Why Does The Yahoo Sports Section Keep Refreshing Every 1-2 Minuites

Is 30 minutes of exercise enough?

yeah sure it could be enough, it's whatever works. if you do high-intensity cardio for 20 minutes, you'd burn more calories than doing an hour and half of moderate yoga. so do what works for you. one thing i do is i vary my work outs, so maybe one day I'll go running for an hour (like 6 miles) and then the next day I'll do half an hour of cycling. so it doesn't have to be consistent as long as you're doing something 5 days a week. another tip is to try to squeeze in a longer workout on weekends or days off because, like you, I am a student with a ton of commitments and work, so just fit in the long ones when you have time

hope i helped :D good luck

Is it harmful to run twice a day for 30 minutes each time?

I have run over 22,000 miles in my life and disagree with most of these people; how many are runners I wonder?

When you run, you stress your muscles and they break down a bit. Overnight, they heal and get stronger. If you don't run hard enough, you don't increase your abilities but if you run too much, your muscles can't heal and you get tired and injured.

You'd do a lot better to check out some running schedules at http://www.runnersworld.com .

Your first thirty minutes running, you burn mostly sugars and carbos and very little fat. But once you get past 30 minutes, you burn more and more fat. So one longer workout will do more for you than two smaller ones. Also, you should take a couple of days off each week to let your body heal enough. Once you get an injury, you gain weight fast, so you want to hold back a little to prevent that risk.

I would recommend one long workout per week, two mediums and two short ones. As that one long run gets a little longer each week, it will be the one to change your metabolism and help you lose a lot of weight. When you get that run to 12 miles, you will see the weight go down for sure. When I was training for marathons, my body fat was about 8%, so it's worked for me.

For weight loss, exercise is about 1/3 of the battle; controlling what you eat is 2/3. When I was young, I ate as much as I wanted and never cared, but now that I'm older the body doesn't burn up energy like it used to.

Make sure you get new shoes every 300 miles; yes, keep track! Once the cushion under your heel is shot, the shoe is worthless and needs replacement. If you're going to run a lot, you need to know how to prevent injuries!

Is running/jogging a mile a day good excersice?

From my experience I got from 1 to 3 miles in maybe like a month? running every morning. I know when I started in January I was passing out after 1/2 a mile at a slow speed, but now I can comfortably run 4-5 miles every morning. I tend to alternate working on building speed and then distance.

The best tip I can give you is after you can't run anymore, continue to walk whatever distance you have left for your goal distance. It helps not only with endurance, but to teach your mind that this is how far you need to go.

Also, you will need to build muscle in your lower body. That's how you get faster. The best workout I've ever done that's helped me tremendously is ENVY Girls (yes, I know the concept seems like it's not a "real" workout). The leg DVD in the set has a lot of plyometrics..it WILL increase your performance. The butt one is also hardcore.

Good luck, running is a good kind of addiction :) (and remember to always stretch before and after!)

Are 2 hours of sleep worth it?

I would sleep! Researches have shown that even 5 minutes for sleep are enough to refresh you, and clear you mind! If you don't sleep, you are going to be in a great mess for the rest of day, unable to work and think about anything but your bed. Sleep for 1 and a half hours! :)

So every day now at volleyball practice...

Somebody ends up having to leave becuase of almost passing out, asthma attacks, etc.
Even girls who don't usually use inhalers are having trouble.

[I'm at volleyball in the morning and evening, I practically live in knee pads and am constantly running, sweating, hurting. fyi]

And every half hour or so somebody has to sit out and rest, and one of my coaches has to help them get back to normal.
We condition hard.
Our practices are six days a week for at least three hours, and it is HOT in our gym. No air, and we can't always open the doors.

Our head coach was telling us that on his son's soccer team, even kids without asthma started having to use inhalers becuase of the heat and excercise extremity.
Do you think this is a good idea?
Thoughts.

Is running 2 miles a day good enough?

Definitely! However, I ran 1-2 miles each day for 2 1/2 months and I didn't notice much weight loss other than 2 lbs, and my body wasn't getting shaped or toned. When I had to take a break from running in July (due to a running hip injury) and I wanted to keep in shape I decided to do some weight stuff. Within a few weeks, I was more shaped and toned and I was so happy with my body image! No more jiggly thighs! Yes! Haha and I went from 116 lbs to 107! Muscle burns calories just by being. The more muscle you have, the more calories you'll burn without even exercising! Anyway, I'm back into running and 2 miles is really good! You can't compare yourself to a marathon runner. But think of it like this: you're running 2 more miles than the people who aren't running at all! Keep up the good work!! :)

Do you breakout before or during your period?

I always breakout a little bit before my period, it's normal and lots of women go through the same thing. Don't be embarrassed, that's puberty for you! Wash your face every morning and night with cold water. A lot of acne creams and wipes can cause your skin to dry up, and some even take away the good oils from your face.
