Why Do We Lose Anything Faster Than To Get Something

Why do men lose weight faster than woman?

My boyfriend and I have been eating well, working out on the treadmill about 1/2 hour day,(5 days a week) in general eating healthy watching the portions etc. But he is losing weight ALOT faster than I am. I am 39 and he is 47 if that matters, and yes he has about 60 lbs to lose and I have about 30 lbs to lose. Do I need to kick up my work out? Maybe I do 45 minutes and he does 30?

I am happy for him, it just seems I am not doing enough. Anyone care to explain?

Do things that are smaller lose heat faster?

Short answer, no and yes. However you must understand why. While the rate of heat loss is proportional to the surface area and the larger wire looses heat energy at a faster rate than the smaller wire, the way you stated the question it is not as simple as looking at only the surface area. When you heat the wire to a given temperature you have added more heat energy to the larger wire than you have added to the smaller wire. To raise the wire to a given temperature requires more heat for the thicker wire. The amount of heat added to the wire is proportional to the Mass which, in this case, is directly proportional to the volume. Now, we must consider the ratio of the surface area to the volume or mass of the wire.Surface area will grow in proportion to the SQUARE of the linear dimensions. The mass of the wire is a volume, and will grow in proportion to the CUBE of the linear proportions. If the larger wire is twice the diameter of the smaller wire, the larger wire we'll have four times the surface area, but it will have eight times the volume or mass. This tells us that the larger wire will have eight times the volume and therefore 8 times the heat energy, but only four times the surface area true which to remove that heat. Therefore, the smaller wire will cool faster. This is a factor in the study of what is called a scaling. As object scale in size, volumes change as the cube of the linear dimension and surface areas or cross-sections change as the square of the linear dimensions.…SO… The larger wire looses heat energy faster, however the smaller wire decreases temperature faster.Because bone strength is related to the cross section of a bone this is why larger animals have to have proportionally thicker bones. Also, this is why small children should not be allowed into hot tubs and they should be bundled up very well in cold weather. Their surface area is much larger in proportion to their body mass and they lose heat through their skin when it is cold and they gain heat through their skin when it is hot much faster than an adult does.

Why does my face lose it's tan ?

It could be you apply more sunblock on your face. In addition, the face contains a lot of blood vessels and the skin cells on the face get renewed faster than other parts of the body, so you'd lose the skin that was tanned.
