Why Does Old Music Make Me Cry So Fast

Why does some music make you cry?

Moving of emotions…Songs make us cry not always. Songs are written to tell a story of how the writer feel or a writer may write a song to express a feeling. It be a happy feeling, feeling of losing someone, love, craziness and many others. All these are felt in a song, and when you relate to it, it has the power to elevate to higher standard of emotions. No the question to why songs make us cry are simply based on the choice of words and the reaction and feeling attached to it by the writer. It is also based on the sound in which it is sung. For instance, a dull song speaking of loneliness can't be accompanied with a happy tone in voice. It is based on the expression given by the writer to be exerted on the singer that would reach out to the heart of the listener.A writer may write a lyrics full of emotions but when it is sung wrongly by the singer the message becomes misinterpreted. Some songs might drive you into tears by watching the expressions of the singer even when it has a bad vocal quality and it can also divert your attention and concentration to it by just listening to it…The quality of a song is given by how well it is sung, expressed and felt by the listener.A song is another way of speaking to the souls and hearts of audience listening…

Why does old music make me sad?

It's simply nostalgia- it brings you back good or sad memories in the past...a quick trip down memory lane, so to speak.

Why do we get sad when we hear old music like that makes us reminisce?

When you hear an old song, you feel whatever was going on in your life, basically the feelings that you fely at that moment. To me… Songs are just as strong as scents. Everytime I smell CK One it reminds me of Jr.High and the crushes I had. The same for when I hear 112's cupid…… it reminds me of when I longed for companionship and was lonely. Eifel 65's im blue and Alice DJ's Rather Be Alone reminds me when my friends and I used to sneak out of our houses to do drugs and have fun. Im in my late 30s now, my friend who I used to party with has a kid now and hrr father passed. Songs can bring up the good, the bad and the funny….just like smells sounds resonate with your memory… The vibrations drum up old feelings. Its really phenomenal.

I feel like crying when I listen to some specific music, is this normal? What are reasons behind this

That’s a good sign of your emotions. That you are well connected - or a better way to say is - the songs are still deeply connected with you - your brain.Situations today demand least emotions out of a human (specially males) which has led to the problem of 1. people demanding “relaxing” songs more than ever and 2. while listening to your regular music, you don’t feel a thing. So, in today’s times - when you get touched by a song - be happy that it touches your soul. You are still what God intended you to be - i.e humans with emotions. That is the primary reason behind your question. AND that it is NOT a sign of weakness.

Why do people cry when they listen to orchestra music?

After more than half a century of concert-going, I have never once seen anyone cry; nor have I ever cried while listening to orchestral music. I feel the emotional content, but I don't feel the need to turn on the waterworks and boo-hoo like a child.

Why do I cry when I sing?

I remember being as young as 5 years old and trying to sing.Although I couldn’t sing half as good as I do now, I would still sing and sing and sing, all the time. And all the time, this would happen:Tears would slowly roll down my cheeks, no matter what I sang. Every. Single. Time.I could have been singing a random song, not emotional whatsoever, and tears would fall off. When I was growing up I never saw it as strange…Until my friends pointed it out and then everyone else who saw me sing.…Fast forward now, it’s been 15 years maybe, and this “secret talent” has gone down a bit, and I don’t always cry when I sing. It’s still a mistery to me, as why this happens.I was just researching this subject prior to writing this. I discovered many theories for this matter:There’s a physical issue, as in the sinuses of the nose are sensitive, and the vibration of the bones, while singing, is transfered to the tear duct of the eyes. Consequently we cry.The other theory, the more spiritual one, says that singing for some people is such a deep thing, that it touches hidden parts of your soul. Therefore one cries while doing it.Another theory says that singing (a song specifically) subconsciously reminds us of a past event in our life, that we associate with melancholy. That’s why we cry.So far, I haven’t found a legitimate scientific explanation, other from these three.Being a spiritual person myself, I tend to believe the two last theories more. What about you?
