Why does my cat hate everyone but me?
Hey pet lovers :) I've had my cat for two years and had him since he was eight weeks old. Hes being neutered and isn't allowed outside, I've lost to many cats outside. He was my mams cat kitten and I got him off her. He has being mollycoddled all his life. He spoilt and loved by me and he walks around the full house with me. My little shadow. But when I lived in my old house, he suddenly attacked my little brother who was eight at the time. I was stunned he had never did that before. I stroked him and he was fine. But when he caught sight of my brother his growled and his tailed went puffy. Now he just has to walk passed him and he goes to attack him. My little brother finds it funny but he could hurt him. Luckily he doesn't use his claws. He also growls at my friend whos also a cat owner. And my mam came in the other day and he went to attack her also. What is going on with him? Hes lovely with me and my partner but hates anyone else?

... This is happening because the cat prefers you over everyone else. If you're the one giving him what he needs then it is obvious that you are his favorite human. Since he is still only a kitten, he may mellow out after a while when he gets older. Does the other members have a dog, or do they mess with the cat? Sometimes cats do not like the vibes off of certain people. Maybe the cat does not like having a whole bunch of people putting hands in his face. It may overwhelm him and when this happens he looks for you because you are his human. When a cat is acquainted with another human or cat, walking up to it and trying to pet it and touch it and get close to it is considered aggressive by the cat. Perhaps if your family members got down to his level and calmly extended a hand and waited to see if the kitten comes to them? Again, if he is only a kitten then it just may be because he is still a kitten. Cat language is much different from our interpretation of body language, remember.

I couldn't tell you what you did to change his attitude toward you but most cats love to be petted. Try not to pick him up, because cats won't feel comfortably with you holding them until they grow to love you. When I brought my kitten home, she was terrified of everyone and completely antisocial. So my brother and I just sat next to her for hours while she was resting and gently stroked her. Within a few days, she loved us. A lot of cats don't like being picked up when they're playing as well. If you interrupt him while he is preoccupied with something that is to him a whole lot more interesting/fun, he will run away from you and dart in the other direction. It's best to approach him while he is resting. Also this is a male cat so the person who said that he thinks you are dominant may be right. Male cats have this thing about being dominant. Is he neutered? Because hissing and growling is something cats only do when they're really pissed off. Also, I've heard male cats are supposed to be more affectionate. So, I'd say just give it time. Approach him only while he is resting and instead of picking him up, sit next to him and pet him. Eventually, he'll come around. Once he gets used to your presence in this new setting. Chances are, the move itself has upset him. Cats often freak out when placed in a new location where they have to once again establish their territory. Just give him some time. EDIT: In light of the details you just added, I think your cat may be suffering a medical condition. Excessive licking of fur and sensitivity when touched are signs of some kind of illness. Maybe he has a skin condition. It's best to have the vet check this out.
My cat hates everyone except me what to do?
I got my cat when he was about 5 weeks old, a little young, but the lady I got him from had like 5 momma cats and like 30 babies and had them in kennels to take to the pound, I would've taken them all home if I could, anyways my cat kept staring at me and pawing at me so I had to take him, when I brought him home ( I was 16) I thought my mother was going to kill me, her cat usually hates other animals, but he accepted this little kitten, and this little kitten seemed to love everyone, after my mom moved a few months later when I was 17, My cat decided he hated the world except me, if people come near him or try to pet him he bites (he used to scratch, and normally I wouldn't have had him de clawed but I'm pregnant and I want to try to keep him in a happy home) I mean I work in a pet store, and the vet techs at my office shop there and if I tell them guess who's coming to see you they say no why I'm terrified because I don't want him to hurt the baby, and I'm sure he wont bother her until she tries to go up to him, but is there anything I can do this cat cuddles me and kisses me and he just loves me but I can't possibly put him over my baby suggestions please?
I hate everyone except for my family..is this normal?
Yeah this is entirely normal... It means no one e;lse has gained your trust and that as your family has Soon you will start to like other people but at the moment its completely fine =]
Why does my cat only like me and dislikes everyone else?
Truly, the only thing I can say about this is…cats have very strange behaviors. I know a lot of cat owners who say pretty much the same thing that their cat doesn’t like other people. I have a dog who loves everyone BUT me. LOL. She’s spoiled and loves playing hard to get, so I actually end up spending more time staring at or chasing her back end then I ever see her face. She’s the type who would run to a complete stranger just to annoy me. I’ll trade you!Some animals are just extremely protective of their owners. They perceive anyone and everyone as a threat. There was a show on about a small dog trainer, I want to say the show was called “My Little Monster,” and actually discussed animals who felt that they had to protect their “hoomans” from absolutely EVERYONE. Why is my cat terrified of everyone but me?
That's just the way some cats are. It's not unusual for them to be this way. I've 5 cats. All but one is like that. They don't like strangers or strange things in their house. Cat's alot of will respond negatively to any change in their environment. Mine get upset when I move things around in my apt. Cat's aren't like dogs where they just come up to you wanting you to pet them. It takes ALOT OF PATIENCE WITH CATS. YOU HAVE TO WIN THEM OVER. BUT ON THE OTHER HAND SOME ARE JUST NATURALY friendly. CATS do things their own way, own time. You can't dictate to a cat. The more you try to make them do something the more they will rebel. They are a very fiercely independent animal. They take orders from no one. They are of their own creature. All 5 of mine are rescue cats. 2 full blood Black Bombays. Male, female. A Dilute Tortie, Tortoise Shell,and a female Tabby. They are very affectionate cats. Iove on me kiss on me, pike in the bed at night with me. Bombays have a nickname, called velcrow cats. They usauly single out one person and follow them all the house. Mine are always in my lap. Especially my female. She's the worlds worst at. If I don't hold her she'll slide right off my lap. That's how relaxed she is. Not to there's no trust issue me and them. Cat's do things at their own pace not yours. Just be patient and take your time including your friends. Let them come to them on their terms. It will work out.
