How much does it cost to ship a 1 pound parcel to Hong Kong?

Depends on how you ship it. A seven pound business mail package sent next day costs about $60 and won't arrive for 5 days. USPS is cheaper than Fed Ex, UPS and DHL. DHL charged $120 for a box of contacts lanses. Claiming it's business mail gets you a cheaper rate.

Aside from possible US laws that may preclude this there is another reason why Bank of America and other US financial institutions may refuse to open an account for you.Blame Barack Obama and the democrat 111th Congress Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (acronym FATCA just because the obvious FATCAT was too obvious)This wonderful law was passed with the intent of preventing wealthy US citizens from avoiding US taxes by sheltering income outside the US. It requires financial institutions outside the US to provide financial data on all US citizens with accounts in foreign countries. You might ask how the US government can pass laws requiring institutions in foreign countries to do things. It cant. However, what it can do is make it difficult for those financial institutions to do business in the US and all foreign financial institutions require access to the US. So foreign institutions are effectively forced to comply. Of course, this raises the costs of those institutions so they are forced to pass those costs along to their customers - the vast majority of whom are not US citizens. So that pisses everyone off (US citizens working in those countries and the natives). So those countries turn around and say “Two can play this game” and they pass laws requiring US financial institutions to provide financial data all of their citizens with accounts or property in the US. For citizens of countries who have little financial power or are few in number the US institutions say “to hell with that, we’re not going to inconvenience ourselves for a few piddly foreigners” and they either close those accounts or refuse to open them in the first place. This is a 2-way street that was a completely short-sighted typical piece of crap legislation originating from a very cynical group of people who think a large fraction of the US population are inherently dishonest. As a consequence of this law, US citizens are frequently precluded from opening bank accounts overseas or have their US bank accounts closed when they move overseas (my institutions attempted this with me) and similarly, non-US nationals are frequently precluded from opening accounts in the US. Of course, who are the people that have no problem on either side? - the very wealthy.

Is it bad for a cash register to be 4 dollars over?

well . . you'd always be better off if it's higher instead of lower

How do you track your tribal Native American roots to get "registered" and acquire the benefits there of....

I answered this one on my main account, however, I thought about it and deleted my answer in disgust. Hence, I am under my spare account to answer this one.

I have helped people get on Tribal rolls... I happen to know much more than average non-Native individuals. I just recently gave advice that DID help someone achieve that goal.

I had given you the same advice in my answer.

However, I deleted it because I do not believe that you merit being on the Tribal rolls if you want it only for the benefits.

Furthermore, if you DO manage to get on the Tribal rolls, you are not going to be happy.

If you do, and they get wind of your reason for wanting it, they are going to make your life Hell and they are going to find ways to avoid giving you any benefits.

Have a nice day and learn what heritage and honor really mean.

Yes, you can use Yahoo and Hotmail.  You cannot use Gmail and you cannot use Chrome.  You can usually use Bing as a search enging by not Google.  You can also use Firefox.  However, if you have a VPN, you can access anything.  It is a cheap cost to circumvent the Chinese government's cowardice and stupidity...VPN is the only way to access everything.  However, you can access BBC and Yahoo News etc without one.  There is little rhyme or reason to the blockages.  But you can also use Chinese email services.  They can all be accessed by the Chinese government and often are.  This also applies to the mobile email apps.  Usually, when doing business with Chinese organisations, I use Yahoo for personal and Gmail for business.  Keeps them separate and does limit the access by the PRC.

Can I set up two different e-mail accounts? My son needs his own his own e-mail address. How do I do that?

you can create as many email accounts as you want. just go onto hotmail or msn or even yahoo and put your sons name in and his details. if he is under a certain age some websites ask for a parents email to verify it and things so you know what its for, but if your setting it up i guess that doesnt really matter!

I have been extensively using Baidu in China for last 5 months and to me it seems that you can’t create an account with Baidu Map without a Chinese mobile phone number. An interested reader may refer to the detailed posts:Baidu Map App (Ditu) - Online Road Trip Route Planner & China Travel Guide. How to buy a prepaid mobile SIM card and data plans in China?Hope it helps!
