Why Do I Keep Going To Collage

I'm tired of going to college. What should I do?

This is difficult for me because I loved college despite the fact that I was a college drop out. I went to college for ten years and spent the next 40 teaching.I have advised thousands if students though and had this question come up more than once. My best suggestion was to take a break, preferably over the summer break but longer if needed. There is a point of deminishing return in college where one is simply struggling to focus on learning. It could be that you may not be meant to be in college. It really is over rated as far as developing a career. A break will give you a chance to see if you miss it or can you find something else that you would rather do. For all of the pushing for everyone to go to college they for get that there is always a need for skilled craftsmen and eomem. Electricians, welders. Carpenters , pipefittes, etc.On the other hand, you may just having a short term burn out, or perhaps it is the college you are currently attending. Find a couselor or faculty.member you trust and discuss it with them..

Am I wrong for not going to college?

My dad says college is the best choice for me. He and my older sister went to college so I'm basically expected to go to college. but I found out if you fail a course in college or can't keep your GPA up then your forced to pay back thousands of dollars. My highest GPA in high school was 2.6 and I didn't do too well on finals. I think learning a trade or joining the military will be good for me, despite everyone telling me how much I'll be missing out or how low my income will be. I've always been a outcast or I'd be the one doing things that's socially unacceptable, like next year I'm joining advanced English class. Most kids my age hate reading. I already lost one of her books. :/

Why do people waste money going to college?

I've never applied for a job where the requirement was a college degree. Very few jobs even require college degrees. My present job only requires a HS Diploma. At most some jobs might require a HS Diploma. Why do people keep wasting money and time going to college? I did the college thing and if you don't have the right connections, you can't get a job anyways. Besides, my college classes were full of pretentious snobs.

People keep telling me to go to college but I don't want to. What should I tell them?

One thing you have to understand is that there is a huge cultural myth surrounding college. People will never stop pressuring you to go to college because it is a class marker. I am almost forty years old and people are still bothering me to finish college. I have spent many years of my adult life in and out of school. I have a seminary degree from a unaccredited bible school and I am halfway done with a bachelor's from a 'real' school. My advice is to tell people to mind their own business. Unless they are offering to pay your tuition, college is not a place to find yourself anymore. I've had several coworkers during my twenty odd years in the workforce who had college degrees and were stuck in entry level jobs years later. I was one of them. Unless you are extremely gifted or well connected, the results are likely to be the same whether you go to college or not. Especially if you are a woman who is planning on having a family. All of the stay at home moms in my playgroup all have some sort of college degree. Most of them are on WIC. I do value education but a college degree in and of itself is not a magical cure for poverty or social inequity. A magical piece of paper that says that you know something is not going to cure an unhealthy economy. I have decided not to finish my bachelor's degree because at this point in my life there are other things that are more important and I don't want to saddle my family down with unnecessary debt. So I just ignore everyone who is pressuring me to go to school. They'll be doing it in the nursing home, that's how ignorant they are. Just ignore stupid people and enjoy your life.

Can my parents stop me from going to college?

I'm 17, and a senior in high school. i don't turn 18 until December 27. I really want to go to Florida. My mom wants me to go to a college as close as possible. She wont even mind me going upstate. But she wants me to stay in New York. She thinks I want to go over to Florida because my friend is over there and she never liked him. But if i do go live with him, instead of paying $12,000 for room and board Me and him can be roommates.I've already done the math and for a YEAR I would be paying $4,350 for rent and food, way less than half room and board at college. But she just wants me to stay close. So i was just wondering if she can legally make me stay home or force me home until i turn 18. Because if this is the case i would be behind one whole semester in college.

Should I go to college or continue working?

I think everyone (excepting child-prodigy-level geniuses who are OUTLIERS and should not be counted) should go to college if they want to be successful. You don’t say what the specific job offer is or what the salary would be, but I can almost guarantee you that over the course of your lifetime you will earn more with a degree than without one.Now is the best time to go to college. You are young and you don’t have any big financial obligations (kids, mortgage, etc).It will be much much harder to get a bachelor’s degree once you are 30. Some of the most amazing people I ever met were at my community college. One of my fellow classmates had three children, a full time job, and was completing the prerequisites for a nursing program. She worked very very hard and was very smart. Her grades could have been much much better had she less obligations in her life. She was smart enough to have gone to medical school if she had wanted, but that was financially impossible because she was supporting her kids herself. It’s much harder to do college when you’re an established adult.Apart from the financial benefit of college, you can’t underestimate the growth and learning that will occur through the educational experience. There will be no other time in your life besides college when you can dedicate your entire self to learning information. I find it to be an incredibly exhilarating experience, and I love challenging my mind on the daily.4 years seems like a long time now, but compared to the 40 years you will spend working in your field it is just a fleeing period of time. Many many adult students I met at community college had huge regrets about not going to school when they were younger. Taking a job and working may seem like a good idea now, but without a degree it is hard to get jobs that will advance your career. This figure is based on 2009 numbers but it illustrates my point:Just How Much Is That College Degree Worth?

Im going into college, but i dont know what i want to be!?

When i sit and think about what i want to be, i come up with a billion choices, and it is really frustrating. I want to be everything in life and do it all. I know that really isnt possible, but how can i narrow down my choices on what i want to be in life.
