is really tight and I can feel something coming up my throat to the point that I can barely breath.

In most people this sounds like a panic attack. In some having a throat infection, causing a swellling of e.g. the voicebox, or something pressing on your airways (thyroid, tumor), there could have been large airways narrowing due to that, causing a wheezing sound on breathing in. In that case visit an ED ASAP.

I have a really weird feeling in my throat as if I need to gag or yawn. I'm worried about what it could be. It only started today, what could it be?

Needs more details for sure. But assuming you are in the northern hemisphere, the weather is starting to get colder, so I'm gonna throw a guess it's nasal drip. Ewww right? Drink more water and try not to run your heater too much (dry air will dry up your sinuses). Get a humidifier if you live in cold country (will be running your heater a lot).Look out of for pressure in your head in the coming days as this could be a sinus infection. And once you feel better get a flu shot for the sake of everyone around you.Oh and I'm absolutely not a doctor and my official medical experience doesn't extend past expired CPR and lifeguard certifications and the lifesaving and first aid merit badges. I just get sinus infections and "throat tickles" a lot.

Why do we vomit when we put our finger into our throats?

Because when you eat something, it doesn't go into your trachea. It goes to esophagus. But when you put your finger down there you're going in trachea. Anything that goes in the trachea except the air is dangerous for you. So the muscles have developed a reflex called "gag reflex" that makes you vomit if anything tries to go so deep in your trachea to prevent it from getting the lungs.

Dry throat making me gag, what can help?

drink cold water

Why is it when i lay down on my back i feel like gagging?

I feel like I'm choking when I lay on my back and gagging. Does anyone know what this could be? This happens all the time but when I lay on my side I'm not to bad just feel tight my throat like I'm choking a bit.

Why does coughing sometimes make you gag or even feel like you have to throw up?

This is for a couple of reasons. When you cough really hard you contract your abdominal muscles and “"push out” like you do when you vomit. Any food in there is going to come out because your body is going through the same motions. Sometimes you contract your throat so tight and stick your tongue out so far you set off your gag reflex. The phlegm you bring up can also stimulate your gag reflex if it touches it just right.

I always get a sick and nausea feeling when I think about my crush?

Its the so called butterflies in my stomach feeling but more intense. Ever since my crush said that he liked me, I've been kinda sick and I would kinda gag a bit when I eat. I feel like this is way too intense as if its my health problem or is it just my hormones? I'm so confused right now. What if I suddenly puke when I see him? This has been bugging me so much and its very distracting when I'm at school! Please help.
