Why Does My Older Cat Do This

Why does my older cat smell bad all of a sudden?

I have an old cat - between 19 adn 21 yo - who all of a sudden (past two weeks) smells bad. She insists on laying on my desk while I work, which is difficult enough to work around, but now she smells bad too. It's not just her breath, I don't think she farts, she just has a really strange almost repulsive odor about her. She's acting normal (except for wanting to be near me all the time) - her teeth are still white and strong, her eyes are still clear, she walks fine and can jump up to a chair or table fine. She's a little skinnier than normal, maybe, but not by a lot. She's indoor only, so she didn't roll in anything. What could it be?

Why does my younger cat groom the older one?

I have got 6 cats. All different ages. It is their way of trying to provoke playing. They like to lick them to show them attention... but then they want to play. Mine kick eachother like that after licking them ALLLLL the time. HOPEFULLY your older one will play back. I always tried to play with mine with a toy and they usually started playing at the same time... which caused them to want to play together. They do that stuff ALLL the time though. Its non stop for some of mine. But they wrap the paws around the neck and just kick and kick. Then the other will do the same and then usually one will jump up and run off and the other will chase him and then they do it all over again. They are just playing though, no one ever growls or hisses. If they do... (which is when they are asleep lol and one cat does it then too) then he always backs off cause he knows hes ticked em off. :) Its okay for them to do that.

Why does my younger cat bite my older cat on the neck?

He might be scared of the older cat or hate her this always happens to our cat this is what we do this is not abusive!

We let them fight then they'll get along with each other this ALWAYS happens if that doesn't happen then maybe that cat of your's might have a Disorder or something take them to the vet to see the problem!

-Hope i helped!!!

Why does my older cat Constantly lick th new kitten?

Your older cat has accepted the responibility of the parent/mentor of the younger cat. In this stage your older cat has accepted the responsibility of cleaning the kitten in his own personal routine of cleanliness and that is the role the parent cat takes on. . . . . I hope this helps.

Why does my 6 year old male cat lick our new 8 week old kitten and then bite his neck, but then lick him again

Your older cat is showing the younger cat that he is willing to protect him but will also "put him in order." My cat used to beat up my dogs to show that he is the original cat and no dog is coming in to change that. Until my other dog died, they protected my cat all the time. Don't worry too much about it, it's a cat thing. I don't know.

My 20 Year old Cat Spaces Out At Times, Why?

Hello everyone.

I have a 20 year old female cat that seems to sleep all the time. About 20 hours a day. I also notice that when she is awake she stares into space. She does this while on my lap, before getting out of her bed, in front of her food and water; It seems that she is doing it a lot! I just noticed about a day ago, that she will not really follow me around anymore. She just stays sleeping in her bed. Usually in the morning she would be waiting for me in the kitchen for food, but for the second day in a row she has not. She will, when she is hungry though, get out of her bed to go eat and then go right back to bed.
She's a very temper mental cat, so when I pick her up at times she growls at me, this is normal for her to do this, always has; I put her down, she then appears to stare into space again, looking like she's out of it, then about 10-20 seconds later snaps out of it. But she definitely does this on and off a lot.

Could this be because she's elderly? If anyone may know why could you tell me, or have any suggestions? She has an appointment with the vet this afternoon.
