Why Do People Think Tell Others To Abandon Loved Ones Who Are In Jail

Why has my husband stopped calling and writing me from prison?

I know you're going to hate this answer, but there is no way to know for sure. I say that as someone who also has a husband in prison. I have known this special brand of agony myself. There are a few possibilities that I can think of. They vary in likelihood depending on his location/custody risk, his personality, the amount of money he has on his books, and so on.One. Something happened on the inside (a murder, something serious like that) and he is unable to call because the prison is “locked down” meaning there is no recreational time and all inmates are confined to their cells all day.Two. He's on Loss of Privileges or maybe even in solitary for having a run-in with disciplinary.Three. He's out of money on his phone account.Four. He has developed or resumed an active drug addiction, and he's out of money and has traded his pens/paper/stamps/envelopes for drugs.Five. He's depressed. He is worried sick all the time and it's difficult for him to do his time like that. He opens his eyes every single morning in prison. It's a miserable place to be. Trying to think of things to write only serves to intensify this.Six. You've stopped writing him? So he's “on strike” in a sense?Seven. He's become “affiliated” (with a gang) - I don't know much about this because my husband isn't, and so what I “know” about it is all stuff I've heard third hand, and it's difficult to separate what's true and what's false when you're dealing with hearsay. But I've heard that they tend to detach themselves from family if their family isn't also involved with their, like, whatever they do in there on the low. Their hustle, I guess.Eight. He may be writing you and the mail is just suuuuuuuper slow for whatever reason. Maybe there's a new mail and property officer who doesn't like him, or they're extremely disorganized. That's all I can really think of. The good news is that since you're his wife, you're entitled to know what's going on with him. Just call the prison and bug the guards about it. You might get passed around a bit, they might try giving you the runaround, but be persistent (and polite!) and eventually you'll get ahold of that one guard who stays 20 minutes after the end of their shift to dig through files for any information they have on him. If they don't have anything, then that rules out #1, #2, and maybe #8.Good luck! Don't give up.

Boyfriend In Prison - Need some REAL advice from people who UNDERSTAND my situation?

Hey People.. I need some real advice from people who understand my situation whether they have been through it or not.

I dont need to be hearin ''Leave him he is a looser'' or ''Why are you with a wasteman whos in prison''

If you have experienced this i want to hear your story AND if you havent and are in LOVE i would like to know what you would do if they took your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife or husband away.

First of all he is not a killer, rapist, robber or dealer. He happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time - One of his friends got into trouble and since he was there it was considered a group act.

I've known my man since i turned 18 - Ive just turned 20 now. He's always told me that he was in love with me, but i just wasnt on it. We started spendin alot of time together about 8 months ago n i fell in love him.

He was taken to prison five months ago and is being held on remand. In 7 months he will have his court case and we will know if he will be convicted or not.

I love him so much but i love me more. And even though i want nothing more than to stand by him and be there for him - He could be looking at years in prison. I cant just sit down and wait, like he expects me to. He tells me he will never let me go, and hes been like this since the first day we met.

I dont know what to do, i have alot to live for.. i am an independant young lady who is following her dreams and i just feel like if i stand by my man for years in prison it will be a waste of time as my life will be on pause. Even though ive known him for two years or more, i was only with him properly for a few months.

Pls give your advice

THANK U xxxx

Do some people like being in jail?

Jail is definitely not better than people think. Especially prison. It has been known that some people have committed crimes for a place to live and healthcare. I could see how some inmates don't mind being locked up because of the fact that there may be friends or family in the same facility as them. Some criminals also have no objections to being locked up because they may have been put in the system at a young age and prison life may be all they know. I believe that there may be high confession rates because of the promises of less severe punishment. When criminals corporate it makes everyone's life easier.

What should I say to someone going to jail?

Prison or Jail, there is a difference. Jail is where you go before arrignment and final charges, probation or prison or charges released. If your headed to prison you will eventually(99%) be paroled or discharged, you must adapt to prison world. Mind your goddamn business and stay with your race, it doesn't mean that you are racist, but if your wanna increase your chances of making it out alive, you hafta check you free world civility at the door. Don't let others extort or charge you ‘rent’ or pay protection or take your store. Stand up for your self or your gonna be a mark and you will always be a punk. You don't have to win every fight, but you gotta fight, otherwise your gonna be someone's wife. If you can, try and get trustey ststus, it's the lowest level of confinement and you have the best chance of parole, and highest earning status(days locked up) as far as your time goes, some can get 3 for 1 in Texas for an S3 classification. Take advantage of vocational, education programs. Yes you can earn a master's degree in prison. Develop a skill you can market, fixing radio's, electronics, drawing, barboring, ect. You can barter for food items on sale in the canteen with your jailhouse skills. Try and stay away from gambling, owning others money, because, if you can't afford to pay, they gonna take it outta your ass. Write your family, loved ones, keep those free world relationships going, believe me, all you have in prison is store, visits and, mail. And number one rule, find a buddy, a partner that will have your back and you will have his back, you will be surprised at how much hope, strength, and encouragement you will provide each other, because it's all about doing whatever it takes to survive. And last but not least, don't be a snitch!! Snitches don't last long in prison, even when they end up in PC. Good luck!!

When murderers and child abusers?

People who go to prison for rape or child abuse do get protected, officers follow them to protect them from the other prisoners, but sometimes the officers accidentally leave cell doors open. The prisons are not cosy and warm, each prisoner who is sentenced are locked up 23 hours a day, imagine that, you would go mad being locked up for so long. You can not mix with other prisoners if you have killed, raped or abused women and children in fear of threats, so the life they have is lonely. Imagine the fear of not being safe, every day is another journey of loneliness and fear, by the end of 15 yr sentence, you just want to die. I have known people to go to prison got GBH, they have seen child abusers guided by prison officers, but, were allowed to shout at them as they pass. The prisoners attend victim groups to discuss there crimes, they meet up with trained specialists to work on healing, many child abusers say they would do it again, some ask not to leave prison in fear of abusing a child again. These people are sick and need to be hung.

I am going to jail soon, I'm 18 yrs old, what should I do before and while I'm in jail?

This advice comes from my dad who was a Corrections Officer for 25 years. I have never been locked up and have never been in trouble with the law.Don’t accept any “gifts” when you arrive. Sometimes you won’t have everything you need such as shower shoes, soap, a toothbrush, snacks; whatever. Some inmates will try to leave you “gifts” to hold something over you. They’ll say that since they did something for you, it’s time for you to do ANYTHING for them.Continue your education. Give yourself a chance to learn something that can be used to help you when you get out. Go to college, learn a trade, get your GED. That will be a good chance to keep you from reoffending. It could also reduce your time in jail if they see you are doing your best to become a model citizen.Be ready to fight. My dad said that prison is a whole different ballgame. You have to fight to protect your food, because someone might not like your skin color, and more.Nobody is your friend behind bars. You will be in there with con artists, rapists, armed robbers, murderers, addicts, drug dealers, and worse. They will exploit you to get themselves ahead.Keep your mouth shut. Don’t tell anybody anything about what you did, don’t ask what they did, and don’t snitch. Rats don’t last long in prison and they get discovered really quickly.EDIT: STOP COMMENTING ON MY ANSWER AS IF I’M THE ONE GETTING LOCKED UP. I AM NOT GOING TO JAIL. I DID NOT ASK THIS QUESTION. IT’S VERY ANNOYING THAT PEOPLE ARE GIVING ME UNSOLICITED ADVICE THAT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY LIFE. I DID NOT THINK THAT SO MANY PEOPLE THOUGHT I WAS THE ONE WHO ASKED THIS QUESTION. FFS.

How do people who aren't tough get by in prison?

Define tough. If you are emotionally or mentally weak, prison will destroy you and no one will recognize you when you get out. It won't matter one bit how physically tough you are. The best way to survive prison when you are not physically tough is to use your brains to protect yourself.Let me tell you about a guy named Ernie Preate.Ernie was the Attorney General of Pennsylvania until he got indicted and convicted for basically being a very corrupt guy. He actually had the temerity to ask to be placed in federal prison in Florida so he wouldn't suffer from the weather. He ended up in Minnesota.Imagine you were a career prosecutor who threw most of the people like your fellow inmates into prison on a regular basis. Ernie was not merely friendless but also very alone. No inmates would talk to him and most of the correction officers thought he was a corrupt scumbag politician. One day, an inmate was showing the guys in his unit the petition he had drafted to get his sentence corrected. The feds had miscalculated his time and he was sure that he was going to get a couple of months shaved off (the inmate only had a 3–4 months or so to go).Ernie couldn't take it any more and the attorney in him took the paperwork out of his fellow inmate's hands and after a while told the prisoner that he should already been released and asked the inmate if he would like for Ernie to rewrite his petition.Soon everyone was coming to Ernie for legal help and he helped everyone. He had lots of friends (I am using this term very loosely) and was no longer alone. There are plenty of people in prison who aren't tough. The only reputation you should have is that you aren't there to join anyone or make enemies.Working in the prison library and helping other inmates with their legal stuff is one way to survive very well.If you decide that the jailhouse lawyer route is for you, do everything for free without favor or payment.
