Why Do Some People Hate Bohemian Rhapsody

Who else can't stand Bohemian Rhapsody?

Me. I don't get Queen in general. Their only song I like is "We Will Rock You"
I've listened to a lot of their songs and I honestly can't see what the big deal with them is

Anybody else hate "Bohemian Rhapsody?"?

I like Queen, but I recently listened to "Bohemian Rhapsody" on the radio and realized "Wow... I've heard this song a million times and I finally realize that it f*cking sucks."

Anyone else?

Is Bohemian Rhapsody overrated? If so, why?

It is ridiculous, overblown, and just downright silly. This is what makes it great.Queen was 100% aware that they were being ridiculous. But they just leaned into it, and all decided to make it as over-the-top as they could. Is it overrated? Well, as the saying goes, the proof of the pudding is in the eating. Have you seen the video of a stadium of people waiting for a Green Day concert, and, to keep the energy up, they play Bohemian Rhapsody? The entire stadium sings along having a blast. That wasn't a Queen audience — they were there for Green Day. But they all knew, and liked, Bo Rhap. It is exactly what it wants to be: a ridiculously popular, ridiculously silly, ridiculously over-the-top, ridiculously fun song.In fact, there is a lot of really solid musicality in it. It's technically, tonally, compositionally, and theoretically pretty complex and elegant. So, I can make an argument that it is a genuinely good song. But whether it is good or not is beside the point. What it is is great.

Why do so many people hate the song Bohemian Rhapsody?

People hate that song?! I like it! Its a perfect of opera mixed with rock.

Why wasn't Bohemian Rhapsody popular when it was first released?

It was hugely popular when first released, holding number one in the UK for nine weeks. To quote Wikipedia: The song became the 1975 UK Christmas number one, holding the top position for nine weeks. Bohemian Rhapsody was the first song ever to get to number one in the UK twice with the same version, and is also the only single to have been Christmas number one twice with the same version. The second was upon its re-release (as a double A-side single with These Are the Days of Our Lives) in 1991 following Mercury's death, staying at number one for five weeks. In 1976 the record also reached #1 in Australia, Belgium, Canada, New Zealand and the Netherlands, and made top ten in several other countries. In the United States, the single was also a success, although to a lesser extent than in the UK. The original single, released in early 1976, reached number nine on the Billboard Hot 100, while a re-release in 1992 (timed to tie in with the song's appearance in the hit film Wayne's World) reached number two.

Is anyone else sick of hearing Bohemian Rhapsody?

I admit, “Bohemian Rhapsody” is something I wind up hearing all too often even after all these years. It’s one of those songs that has been overplayed for years, almost entering that vaunted category of “musical hell” reserved for other overplayed songs like “Tie a Yellow Ribbon” and “You Light Up My Life” that seemed to have been played every five minutes on AM stations back in the day until everybody ran screaming. What really frosts the cookie for me however is “Stairway to Heaven” and radio didn’t didn’t cause me the problem.Back in the 90’s I had a side business called Travlin’ Music Co. where I sold vintage guitars and other instruments, amps and music supplies from an converted Carney trailer at flea markets, trade days, outdoor events and shows across Texas on weekends. It was a great experience, a chance to talk music with some great people, and even a chance to pick a few with some old timers including one guy that played with Bob Wills in the Light Crust Doughboys days (early 1930’s) and could still play one hell of a fiddle at around 90. What did drive me nuts though was, for some reason every would be guitarist under 40 wanted to test drive a guitar by playing their version of “Stairway to Heaven”. I suspected at the time they really wanted to impress me and the other people in the area with their skill, and a few did just that. HOWEVER, there were the other folks that actually performed the hearing version of a train wreck, that once witnessed can’t be removed from your head. I now have a flinch that happens every time I hear the opening to Stairway Even now it’s all I can do to keep from running screaming. Please, if you play guitar, when you test one, play what you need to assure yourself that it does or doesn’t have the sound in your head you’r looking for, but remember the guy behind the counter is there to sell guitars! He can’t get you recording contract no matter how good you are, and he has to remain smiling and pleasant no matter what you do to his hearing. Fire it up and make a decision, not a concert, and the price may just be bit more negotiable on the axe and they may just be glad to see you come back again. If the counter guy gets wild eyed and ducks when you rip into “Stairway” don’t take it personally, just tell me hi, and change song, Please!!!

Why is "Bohemian Rhapsody" considered the best song ever?

Hmm..So what is so great about "Bohemian Rhapsody?" A quick answer is ‘no one has a clue. While it is a son’s confession of a murder to his mother for some, others believe it to mean spiritual redemption, or have some reference to Mercury’s sexuality while some just find it a good song to head bang on. There are many obvious reasons like- Freddie Mercury sang it, it is one of the best Queen songs, I have tried to find some interesting facts about the song and some on the mystery called Freddie-· Though he created the riff on piano, Freddie didn’t consider himself a particularly great pianist. It was said that he dreaded performing ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ live because he worried that he might miss a key here or there. Later on, he stopped playing piano in concerts.· The promotion had become a big hurdle due to the lengthy song and opera style of singing. The video, shot in just 4 hours, however catapulted the song to success. Years later, the classic scene in the 1992 film Wayne’s World, on the other hand, took 10 hours to film (watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=... ) where actors found it difficult to remember the lyrics. The song got a new life, as a result of this movie.· Many of the words used in the song come from various religions and cultures. "Bismillah" is one of these and it means ‘In the name of Allah’, ‘Scaramouch" means ‘A stock character of the Italian commedia dell'arte’ and ‘Beelzebub’ is one of the many names given to The Devil as per the Biblical sources. Even Galileo’ is used in the harmonies as an ode to the astronomer which led to many overdubs as Mercury would add a couple of more ‘Galileo’ every time they dubbed.· When the song was released in 1975, Elton John considered the 6 minute song “weird” and too long for the radio. He paid a tribute to Mercury, a year after his death at the 1992 “Concert for life.”· None of the band members ever expressed the meaning of the song. They firmly believed that the song gets destroyed if a meaning is attached to it and wanted to maintain the greatness of the song where everyone could relate to it as her own personal experiences in her own life. It was for the best!Signing off with the song itself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=...

Why do people hate the rock band Queen?

Okay, let me just put this out there: I am a HUGE Queenie. I have been a Queen fan since 2009 and I'm obsessed with the members and their music, for crying out loud, Roger Taylor inspired me to play the drums. My sister and my mom HATE them. My sister calls Freddie, Brian, John, and Roger "things" and my friends and my dad are not too crazy about them either but they don't hate them. I don't get what their problem is, why do some people hate the band Queen?
