Why In Professional Soccer Players Are More Open

How hard is it to become a professional soccer player?

As long as you have heart and dedication, you're half way there. But the other half will be hard to manage. You will need lots of training, playing all the time throughout the year and improve in every weakness you have to make them one of your strength.

I did have a dream to become a pro soccer playing too like 5 yrs ago. I had the dedication and heart but I was missing out on being well coached. I only play HS soccer and during the off season I wasn't able to play travel or club soccer so I play a lot on my own and with friends at the park. I went on to play college soccer and it turned out genetic played a big part in my playing career. I was way too small to play with the big boys and my conditioning wasn't good enough. I trained as hard as my teammates but after every practice they get faster and their stamina improved while I was already at my limit.

For example.....friend Richard ran a 2 mile in 13:40. After two weeks of pre-season, he cut his time to 13:05. Next season he went to 11:50.
I ran a 2 mile in 13:15. After two weeks of pre-season, I cut my time to 13:13. Next season, my time was 13:13.

So while playing in games, I wasn't able to keep up with them anymore in after 15 minutes of running. I played center mid-field and my strength are my touch, vision, simplicity. Weakness- too small to challenge 50/50 balls and defending since I'm small. I was great in HS b/c size ddidn't matter that much since i was quick/fast. In college, everyone is just as fast or faster.

Is 20 too late to become a professional soccer player?

Most professional and National Team level players are in their mid to late twenties. Due to needing amateur status to play soccer in a College/University. (If you didn't know that, you might be in trouble) Scouting first starts with a semi professional team. You still pay to play (in some places) but you travel around the country and play other semi pro teams. Normally coaches start there to recruit for an MLS squad. The next step would be to attend an open tryout. (Again, if you didn't know about this step, you're in trouble.) Open tryout usually cost anywhere from 100-300USD (ouch says the wallet) and there is a slim to none chance that you will make the team in an open tryout. If you are exceptional, you might have a chance to make their reserve squad but that means: No play time, no not being on the roster, and slim hope that you will move on from that position. Take it from someone on the long hard road to NWSL (if you don't know what this is, neither does anyone else). Everything is rough when you are an outsider to the Elite and Academy Worlds. If you are not on a semi professional team: get on one. If you can't make that: keep finding them. If you have tried out for more than ten teams and still no luck, you have no chance of moving forward without improvement.

That is how American Soccer is done.

How do i become a professional soccer player in America?

After high demand on, "How to become a professional soccer player in America" i have decided to post ways you can become a pro.

Starters: It is already taken that you live soccer and have played it for at least 7-8 if not more so far. You should tryout for ODP and be on a competitive soccer team and attend many soccer camps.

Option 1: Junior College, so your not top college stuff yet. Play in JC and if your good enough you will be picked up by a top college in First Division.

Option 2: Amateur Teams, okay you don't have time for college check for your local team in the USL Premier Development League or NPSL. These teams hold tryouts every beginning of the season. Work your way up from here to MLS.

Option 3: Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, okay you want a direct shot at fame. Organize a team pay for entry and enter the cup. A number of amateur teams have won this competiton many times. You will be seen by scouts! Just make sure that you win and progress.

This is all due to space.

Do you have to go to college to play professional soccer?

No. Professional teams get thier players from several differen't places.
Some teams have academies where they bring up a bunch of players, train them, and give them schooling in which they hope to bring up a winning team. Other teams do get a fresh pick from collegiate level play. It better's your chances if you play for a college team. finally thiers open tryouts. Although it's rare, some teams have open tryouts in which if you are good enough, you might just make the reserve team. From there you must work your way up to a starting position (or just a playing one).

College soccer is probably the best way to play pro soccer. You are openly exposed to the media, other college coaches, and from there pro recruiting. I'd highly recommend that you go through college first, this allows you something to fall back on in case you get hurt from soccer, and this is where pro coaches get thier main choice of players from.

I'd like to add onto your question though if you don't mind and this is for anyone who can answer:
Say I go to play for a D3 college soccer team, do i still have a chance to make it pro?

Why do pro soccer players miss high when shooting for goals?

It's hard to keep the ball down when striking with power, even for the best pros.  It's the amazing kicks from Ronaldo that maintain a height of about 7 or 8 feet that set him and other superstars apart from the rest.  If the foot strikes the ball just a centimeter too low, it can make the difference between a perfect upper-V goal and a skyward rocket.

What are the best books on the true life of a professional soccer player?

Until The Last Drop by Federico Castillo and Horacio Varoli, I don’t know if it’s in English tho, but if it is it has to be a must read.It tells the story of Fabian O’Neill, probably the last true footballer in a world of profesional players.A rare talent, skillful yes, but mostly a mental genius with the ball, and according to Zidane himself, the most naturally gifted talent he ever played with. The lad had the right amount of cunning and skill and raunchy finesse, to pull off stuff that nobody else would even consider, not because they couldn’t but because it simply didn’t occur to them.If something can be said about him is that he was indeed a natural, he never once trained nor did he ever take care of his fitness or form. A drunkard and mighty unclean fellow prone to unpunctuality and disorderly misconduct, obesity, liver faliure, and a plethora of injuries, yet the guy would outsmart and beat players 10 times faster and stronger time and time again.A redefinition of the word professional to its most basic form: sallary. But, besides that, by and large, an amateur player of the 19th Century low life slums playing at the highest level of European football less than a decade away for the 21st Century football of global media. While not as eccentric as Elio Montaño or Jose Sasía, probably the most bizzarre players in history, he was no stranger to chaos to the point of being sort of like the Nietzche of football. While not entireley removed of the internal gossip of club football and the waywardness of presidents, managers, and players, through O’Neill perspective, the book focus mainly on his own experiences and it tells in blunt honest detail a handful of his missadventures both at his peak some of Europe’s most prestigious clubs and back at home in cheap grotty third rate brothels.“ Do you really want to know how I spent US$14m since my retirement? Well, that’s easy: quick women, slow horses and gambling. And presto, fortune is gone’’.Here’s more info about the guy:The Generous Genius

Is being a soccer player a good job?

you have to be really good if you want to make a living by playing soccer. If you are a great player, go to a college/university where they have a great soccer program and you play and do well then you might just be able to play soccer for a living. Playing a sport for work is great. You play a game and get paid to do it. However there is a ton of pressure and it may be very hard at first. Just remember that getting to the highest level is very unlikely and it would be much more safe to use your smarts to get you through life.
