Why Have Faith In Anything And Why Believe In Religion

Christians: Would you apply faith to anything besides religion?

"faith means believing something without considering the evidence/believing, without proof. Faith that can be changed is just belief. When I have faith in a thing, it cannot be proved or disproven necessarily. If it can be proven/disproven, it's not faith. I believe many things, but my only faith is in God." Once again, what makes religion different? If you wouldn't do it in everyday life, why do it for your religion?

Is being religious and/or having religious faith the "POLITE" thing to do?

Without disclosing my religion, I just want to know if poeple really do believe in something or if they just have a religion to call their own so that they are not looked at like an evil, rebellious person. I know that if I told my mother that religion is hogwash and that I believe in the science and facts that are before me, she would freak out. So my question is, do alot of todays worshipers worship just to be polite and keep the peace, or do they really believe in something greater? As for those that do not worship under a particular religion, why do you choose not to? Is it because you would rather spend your time living the life that is handed to you as opposed to guessing if there is something beyond this world and preparing for it?

Why do people like to believe in blind faith?

Insecurity and a needing to belong. Sad really!

What do you call someone who does not believe in religion?

I’ll assume you mean “someone who does not believe in God”.Two cases:You do not believe in God, but don’t say one can’t exist. Basically, you say “I don’t believe, but show me proof and I will”. You’re an agnostic atheist. This position is often assumed by rational thinkers such as mathematicians and physicists. You do not believe in God, and you affirm you know one doesn’t exist. “I know no God exists”. You’re a gnostic atheist. To add to that, you can also be antireligionist/antitheist: you don’t think religion has brought any good, on the contrary. To you, it has only brought a great many tragedies, and restricts people in their way of thinking.

Do you genuinely believe that religion will 'die out' completely?

I noticed an earlier question with a lot of people making reference to this.

So I'm curious, do you believe this? If so, what makes you think this? Is this some product of man's evolution? If so, in what other ways are people evolving?

Just a disclaimer: I should say (and if you know me from here, you know this) that I do not believe that religion will ever die out, and that to my eyes, if anything, humans appear to be de-volving.
