Why do you think Nick Fury revived Agent Coulson from the dead?
Well, I think it's for two things. 1-Fury really liked Coulson. He considered him to be a great asset and an awesome agent. Plus, he really wanted to let's say 'beat' Loki by saving Phil. 2-Coulson might be needed for some strange reason we don't know yet. Maybe Fury tried an experiment with him (that blue blood was one) which he was planning to use to save more people. or... 3- They need him for some hidden purpose unrevealed yet. Sorry but honestly Nick Fury is full of secrets and he has more secrets under those secrets, so I guess we'll find out the truth only when he makes up his mind and tell us. Hope it helps! ,)
How did Phil Coulson survive after the events of ‘The Avengers’?
After Loki stabbed Coulson with his scepter from behind, it was sure that Coulson wasn’t going to make it out of his injuries. He lost too much blood and there was too much damage done to the body.To Fury, Coulson was just as important to him as any other Avenger or another close-knitted S.H.I.E.L.D. agent like Maria Hill.So, Fury ordered his agents to transfer Coulson to a place called the “Guest House.” It was actually a former WWII bunker converted into SHIELD’s primary research facility for “Project T.A.H.I.T.I.,” a project Coulson actually used to lead, but resigned out of and ordered its shutdown because of its unethical practices and the disturbing results it showed on human subjects.Now, Project T.A.H.I.T.I. was considered to be a super-duper classified project because the project involves using a Kree’s dead body to extract its bodily fluids to harvest it and synthesize the drugs present in the blood to create a healing serum called the “GH.325.”This serum is capable of providing enhanced cellular regeneration to severely damaged human tissue or even cure life-threatening diseases, so it was possible to even bring a person back to life with it.They administered the serum in the surgery that they did on him. Coulson had to go through seven surgeries in order to come back to life. He also went through the same results the past human subjects went through - he saw alien symbols, carved them into anything he could find, lost his mind and attacked the doctors. So, they decided to do the same thing they did to the other subjects:Mind-wipe him to re-establish his sanity and get back to S.H.I.E.L.D. like normal.In order to do that, they had to literally open his cranium and perform neural micro-surgery directly on his brain to alter his memories. They implanted the belief that he was revived in Tahiti, with a vivid memory of him getting a massage, so he could deal with the pain in a much better manner, calling the whole experience “The Magical Place.”So, while the serum was what kept Coulson alive, it was only because of that messed up mind-wipe that he is functioning like himself. After uncovering everything and finally finding out the truth, he doesn’t wish to live any longer.It wasn’t until Season 4 that he made the deal to let the serum in his body burn, in exchange for using the powers of the Ghost Rider just long enough to take down AIDA. He is currently in the process of dying from the stab wounds, but very slowly.
Did Agent Coulson actually die in The Avengers?
Yes he did, but wasbrought back to life by a combination of alien blood and unknown other means. It was this alien blood that caused Coulson and others to be infected which causes a need to draw out a certain pattern. It was eventually figured out to be a map of an ancient inhuman city. His mind was scrubbed because the people bringing Coulson back to life could not stop the impulse to constantly create the pattern otherwise. He was dead for days and Fury had a false memory implanted so Coulson thought he faked his death to motivate the Avengers and spent his time at TIHITI which was found out to really be the name of the program responsible for his revival. But he did actually die in the film.
