Why do people waste time?

It’s a matter of perceptionThose who waste time on a regular basis value short term gratification over long term gratificationThe sad thing is, this isn’t entirely their faultWe live in a society that advocates instant gratification and distractionIn order to overcome this, one must take the devices that tend to distract us the mostOur cell phonesOur computersAnd optimize them for productivity, rather than distractionBecause how to most of us facilitate our creative and productive work in todays day and age?Using our computers and our cell phones.That’s exactly why I created my ultimate workflow masterclass, because I knew there was a desperate need for something like this that wasn’t being metThink of your digital devices as your digital spaceIf they’re messy and organized, your mind will be tooClean them upOptimize them for your benefit, rather than your hinderanceMuch love,Justin C ScottTwitter | IG | Medium | Email List

Why do smart people waste so much time?

I guess most things are too easy for smart people, you see it a lot in under stimulated school kids, you need to move the teaching to their skill level.Smart does not equal disciplined, just because you have it doesn’t mean you are any good at putting it to good use. I have met crazy smart people who spend 16+ hours on video games every day of the year. Since everything is so easy, everything is also boring.A lot of the really smart ones I have met in the IT field have been somewhere on the Asperger’s spectrum, they are not very comfortable with people, but are amazingly good at patterns, logic and reasoning.A good deal of very clever companies in Europe have started hiring people with Asperger’s for code reviews, they spot errors in hours it takes normal people weeks, months or never to find.Sorry for ranting :DTL:DR They are bored and smart does not equal disciplined.

Why do people waste time on youtube?

You mean by watching videos?I use to watch a lot of videos when I finished an exam and didn’t really have anything planned for myself afterwards. So I would come home after all my exams are over and no more studying or school and just watch videos. Helped me de stress and relax.But for now, I changed that habit because I know after an exam the world does not stop moving. It means that I can’t just drop everything and watch a million and one videos.So I think the simple answer is this, people use it as entertainment. And that is all good until you realize 5 hours passed and you are still watching the best talent auditions of 2010. If however you are feeding your brain with all the great content that is on there then that is another story.When you have a plan for your life you realize how valuable time is you manage it better. You feel this sense of urgency when you are wasting time and you do the things that you actually have to do.I don’t know if my answer helped. I know it was all over the place. I’m still working on structuring my answers to communicate them better. But I hope it helped. :)

Why do people waste their lives working?

Ecclesiastes 1
Everything Is Meaningless
1 The words of the Teacher, [a] son of David, king in Jerusalem:
2 "Meaningless! Meaningless!"
says the Teacher.
"Utterly meaningless!
Everything is meaningless."

3 What does man gain from all his labor
at which he toils under the sun?

4 Generations come and generations go,
but the earth remains forever.

5 The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.

6 The wind blows to the south
and turns to the north;
round and round it goes,
ever returning on its course.

7 All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
there they return again.

8 All things are wearisome,
more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.

9 What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again;
there is nothing new under the sun.

10 Is there anything of which one can say,
"Look! This is something new"?
It was here already, long ago;
it was here before our time.

11 There is no remembrance of men of old,
and even those who are yet to come
will not be remembered
by those who follow.

Wisdom Is Meaningless
12 I, the Teacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 I devoted myself to study and to explore by wisdom all that is done under heaven. What a heavy burden God has laid on men! 14 I have seen all the things that are done under the sun; all of them are meaningless, a chasing after the wind.
15 What is twisted cannot be straightened;
what is lacking cannot be counted.

16 I thought to myself, "Look, I have grown and increased in wisdom more than anyone who has ruled over Jerusalem before me; I have experienced much of wisdom and knowledge." 17 Then I applied myself to the understanding of wisdom, and also of madness and folly, but I learned that this, too, is a chasing after the wind.

18 For with much wisdom comes much sorrow;
the more knowledge, the more grief.

Do you HATE it when people waste food?

Not necessarily.

For example, every single place where I go to eat insists on portion sizes that serve 3 people. I have no desire to become overweight and get Type 2 diabetes. I generally eat alone, so I can't share it. I eat a reasonable amount (til I'm full), and don't take leftovers home, because it'll just sit there in a styrofoam box I don't consider this to be wasting food. I didn't tell the restaurant that half a chicken is a normal serving size, or that 16 ounces of steak is normal either. It's not.

But there's really no way that eating or not eating something on your plate is going to affect a starving person in another state or another country. It's better to donate to a food pantry, which I do, or even better, participate in gleaning, where farmers allow volunteers to go to the fields that have been harvested, but there's still some produce remaining. We pick what's left and deliver it to various agencies in town that feed people in need.

Why do people waste time hating others

I must admit I am guilty of doing it myself but when you waste so much energy on hating someone, it just makes you hate them more and it gets stressful. Too much hate in your heart is definitely not good, my mom always tells me that.

Why do we waste food?

Supermarkets and stores overstock so they won’t run out - and they have some sales tricks that lead to food waste. You have probably noticed most supermarkets start with a produce section, where items are stacked high. This has two purposes; a plentitude of colours stimulate out willingness to buy, and not just in the produce section.A plentitude of fruits and vegetables also tell our hunter-gatherer instinct, that we have come to “a good spot in the woods” for foraging, a feeling we remember, and which makes us more likely to return to that “spot in the woods” - to the store. Another factor is expiration dates. The sell-by-date is law to stores - and because of the over-stocking they will more often than not be left with expired items. In some cases they get a new delivery, and simply toss some of the stock to make room for the new.Restaurants waste a lot - especially places with a buffets contribute to the waste - for the same reasons as the well stocked store, as well as the three hour rule (food can only be at a temperature between 11*C and 64*C for three hours tops). In addition food safety of course leads to some food waste, because of some “better-safe-than-sorry” rules. If you drop a piece of food on the floor at home, you might pick it up, rinse it, ad eat it. That’s (obviously) a big no-go in restaurants.Private households mainly waste food because people confuse the different types of expiration dates: use-by-dates and best-before-dates. And that a lot of people take those dates at face value. They are in fact more like guidelines.Use your senses - sight, smell, taste, and of course your common sense!

Why do people waste money on tattoos? Does it have a lot to do about insecurity?

Why risk infection? It seems people only get them to impress their friends or getting tattoos seem to make them feel better about themselves. Does insecurity have anything to do with their decision to get tattoos? I have many friends with tattoos, however I myself have never found a reason to get one.

Why do people in the US waste so much electricity and water?

When something is very cheap, and you can economize on some expensive by using more of the cheap thing, that makes economic sense.Water and electricity are cheap in most states.The United States, outside of the intermountain desert areas, has enormous supplies of fresh water, it falls out of the sky in the form of rain or snow.98% of it is going to the ocean one way or another, so it might as well irrigate a golf course.The U.S. also produces large amounts of electricity, which is relatively cheap.Electricity production is highly automated, and does not take much in the way of human resources, which are expensive.Electricity is used to keep lights on to deter crime, which is very expensive.
