Why Do Man Utd Fans Want David Moyes Out After Less Than 2 Months Didn

Why was Manchester United manager David Moyes sacked on 22 April 2014, only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford and now  who is most likely to be appointed as the next manager?

The only thing justifying this hasty act is the lack of patience all around by the fans and the owners. When Sir Alex Ferguson left the team, they were champions and the expectations were sky high. But he failed to deliver. I feel this decision was a pretty harsh one considering he was given a six year deal. He was trying to build his own team. He had a vision and he wasn't given enough time for that. So all that hoax that fans are behind the manager and owners are behind the manager really means they were up his neck constantly saying deliver the results or it's your neck.Such were our words to the extent of our loyalty. Such were the lies we told. When Sir Alex Ferguson was handed the team , he was given much time to build his vision because the management had patience back then. But in today's world. If you loose some matches , your neck is on the line. Still United had the best away record in the premier league despite of such a bad season. There had to be some patience. And we also reached the last 8 of the Champions league and gave those Bavarians a hell of a match and a run for their money. So the reason is lack of patience and a disappointing season which drew tempers of everybody to the roof. Remember what Sir Alex Ferguson said at the time of leaving the club " You have stood by me and the players, now you have to stand behind your new manager". And...... we didn't.

Was sacking David Moyes the right way forward for Manchester United?

Yes. Moyes failed in just about every facet of the job possible on such a public stage. It is entirely possible that he could have begun to turn it around next season as he seemed to feel was possible. But the reality is that a failure to properly prosecute his first season in terms of transfers, tactics, and man management only proved his failings. Even if you allow for all the caveats imaginable such as a weaker squad, poor results from Woodward, etc. the responsibility is the manager's to prepare and play a competent side. Moyes never got much beyond an erratic and poorly inspired mid-table side, which would probably have gotten any other manager sacked by the Olympiakos game if they were not so anointed by Sir Alex.Moyes seems like a decent and nice man, which is why I can't be happy about the epic public humiliation his tenure in Manchester has become. But he gave absolutely no indication that he was capable of addressing the problems that plagued him for 10 months and you really can't say he covered himself in any glory that owed him another kick at the can.

Do you think David Moyes deserve 3 more games to prove himself?

To be completely honest, Sir Alex Ferguson did not make David's job easy because of the few mistakes he made towards the end of his career. Ferguson should not have let go of young gems like Paul Pogba and Mats Daelhi who could have formed the back-bone of Moyes' United team. He also left Moyes with ageing Center Backs and a Left Back. Also, I feel the signing of Robin Van Persie was a little unnecessary as this is preventing the link-up of Kagawa and Rooney, arguably two of the cleverest players in the league.Robin is also showing a lack of effort and seems to lack interest at present even though Moyes is trying to have him as the focal point of our attacks. Moyes has showed some signs of good management such as tying Rooney down to a long-term deal, promoting young Januzaj, getting rid of mediocre performers like Anderson and Fabio and also the unexpected signing of Mata. It will be fair to assess Moyes after next season and not this as he will have the months of July and August to get rid off players and also sign players whom he feels will carry forward the legacy of United. I believe that each manager should have his own bunch of players to work with and should not be blamed for the mistakes of the previous manager.

What do you think about David Moyes being sacked so early without being given a whole season chance?

David Moyes was entrusted with steering a rocky ship approaching a storm. He wasn't sacked because he couldn't steady the ship. Neither was he because he was taking the ship towards a path that will only plunge the ship into deeper abyss. He was sacked because he lost the confidence and respect of the cabin crew and was no longer fit to steer the ship.Decrypting it, David Moyes lost the confidence and respect of The Board, Sir Alex Ferguson, Fans and the players(in no particular order) by the time he was sacked. The team needed heavy rebuilding and handing him a transfer budget of 100+ million was not at all an option. The moment a manager loses the respect of the players, he will simply be a school master with a scale. Training sessions will be a mere sports drill, dressing room sessions will be a one way lambasting lecture. Tactics on paper can never be executed on the field and team morale will continue go on a downward spiral. It would be futile to even let him continue. It's much more honourable to put David Moyes out of his misery. The brilliant move to appoint Ryan Giggs as a caretaker manager (and also bring in some alumni of the Class of 92) aims to arrest this downward spiral. Ryan Giggs has been with the team for a long time(just like SAF was), so there is an innate respect for him within the team and the fans as well. Depending on the how the last 4 games of the worst ever season in the premier league era go and hopefully with a good summer in the market, Manchester United can embark on their path to recovery.PS : We thank David Moyes for all his service. It's unfortunate it had to end this way.

Did Moyes deserve to get fired?

I'll try to explain my two contrasting views on the issue.1.David Moyes is a wonderful human being, a strong willed hard man, a genuine nice guy. Met him a few times at OT when he was at Everton and he always had a smile on his face while addressing the United fans. Did a wonderful job at a shoestring budget at Everton. Anyone who says that David was NOT a good manager before coming to United doesn't know the game. Simple. When you give a man a 6 year contract, he deserves at least 2 yrs of it to prove what he is capable of. We have seen worse than this in the 80s. A year or two in the champions league wont hurt us. The man should have been given a good muti-million warchest to spend in the summer, to make a team of his own. Not aged players handed down by Fergie. Some of our games this season have been very good. David brought in Januzaj and look what a player he is turning out to be. Rooney signed another contract. Mata and Kagawa have got something growing between them which is really exciting to see. They are playing some wonderful football. There have been plenty of positives. David Moyes deserved another year. 2. No, clubs like Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona should never go into transition. And missing out on a CL season is unacceptable and embarrassing. David had to go. He was a great manager at Everton, but he's just not Manchester United class. He's a great manager, a loyal manager, a sound manager, but he's not a Manchester United manager. I don't trust 200 million in his hands. He spent around 70 million on Mata and Fellaini alone + Fergie game him a team who won the championship by 11 points last season. What did he do with that? 51 games and he used 51 different lineups. He doesn't know what his best XI is 51 games into the season. The money is there and he can bring in great players but what's the guarantee that they wouldn't fail like we have this season? The players play the way the manager wants him to and we have been shambolic this season. Useless tactically, can't counter like we used to, good, worldclass players have turned into muppets on the pitch. Sorry, I respect David Moyes a lot but he's out of his depth for a monumental job like this. I love my club more. Someone with good European and league experience will do. Someone who the players will respect. Klopp, Van Gaal, Hiddink, even Mourinho. Who are you, 1 or 2?
