Why Does My Dog Whine And Wag Her Tail At The Same Time

Why does my dog whine and wag her tail at the same time?

Whining doesn't always mean that a dog is unhappy or hurt. It's just sheer excitement. When I or my boyfriend come home my dog will wag her tail furiously and whine at the same time. The same happens when we meet another dog she likes.

Why does my dog whine and wag her tail like she wants to play when she sees another dog, but once we get up close she growls?

There are two possibilities:If she whines and wags her tail but at the same time has an alert look on her face, eyes focused and ears erect then she is not looking to play with the dog but rather sees it as a threat. The whining and wagging is for you as she doesn't want to offend you in any case.If there is a relaxed and playful expression on her face, no wrinkles on the forehead, ears dropped back, wide smile, then she is in a playful mood. However, she starts to growl because 1. It's a strange dog 2. Maybe she is leashed and realises that her defence is weak 3. You are with her and she gets protective out of instinct. But primarily it's out of fear of a potential conflict .The solution to this is proper socialising in a relaxed environment. Both dogs should be made familiar in each other's presence and and the physical distance between the two should be reduced gradually and comfortably.

Why does my dog whine and wag her tail when playing hide and seek?

She'll run around and find me, and once she does she starts whining and wagging her tail. I'll come out of my hiding spot and she'll immediately start licking my face. Am I scaring her or is she OK with this game?

Why does my older dog whine at my new puppy?

I have a full-grown, older Bichon Frise and two new, 8 week-old puppies ("chugs" chihuahua / pugs). My dog runs from the puppies, and even growls when they come too close. So, why does she approch them, whine, sniff, wag her tail, and place her paw on the puppies when they're sleeping or being calm?

Do dogs dream? My dog sometimes wags her tail when she's sleeping, as though she's suddenly very happy.

Oh, absolutely they dream.Keep watching your dog while she sleeps. You might see other things. Almost all of the dogs I’ve had did the following in their sleep:“Running” (lying on the side while moving the lower legs).Sniffing. At nothing.“Barking” (not really, just little yelps).I am convinced that this means that my dogs were dreaming. If your dog is wagging her tail in her sleep, I’m assuming that her dreams are happy!

Does your dog growl and wag it's tail at the same time?

I have a 13 year old rough coated Jack Russell named Sam and have had him about a year. He loves me to pieces and even adores my partner, Steve but has always had this weird relationship with him where he growls if Steve comes near. It's hard to tell if he's growling because Steve is coming near him or near me because Sam is at my side or on my lap 90% of the time. Even when he's not near me and Steve comes over to see me from the other side of the room, Sam will run and gallop as fast as he can to jump inbetween us before Steve manages to reach me, growling as he goes. It's a proper throat growl, if Steve touches him or starts to play with him a little, he even begins showing his teeth and has on a few occasions bitten him or tried to (but never drawing blood) but all the time he is doing this, he is wagging his tail. And no matter how far it goes, if Steve backs off at any point during this, Sam clambers up as close as he can to him, wagging his tail even more and basically trying to sit on him to get him to stroke him some more. His growls turn into what we refer to as him calling him, he sort of talks, his mouth opening and shutting, whining and groaning and howling. When he really gets going, it sounds like he's saying hello or something. It's hard to explain but is so funny to listen to.

Is this just Sam's way of playing? I can't get my head around the growling and wagging tail together!

He doesn't play with me like this, in fact he's never growled at me even if I were to try to provoke it by playing with him, he just sort of sits there giving me this look like "hey woman, you're supposed to be cuddling me only! stop mucking around!"

What does it mean when a dog barks and wags its tail at the same time?

There are different wag stances as well.
A lot of dogs will bark and wag their tails to get another dogs attention to come play.
Another type would be standing guard at a house, and kind of saying "I know you're not a threat...but keep off the property"

Why does my Shih Tzu cry all the time?

My Shih Tzu cries at about just everything. Like when I leave the room and she can't find me, or when I let her outside to go potty and no one else is out there with her, sometimes even when we're all in the family room she starts crying at looking at me with her tail wagging a little. She cries when dogs bark, and when she sees another dog walking by our house. She cries at night when I'm in bed and she can't see me so I have to roll over to the side so she can see me. Why?!

Why does my dog whimper every time I look at her?

She starts wagging her tail and whimpers when I look at her. Other times she will just come up to me and whimper and wag her tail. Then when I pet her she stops and goes and lays down. She has never done this before. There is no change in the environment. It is as its always been except that now she seems to whimper whenever someone raises their voice. Also whenever I am upset she whimpers then too. Is it possible she's in pain or just sensitive to things? I know she has panic attacks during thunderstorms cause she hates the thunder. Maybe loud sounds are too much for her?
