Why Does My Cat Come In The Bathroom With Me

Why does my cat like the bathroom?

I don’t know if the cat is new, but if it is, he might come out eventually. Cats can be somewhat reclusive initially, but they are curious too and ultimatly usually take some time to search their surroundings and get used to them. You can also try and draw them out by placing a can of cat food or some treats just outside the door, but then leave it there and walk away. He’ll accept it as a sign of peace and be encouraged to come out and explore.Cats do like caves and corners generally too though, it’s more cozy and quiet than open spaces, like a little bedroom just their size, so he might just like it generally too. Some cats also like drinking water from the bathroom sink. They like it cold and fresh. You could try and see if he’s thirsty at all.

Why does my cat like to go to the bathroom with me?

I have three cats, and this is normal for them, but strange to us. I have figured out that it does not matter if you are in the bathroom they will want to spend time with you.
In my case, usually the bathroom is the first place I go when I come home. They have not seen me all day, so they join me in there. Of course your cat wants attention so he gets on your lap. This is okay for him, because like me, you probably have a very hectic schedule and your cat gets his attention where and when he can. It does not occur to him that you are using the bathroom, he just misses you and wants to be with you right then.
I have one cat the will come in, walk around my feet, rub on my legs, and then stand on his back legs with his front legs on the wall for me to rub his back and shoulders. He will leave after I pet him, and let him know that I see him. He sits facing out of the door when he is done greeting me.
My other ones will sit on there with me, and I even have one that has to get on my lap by climbing up through my underwear! The first time she did it, I was like "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" She got on my lap and laid on her back with her paws up and started to purr. I was just trying to figure out what she was thinking, but she just wanted to have my attention and she knew just how to get it.

If it does not bother, let your cat do what makes him happy. Just try to distract him when you your guests come over, and need to use the restroom. I have had a hard time explaining the please leave the door cracked, because my cats like to go with you to the bathroom.
Good luck!

Why does my cat follow me into the bathroom?

I have read where a lot of people's cats follow them in the bathroom, but I wanted to post this anyways. My cat follows me in the bathroom. She doesn't really like to be blocked out of a room. She gets all 'interested' when I open cabinets and doors. When she does her quick 'snoop' around the bathroom, she will sit at my feet and give me 'the stare'. She stares for a few seconds and then meows once. Stares a little bit longer and meows once. Etc. If I talk to her, she will meow once (like she is replying). Her litter box, food, and water are all in our bedroom. Food bowl is full. Water is full. Litter box is clean (she will not use a semi-dirty litter box). What I am curious about, is there anyone else whose cat does this too. Or is my cat just a weirdo (lol) .

Here is some info about her:
I like to call my cat a 'priss' or a 'snob'. She doesn't like being around people she doesn't know. She likes her independence. She loves to be petted though (only when she feels like it). If there is any poop in her litter box, she will not use it. Instead, she will go elsewhere (we learned that the hard way. So we ALWAYS keep a clean litter box.) She does not like the bottom of her food bowl to show, so she will not leave you alone until you put more food in it. She would much rather drink out of the dog's water bowl than her own, yet she still likes her own water available. No we did not do this to her. She is about 3-4 years old and had her for about 8 months.

Why does my cat cry at the bathroom door?

My cat Misty does the same thing. I think it's sweet! It means she loves you so much she doesn't want to ever be separated from you. When I come out of the shower, Misty always meows and rubs my legs. She either misses you or is, like you suggested, worried about you. She may hear rushing water noises and thinks something is happening to you. It might assure her to talk softly to her through the door when you take your showers. I let my cat into the bathroom with me and she just sits on the toilet waiting, but if you don't want her in the bathroom you can just talk to her through the door to let her know you are safe.

Why Does My Cat Watch Me Go To The Bathroom?

Aside from the fact that your cat is concerned about you when you're not present (as much as people say they're not domestic cats are social animals and get lonely!) you're also doing something that the cat cannot stand for.

You're (in his mind) marking your territory.

Now because the two of you are friendly with each other, he's simply paying the area a visit to say "MY territory. Not yours." He's not going to fight you over it, he's just going to rub himself on various parts of the room to get your stink off it and put his stink back on.

Since he already views the bathroom as his room, when you visit him, he's like "dude, my room! Go away!"

Remember - you can own a dog, but a cat owns you!

Why does my cat meow when I go to the bathroom?

My cat does this everytime without fail.
I think it's because the first thing I do when I wake up everyday is use the bathroom and then immediately give him his breakfast.
I think he thinks if I go into the bathroom its "food time".

Why does my cat sit outside the bathroom ...?

Generally, cats do not like closed doors.
The bathroom is part of the cat's territory and having access to all parts of its territory is important to cats.
He is probably anxious about the door being shut and once you open it the anxiety is relieved.

Try closing the bathroom door with no one in it and see if he does the same thing; if he does, there is your answer.

Why does my cat wait outside the bathroom?

Both cats and dogs cannot work out this bathroom thing and think there is a magical door in there which you are going to disappear into and they will not find you.
Basically with a cat it is sheer curiosity and love for you and for a dog it is pure bonding and love as they want to be with you all the time.
On occasion cats sometimes do this if they want a drink of water as if they do not have a bowl filled up they know the bathroom has water in it.

Why does my cat cry so much when I go to the bathroom?

Actually my cat is very attached to my husband. His name is Hugs and when ever my husband goes to the bathroom and closes the door Hugs scratches the door and sits there crying his heart out like if my husband will never come out. I am wondering if he misses him or hates the door closed?

Why does my cat always follow me into the bathroom?

I love this question! If anyone knows the actual scientific answer for it, it'd be great to know. I have wondered myself for years why a glaring of cats is a requirement when I have a shower or use the toilet.Although for the most part two of our cats are ‘typical’ cats, in that they socialize when they want to and are somewhat independent, our third cat definitely acts more like a dog than a cat. He follows one of us every where and could probably be carried around all day in a sling, quite happily. Using the toilet is not a solo mission in our home, ever. One is at my feet, one is on the side of the tub & one is in the sink, wailing for the water to be turned on. In the cooler months when we're wearing pants, one jumps in them as soon as they're below your knees (drives my fiancé crazy!) They all seem to be looking at me with the inquisitive look of a toddler; “Whatcha doing?” “What's that you're sitting on?” “Can we help?!”My guess is curiosity & because they can't figure it out, they keep coming back! One of our cats used to come IN the shower with us when he was a kitten & sit in the tub at the far end until he got too big & started to get wet. Now when I pull back the curtain after a shower, there are at least two furry faces looking at me like “Where did you go?! We were worried!”
