Why Do People Who Anime Watchers Read Manga

Why do people tease Anime Fans?

It's different and people don't like things that do not fit into the social norm. Anime and manga come from Japan mostly and most people already feel like Asians are too smart and are taking over colleges and schools and not leaving room for people that aren't Asian, so naturally they dislike anything involving Asians.
Stereotypes form the public opinion and it's difficult for people to view otherwise without being educated on the matter.

If you really like something then don't let other people bother you.

Note: That's my opinion on people only in America.

How come people are judged for watching anime?

Many people here already gave good points, but I thought I could add my 2 cents so here goes:First we have to realize that any other country of the world and Japan are not the same when it comes to culture. Therefore, something from japanese origin will be questionable in people's eyes because of certain things us Westerns wouldn't understand at first. After all, japanese products are made for the japanese. If it gains enough attention/money and they want to risk it, they may internationalize that product. Doesn't mean it will stop having that japanese touch. When it comes to anime, one thing that comes as a culture shock for many westerns is the fact that an animated cartoon does not necessarily have to be for children. Anime has many genres, it's not just for kids. It can also be for teens, adults, girls, guys, the LGBT community and more. Meanwhile, the american cartoons are usually aimed at children (not all though, with cartoons like South Park, Happy Tree Friends and similar others around, which makes me wonder why is cartoon still thought of as suitable for kids if there are cartoons made for adults?)So we have people judging those who watch anime because in their eyes, it's a cartoon and cartoons are aimed at children.Hope this helps.

Anime watchers ONLY please?

i am curious to know how people that enjoy watching anime watch it for example do you wait till you can watch 5 or 6 at ones or do you watch one a week when they come out?
do you watch subbed dubbed or RAW?
do you like watching only complete anime or ongoing anime?
animes with mangas or just the manga or just the anime?
how ever you want to answer this quetion is fine but if you just want to say something smart dont waste my time i dont care for your opinion
As for me i like to watch more then one at a time it doesnt really matter if theres a manga or not but with Bleach,Naruto ,Dgrayman i like the manga better basicly the long animes i also read the manga (some animes have to many fillers)
i like the language to be in japanese with subs cuz the english voices are crap and to dramatic

Why do you like to read manga?

I personally was hesitant initially as I had started with anime and I thought I will be bored reading manga. But my mindset changed completely when I started reading them.Manga has a very big world inside it. Not all mangas are made into animes. Infact a big portion of manga isn’t made into anime. There are some genres like horror, psychological thriller, mind games, mystery etc whose animes are rarely made and animes are mostly made on action mangas and comedy and romantic mangas and mangas of fantasy genre.I read a manga last year titled “ Liar Game .“ Believe me I hadn’t read anything so gripping and intriguing ever. Now no anime has been made on it but a South Korean T.V. Series is based on it.Mangas have color pages in them. And the Web toons and Manhwas ( South Korean) are fully colored. For eg: Relife is fully colored and its very good in all aspects and entertaining. There will be groups of people which will prefer anime over manga and then there will be groups of people which will follow manga over anime. Both has advantages as well as disadvantages. This debate can go on forever. But a person like me who has done both, I would like the anime lovers to read some manga as well and then decide for themselves. They will surely not be disappointed.

Do you think that anime watchers are intelligent people?

I feel like if there was a study done then we would find that a good amount of people that watch anime/ read manga are intelligent. I feel like everyone I know that watches anime also gets great grades in school and they are great at problem solving. I think that anime/ manga makes you think alot and maybe watching it in subtitles can have an affect on your intelligence..??? Hmmm

What do you think ?

How do Japanese people view anime and manga vs other people, Americans for example?

Honestly, there is a great synergy between the internet and anime/manga, but once you go offline, there is no sign of Manga or Anime in Japan. I am going to tell you my side(Japan side) and see what's like.Anime is still considered to be subculture-ish and the series of moe anime based on Lite-novel targeted to kids originally but watched mainly by Ookina otomodachis(literally: adult friends) aka 2D pedophile losers. I don't watch Anime or read comics or manga at all and most professionals I know from Japan don't care much about Anime either. In order to succeed commercially when releasing Anime content here, it's pretty much about how much they can make ani-wotas(Anime otakus) koe-butas, or koe-wotas(voice talent pigs or freaks), moe-butas(moe pigs) and fujoshis(ladies into quasi-platonic gay anime/manga porn from Japanese danshoku perspective) pay for the derivative/physical contents throughout active seasons, not the content itself or quality of Anime anymore, which is very apparent since 2000 as a part of the superficial consumerism and eco-unfriendly and typical Asian-like materialism provoking the sense of ownership and entitlement as anime fans, traditionally driven by the Japanese selfish motivations in this digital modern age. No way I can't be into this seriously.Manga, on the other hand, is widely accepted and considered to be reasonable entertainment you see everywhere. Adults read it as all different types of Mangas are available. The US anime market is very niche targeted to omega audience and as the numbers and performance show, most anime content is not paid for, but Anime contents in the US are watched by the poor and of course for free online by freeloaders and there is no business at all. Also American licensees pay pretty much nothing when importing content from Japan. Japanese publishers and IP holders(usually TV stations) don't even negotiate for better deal when exporting content and I find it very concerning. No business presence for anime in the SVOD market yet, but hopefully it gets better soon.American people can be into anything in anything. same in Japan. Hobbies and just hobbies, nothing serious about it.

Is anime the opium of the people?

Only if you're an anime fanatic, such as the likes of myself! Normal people might see food or reading as their 'opium'. It all depends what your interests are. So, not people in general, but anime watchers and manga readers might see it as their 'opium'.

Hope this helped!
