Why Do I Stay Congested All The Time

Why do my sinuses get congested every time my heater turns on?

The amount of water vapor that can remain in air depends on the temperature. The colder it is, the more moisture condenses out of the air, a process we see when the outside of a cold drinking glass beads up with water.  That colder air is heated by the heater, to a temperature that could, and would hold more moisture, in a normal environment, e.g., a yard with trees, grass and moist earth.  The inside of the house probably does not have those sources of moisture, and the heating occurs in bursts, so there is not much time for the moisture to be introduced before reaching your moist sinuses.  So, the moisture in your sinuses evaporates into the air as you breathe, far more than it would on a moist spring day outside. The mucus in your sinuses hardens rather than merely swishing around and draining to your throat without being noticed.Dust is always settling on surfaces.  As the air is dry, the dust is also dry, and is less likely to stick where it lands.  Convection currents form as warmed air rises from the heater, and the dust becomes airborne again.  The whole point of the mucus and nose hairs is to trap that dust, keeping it out of your lungs. The more dust your nose senses, the more mucus that gets produced.  Yet in the dry air, the mucus quickly dries.Houseplants could be a safer option than a pot on a burning stove while you sleep, and much safer than if the gas range has a flame so low that it may go out.  Frequent dusting and vacuuming of the heater and its fins may also help.

Why does crying make your nose congested?

Because the tears from the eyes are drained into the nose by the ‘tear duct’ a.k.a. the nasolacrimal duct.(Lacrimal gland produces tears)This happens normally, too. The thin layer of fluid that coats and protects the eye is continuously drained into the nose via the tear duct. However, since the quantity of those tears is very small, we hardly take notice. But when we are overcome by emotions and we cry or when the allergy season hits, the production of tears is considerably increased. As the eyes well up and tears flow down the cheeks, excess tears are drained into the nose via the passageway as shown in the picture above.Since the nose usually contains mucus (phlegm), the tears from the eyes mix with the mucus to produce a watery snot and the nose starts running. Why Does Crying Make My Nose Run?

Nose gets congested every day mid afternoon?

Every day between 3-6 I get so congested. It doesn't matter if im at home, at work, or out shopping. I will then stay congested for the rest of the evening. In the morning when I get up and up to mid afternoon, my nose is fine. Doctor said it wasn't allergies, since my nose doesn't run. Does anybody have any idea what is causing this?

Cat sounds congested.?

Okay I just noticed it today. She sounds like she's congested, typically. She's been sleeping on my bed all day and I've been keeping an eye on her, she hasn't really ate that good today and yesterday. And I don't know if she's cold or not but she's been sleeping on my heating blanket. I only notice it when she stretches or wakes up or moves. She'll meow and she sounds like she's got mucus in her throat or she's really congested when she breathes after stretching. I have no idea what it could be but I was going to take her to the vet in the morning. Anyone know what it could be? =(

What home remedies to cure severe sinus congestion?

It seems like I have tried everything. I keep sinus congestion all the time. Suffer from sinus migranes. It gets way worse when I get a sinus infection. I can hardly breath at all through my nose. At the moment the only thing that really gives me some relief is doing a saline nasal wash with some drops of peroxide. (another something I found.) After doing that, I use an OTC nose spray, which I know is not good to use. Then take a behind the counter decongestant. This is good for a couple of hours. I want to be able to breath clearly, majority of the time and if I have to use anything I would like for it to be all natural. I've been to an ENT and I've had better luck talking to a brick wall. Total waste of time and money. I've tried other natural nose sprays. Oregeno, another one with capisin, just regular saline wash. None worked. If anything, made me feel more congested. Hot showers help a little. I've tried a apple cider vinegar, honey, w/ water tea. Didn't work. Tea Tree oil in nasal wash. Didn't work. I'm grasping at straws here and desperate. I'm just about willing to try anything. I've been working on my posture hoping that might help. Trying to cut out sugar in my diet. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

My ferret is sneezing & sounds congested...I am very worried!?

1. The shampoo could be part of it, they are much closer to the rugs than the dogs and their respiratory system is much more delicate.
2. Windows should be fine, unless its bitterly cold, even so he'd have to be exposed for longer than that to really have an effect, and I think it would not show with sniffles.
3. Hammock should be fine, that could have resulted in itchiness maybe from the new material, not sniffles.

You should be ok to wait til the morning, but in the meantime, you need to be sure he stays hydrated. You can feed unflavored Pedialyte NOT mixed with anything as that negates its effects. Also try feeding 100% meat baby food, Gerbers Stage 2 is ok. Try watering that down and feeding it to him. Heating it a bit, be careful its not hot, touch it first, that emphasizes the smell since it might be hard for him to smell stuff now so he won't be as hungry. You can also buy Kitten Replacer Milk, you can find it in a can at a pet store and most grocery stores have them. The powder may look pricey, but it can last months if kept in the fridge. Mix that according to directions and get him to eat at least every 4 hours. You should force feed if he won't eat on his own.

This could be a respiratory infection. Ferrets get the flu, with H1N1 going around, you can't be too careful. They can catch it and already a few ferrets have died in Oregon. Make sure to sanitize everything every time you come in from outside, wash your hands often, and keep him away from other people and animals.

Also, this heater, you may just be drying the air out for him and he needs moist air. Any way you might have a humidifier? Or could take him to the bathroom, hold him and run the shower and let the room mist for 10-15mins or so? Make sure it doesn't get too hot, but if he will sit WITH you (never alone) that might help his breathing. Try to do that every hour or so, if it helps, if you can.

Besides, their body temp will be warm enough without the heater, give him access to warm fuzzy blankets, clothes, sweatshirts, whatever and he will cuddle in those. He shouldn't need the extra heat.

Why does my nose get stuffy when im upstairs and not downstairs?

i have a cold and its almost over but everytime i lay in my bed to go to sleep my nose gets stuffed up, and everytime i go downstairs my nose is fine! What do u think it is and is there any way i can stop it?

Bronchitis is making my ear clogged due to heavy congestion?

One thing you can do is to eat some spice, wasabi etc. Next breath is boiled onions. Nyquil works well because it has alcohol in it and can dry up your sinuses. Vick's cough works good too. You need to sleep it off! And wherever you go take lysol with you so you don't continue to keep getting it or so it won't stay with you. Hope you feel better. If it doesn't resolve go to a doctor, you might need strong meds. or your ear popped!
