Why Do Some People In A Minority Group Have A Victim Mentality

Do a lot of white people have a victim mentality?

They are always crying bout how "hard it is to be white" and that whites "suffer the most racism" and how whites are losing their country's. They can be racist to everybody, but are so quick to play the victim role. And they say blacks act like victims...

Why are there so many people with victim mentality?

I have an alternative question after seeing several racially-motivated “victim mentality” posts in the Related Questions section. Why do people cling to the assumption that all individual problems are caused by the individual themselves, and that victimhood is a subjective, easily removable state with no basis in material reality?I can’t answer why so many people have a ‘victim mentality’ because I’m not exactly in the mood to try and prove the existence of oppressive social systems (racism, sexism, ableism, classism) to people who don’t ‘believe’ in them. That is a 100% fruitless activity and it’s like trying to use science to talk to a climate change denier. But I will say that if a person has a certain paradigm in that the world we currently live in is an equal one (it isn’t always) and that all problems can be traced back to individual actions created in a cultural vacuum (they can’t always be), then what do you think their reaction will be when they encounter someone with a problem that says otherwise?Enter victim blaming, which is a poorly understood, extremely popular coping mechanism that happens when one encounters empirical evidence that points to the world being an ultimately unfair place. When one is confronted with a problem or deficit that is, in fact, the result of external institutions (which, in turn, are run by individuals), then they are likely to experience a slow realization that any benefits or societal leg-ups that they have may not entirely be the result of their own hard work or moral superiority. So in order to reconcile that cognitive dissonance and reestablish comfortable equilibrium, the person tends to get on Quora (or Facebook, or Tumblr, or Instagram) and insinuate that entire groups of people have fabricated their shared problems in their head. Because the alternative (that the world unequally rewards some and punishes others in a self-perpetuating cycle) is too uncomfortable to actually consider.

When people talk about oppressed minorities in America, why do they mention Mexicans and black people more than Asians?

Like Jack Nicholson said in The Department, “In this country no one gives it to you, you have to take it.”Asians do not play into the SJW narrative of the victim mentality. Even though Asians, of whichever ethnicity, have suffered from discrimination just as badly as other minority groups. However, most Asians value education and self-imposed success more than any other races. They understand that respect is earned not given, through hard-work not begging.Liberal whites don’t seem to incite a national movement when they see Asian kids get bullied in school everywhere in this country. They don’t initiate an “Asian acceptance” movement when they see Asian men falling to the bottom of the barrel in the dating market due to Hollywood stereotypes. Asians sure as hell have to rely on themselves to climb out these pitfalls. The Irish didn’t create a SJW movement back in the 1900s, instead they earned their place in this country by themselves.

Why do white people avoid talking about race?

I agree you completely. How can things improve if others pretend the problems don't exist?

I'm not sure why they feel uncomfortable. Perhaps because they don't want to be seen as racists, or feel that minorities might blame whites for some of the racial tensions going on and to avoid the "obligatory" white guilt, and maybe they just don't care because they're very usually not the victims. You very rarely see them being victims of systematic racism.

I remember this one time, I was on the bus with 2 or 3 white kids who went to my high school. We were talking about bad childhood memories, and I told them of the first time I experienced overt racism when I was about 8, and some young men in a sports car tried to run me over. They all fell silent and it was really awkward. I had no idea it would have that effect, I didn't mean to make it feel uncomfortable for them. I'm truly over it but why is it bad to talk about it?

I hope some people will get over this. Let's work together towards improving society, and removing stereotypes and racist behaviours (whether overt or covert).

Why do white people get mad about black history month or B.E.T. ?

Black people are a minority and we never learn about our history other than we were slaves at school but people get mad about black history month. White history is talked about every day all day from their slanted prospective. Every channel on T.V. is W.E.T. especially CMT so why do people complain, is it just to whine or do you just don't wont blacks to have anything.

Are there a lot of angry people in America?

Yes and no. Most Americans/US Citizens are not inherently angry. There are select groups who, due to perpetuation of victim mentality, believe they're owed something and are angry they don't get it. Usually, inner-city minority groups, people under 35, or extremely far left- or right-leaning.However, the US does come across as very angry, and not simply for the protests on the news. The thing is that most Americans are very stressed. Many nations practice long lunch breaks or siesta-type periods in the afternoon. Only those on salary have paid vacation, and employers often pressure their employees not to use it. Also, only those who work through lunches move up in the corporate world. America's work system is built for people who thrive under pressure; they're the ones who take the most work, get promoted the fastest, and them make everyone who doesn't thrive under pressure stressed beyond belief. Once a person is under that much stress, every emotion is more pronounced and limits are hit more quickly. Someone who is usually very calm and easygoing becomes angry irrationally fast, and agitated at changing plans. Everyone seems angry because, in reality, we're stressed. In rare circumstances, you'll find people that don't fit in either category, but usually, they are people who have found out that they don't want to be stressed, and draw a limit before they're pushed too far. Most, though, won't back down until a hard line is imposed, so those people seem angry when, instead, they're simply defensive.

Why dont we see other minorities (Asians, Hispanics, Indians, Muslims etc) that cry racism & demand equality? Why is it always the Negroes?

The main reason we hear SO MUCH WHINING from the ghetto crowd is that on the whole *blacks can not compete due to the fact they are not so bright. This low IQ coupled with victim mentality propagated by black leaders like Jesse and Al BIGBOY Sharpton and many, many other black "leaders" is a toxic brew for the entire country.
