Why is it wrong for a guy to hit a girl?
Because guys are bigger and they hit harder. There are lots of exceptions, but girls usually only slap or pull hair when fighting, and that's not going to do much damage. An average sized guy could knock out a girl by hitting her just one time. So a lot of people consider it "unfair." Also, women are seen as a mother figure. The way people think is, "Would you hit your mother?" No. So why hit any woman? That could be someone's mother. Still, if a woman is being b*tchy and really trying to hurt him, then she should expect to get hit. Anyone that doesn't expect a man to hit a woman under certain circumstances is being ridiculous. If someone was attacking you and hurting you, regardless of gender, wouldn't you defend yourself?
Why can't a guy hit a girl back?
Yes, I am a woman and I don't understand it either. Women are all about being equal, it's not equal if a girl can hit a guy and not get hit back "because she is a girl" or because "men hit harder". ****, if I were a man and a girl hit me, you bet your *** I'd hit her back. Women probably abuse that power, and it's just...stupid. It is unfair, it's a double standard, and if a woman hits a man first, she's just asking to be hit back by "acting like a man, and hitting". I don't understand it, and agree with you that it's unfair.
Why is it ok for a girl to hit a guy but not ok for a guy to hit a girl, even if she did deserve it?
Its just one of the double standards we have about gender roles. The problem is that feminists say they are promoting equality, but all they do is give women special legal rights in cases of domestic violence e.g. in India a man can be jailed for a year and fined if he even insults a female relative http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/asia/article614140.ece Naturally this law does not apply against women. How is this equality?
What is wrong with a man hitting a woman back?
Simply said, women are looked upon as being physically weaker than a male. So for a man to hit a woman is often seen as a weak man who can’t fight someone on his level, so fights someone he knows he will win against.That being said, it’s definitely frowned upon when a man strikes a woman.Now if you’re a guy and a woman is assaulting you, the proper thing to do is protect yourself defensively. Push her away or restrain her. Of course, if the woman assaulting you is physically trained, the playing field is a bit more even and I for one would say do what you need to do, but show restraint.But in either account, understand that there is a difference between assaulting someone and protecting yourself. Additionally understand that law enforcement can often look at the end result of a fight and can often tell who was the aggressor or who was doing the most attacking. If the guy is bruised and beaten, one can quickly assume the female was the aggressor, but if the female is bruised and beaten, one can assume the opposite. This doesn’t conclude who threw the first strike, but rather who likely remained the aggressor throughout the ordeal.
As men in today’s American society why is is wrong to hit a woman but okay to hit another man? (I do understand that assault is illegal no matter the gender, but in terms of social norms, why not just treat violence in general as a moral wrong?)
This will probably not be the greatest answer but I'll take a swing. It is no more wrong to hit a male (encompassing all ages) than it is to hit a female unless in self-defense. However, the traditional Western thought is that females shouldn't be hit because they're generally smaller and weaker than the average male. While true, this cannot be the only reason because if a female or male hits a smaller weaker male, no one really cares. In some cases, this behavior is not only accepted but promoted. Females are seen as empowered whenever they hit a male because it's seen as standing up to patriarchy and male oppression. But if a male hits a female even in self-defense, he's a “coward”, “weakling” and not a “real man”. Size and strength cannot be the only factor. It has been said that females are worth more than males due to reproduction. Plentiful sperm vs limited eggs and womb. Males seem to be instinctively counted as expendable due to this reason. You can find many interesting viewpoints on the reproduction angle all around the internet. It seems to be spot on. This is not exclusive to the US at all.

Why is a man considered a punk if he hits a woman?
I'm not saying that men should be able to hit women in fact no one should be able to do ANY hitting, but if a man hits a woman he's considered a punk and my uncles used to threaten my cousins "don't you ever hit a woman I'll half kill you if you hit a woman" and I just don't get why it is so wrong. I mean here's a prime example me and my boyfriend was play fighting and we were having fun and he kept giving me little sissy girl hits and I would be like "naw quit being a punk hit me" and he would like hesitate like "No man I can't do that I can't hit you it wouldn't feel right" and that's not just my boyfriend but every boy does that I mean if I'm tellin you to do it and as long as we're just playing it shouldn't really matter. This isn't one of those "don't tell me" questions but I want to know everyones opinions on this.

I think this is an excellent discussion. As a former Deputy, I went on more than a few calls regarding domestic violence, and many of the calls had the violence instigated by the female (very under-reported). There are several problems facing men looking to defend themselves against a woman. 1 – Generally speaking, men are stronger than women and can cause more damage per striking action. 2 – Males, overall, usually have been in more scrapes than females and have more experience in how to handle themselves in a confrontation (again – usually). 3 – Public perception. Regardless of why a man hits a woman, most will immediately assume the male is at fault. Of course, there are many other things to consider in any confrontation (weapons / condition of both parties / other potential dangers). But, if a man is being struck by a woman and does have a reasonable fear injury could be a result of being struck, he should (and does) have the right to defend himself to stop the threatening action. I teach my daughters to never hit another unless they are prepared to be hit back – regardless of the sex of the other person.
