i dont think it would be a good idea, as there would be no equal punishment for women who rape. also, i think it may increase rape/murders as men would not see the punishment for murder as much worse than that, and the victim can't turn them in for rape if they're dead. something needs to be done, though. perhaps rapists should be microchipped (and murderers as well) so at least they cannot change their identies and cops could quickly identify them with a scanner; perhaps the scanners should be available publicly so schools can test anyone that comes on campus, and even people can test their dates. it would be less obvious than a 'scarlet letter', & avoid public stigma & possible lynching, as well as not being as easily argued as cruel & unusual punishment.
Why do people in gangs laugh when beating or raping a helpless victim?
Somebody who is willing to greatly harm another person does not have the same mindset as the majority of people. In addition to enjoying harming another person, they enjoy humiliating them. They enjoy having complete power over another person. They dehumanize the victim.
Why are rapists and child molesters treated poorly by their fellow inmates?
Ok well there are actually several reasons why this is the case. 1, Many people in prison are in there for drug charges and haven’t really committed serious crimes for the ones that have though like say murder many people have no problem (since I’m assuming we’re talking males here since most of the inmate population is male) with a man murdering another man but they have a huge problem with violence against those they percieve as innocent (women and children). So they take it as a personal offense and view the people guilty of those crimes as weaker and sick excuses for humans and treat them as such and 2 a lot of men in the prison system are victims of less than wholesome up bringings and for some of them that includes child abuse which can be neglect, emotional abuse, physical abuse or sexual abuse or a combination of all of the above. It is very triggering for a victim of abuse to surrounded by abusers even just one can be too much sometimes (was in that situation once you have this extremely tight knot in your chest constantly because they are always there and there is no way to get away from them because your in a place where you are locked together pretty much and have to interact with them at least in some capacity (wasn’t in prison but the mental hospital). So that anxiety makes you not a friendly person and then you aren’t going to treat the person that is causing you that anxiety in a friendly manner (I do believe I used several choice words the one time he did try to talk to me and he laughed which earned him a punch in the face from another patient which earned all three of us time in isolation or the loony bins version of solitary).
Am I Overreacting About a Rape Joke?
I saw the new Family Guy the other night, the one where Meg goes to prison, and was really disturbed by the bull raping Peter "joke". Peter is riding the bull, gets bucked off, the bull tells Peter he's gonna show him what a "breeding bull" does, grabs him, pulls his pants down (on his back, like how a woman would be raped vaginally), all the while Peter is crying and trying to fight him off for an uncomfortably long time, just to be overtaken in the end. Also...that was the whole point of the joke, that the bull rapes Peter. And it wasn't a matter of "Haha, PETER getting raped, that's okay because men are never raped" - it was much more like depicting Peter as a female rape victim. When I saw the scene I was totally confused - rape is a joke? Was an eerily realistic rape scenario really just THE joke? I've personally never been sexually assaulted but just from hearing other women talk about it it's so devastating that the fact that anyone would think it was something to laugh at is really scary to me. You can see the clip on YouTube and decide for yourself, just search "Peter raped by bull"... the comments are mostly from idiots, don't even waste your time. I feel like people, guys especially, don't see the big deal and just think it's funny but I'm really concerned about the direction the writers of Family Guy are going with this whole "sexual assault and violence against women is no big deal and let's joke about it" when they're just making it more acceptable. Your thoughts? And PLEASE, mature people only...seriously. I don't need to hear how awesome Family Guy is - I'm a fan, usually. And I KNOW they're equal-oppurtunity offenders...but shouldn't there should be a line somewhere?

Why do men get a bum deal if they report a woman raping them?
Because male rape is rare enough to make it an oddity. Also, because people don't understand the facts. By the logic of the posts here, if a woman get wet during a rape, she wasn't raped. That's some twisted logic.
