How do people get the IP addresses of other chatters in yahoo chat rooms?
I am a regular chatter in a yahoo chat room and recently have changed my user name often as i have been receiving ims from another user saying they know who i am and yes profanity..even though there are times i am not chatting in the room but still in the room they enter and almost immediately know what new id name i am using..frustrating and uncomfortable..help

Yahoo mesenger- mail link won't work?
For a couple weeks, I can't get my yahoo messenger mail link to work. The one that says you have new messages when you sign in, then you click on it and it takes you to your inbox. I click on it, but nothing happens. I have no pop up blockers on that I can see. I've tried reinstalling twice and have restarted many times.

Truth is she's lying. An easy way to get a new IP address is unplug the power from the modem which may also be the firewall/router. Wait half an hour and plug it back in. You'll probably get a new IP address. The ISP's use dynamic IP addresses to prevent you from running a website or file server at home without paying for it and it constantly changes anyway. The first problem she has to get past is the router. Because you have more than one computer hooked up to the internet, the router is what is know as a Network Address Translation Firewall/router. You actually have a different address on your computer than the one at the firewall/router. The firewall/router changes the addresses from the internet to your local network addresses so that the your 2 computers can use the same internet connection. Unless you deliberately make changes in the firewall settings, the firewall doesn't know where to send information that isn't related to a request issued by one of your computers. So when it receives an unknown packet, it drops it. Unknown packets get dropped before they ever reach your computer. The next thing is never download anything from her. She could have a malware program that she might try to trick you into downloading. Be careful even downloading anything since there are tricks to hide the actual file names of files. Oh and lastly, she may be a he pretending to be a she. even if "she" has pictures, they may all be fake. I never fully trust anyone from the internet unless I meet them in person and then only in a crowded public setting where it is safe to do so with lots of escape routes such as a mall. Which service will replace the Yahoo public chat room after it gets discontinued by Yahoo?
Nowadays you have MANY new sites that try to replicate and give us the same experience that Yahoo has given us, but just about all of them fail to do it.There are exceptions, mind you, that try to do something a bit different. Gather Online comes to mind.But again, I doubt we’ll have the chance to experience Yahoo and MSN the way we used to in our teens. It’s just impossible, at least for me. While Gather Online does come close, there were just too many memories made in those times and I suppose it isn’t even fair to compare them either.
