Why is my hair so short in the front?
My hair is about 4 inches past my shoulders in the back, and in the front it is not even shoulder length. This makes it difficult to style my hair. I don't want to cut it. So what should I do??

Unless you are on are ill, on some type of medication that would cause stunted hair gowth or you have an extremely unhealthy diet your hair is growing. On average hair grows from 1/4 to 1/2 inch every month so growth is probably not the problem. The problem is length retention. Your hair is breaking at the ends just as fast if not faster than it is growing out of your scalp. Your ends are the oldest part of your hair so you have to baby them. If you don’t keep your hair moisturized,if you use too much heat or if you dont deep condition frequent enough your ends my suffer. You really just have to learn your hair and what works to keep it healthy. I would try and go on YouTube and find someone with similar hair as yours and take some tips from them. Spit ends can also be a big addition to hair breakage. Why is the back of my hair so much shorter than the rest of my hair.?
So this is a problem that I've had for about 3 years now. I don't know how it happened but I every time I went to the hair salon my hair stylist always asked me if I had cut the back of my hair. I have regular African American hair but I have never had a perm in my whole life, so it can't be because of that. All I do is flat iron my hair from time to time. Why is it such a different length, and what do you suggest that I use to try and grow my hair back out. What hair growth products have worked with you?
Why is my ponytail so short?
ok well heres the thing. i have medium length hair (ends at my bra hook) i have layers that are about a few centimeters off the longest hair. but when i tie it up it goes to about the start of my neck! some of my friends have shorter hair than me but longer ponytails! i really hate it and i haven't wore a ponytail in 2 years because of it! i just want to know why its happening and what i can do about it. thank you

Don’t feel too badly: The same thing happened to me when I was somewhere around 10 to 12 years old.I *hated* going to the barber. There was always a long boring wait, and then the process of getting my hair cut always seemed a bit scary, and I simply didn’t like the barber much anyway.So I’d always get a crew cut so I wouldn’t have to go again soon.Heh, one day the barber asked why I always got a crew cut.I made the mistake of telling him.He said, “Well, I can help with that! I’ll give you an “old country” crew cut.::sigh::After a heavy scissors trim he basically mowed the top of my head down to perhaps an eighth of an inch of fuzz with his barber clipper. When I got home and looked at myself in the mirror I felt like I was going to die. I played sick the next day so I wouldn’t have to go to school and (I was sure) be laughed at, but by the following day I had to do it.I remember wearing a hat all the way to school even though it was Springtime, and I remember unsuccessfully trying to keep my head partly covered with one or the other of my hands for the next few days at school. I was VERY traumatized.What I do NOT remember happening was anyone making fun of me! I don’t think anyone did. It was a fear all in my head, and my vision of what I looked like in the mirror wasn’t actually true.Soooo… don’t worry too much. I understand your dilema. I used to call my hair "the low frow" because it would hang but get puffy. Try Envia products for your hair. I found it a relief to finally find something that worked for my type of hair. By the way, my hair is growing down my back now.
Why do military/army personnel have short hair?
When we trained in Texas to prepare for VIET NAM during the 1960's, we were told that short hair will not hide any fleas, lice, ticks, spiders or other bugs that like to hide in hair.Soldiers in the field spend much time laying on the ground or in holes. So, crawling over wet ground or sleeping in the woods or jungle makes it easy for all kinds of critters like “chiggers", fleas, “no-see-ems,” lice and “crabs" to infest hair.Short hair is much easier maintenance even for soldiers who do not how to cut hair styles. WHY? …They just set the clippers for a short cut and … ZIP-ZOOM, anybody can cut hair this way.Plus, any cuts, scratches or wounds to the head are easy to see and to treat.(Our drill instructors never mentioned that short hair makes us look sexy.)
Why do hairdressers always cut your hair too short?
What you aren't realizing is that whenever you have hair cut off it "springs up" causing it to appear shorter. So I doubt very much it's that much shorter. Just appears that way due to having some cut off. That is why we tell people who complain of having no volume in their hair that we recommend going shorter. Also haircuts are shocking to the eye. Even only 3 inches seems like a whole head of hair when you first look at it. That is why whenever anyone comes in and asks to go from waist length to a chin length bob I always warn them about how short it will be. They always say okay but then they always complain about how short their hair is which doesn't make any sense because they're the ones who asked for it. Another thing you need to consider is the layering. Since you measured you own hair, no doubt about it you measured one of your layers instead of your length. Of course they will be shorter. But I can assure you that your length is much longer. I know you don't understand what that means but that is because that is something we are trained to know and do in beauty school. So you don't need to worry about what I mean by measuring the layers or measuring the length. Just have fun with your new look and try to style it cute and you'll love it before you know it. And I agree with Crying Lightning, it's just hair, it grows back. Chill out. Not like you lost a limb. I also agree with them because haircutting is not like building a house. When you're cutting lumber you have a straight solid surface to work with. Hair is different. You need to remember your hair is flowing all over with a gazillion strands and there is no way to cut it EXACTLY at the measurement you want. The only thing we can do is cut it as close as we can possibly get it. We won't tell you that in the salon though.
Publix wants me to cut my hair SO SHORT! I don't know what to do?!?
I have a pretty good shot at getting a job at Publix. My brother works there (he's in management). I've gone in so many times that the hiring manager practically knows me, and they know my name and everything there. But, the biggest problem is their goddamn hair policy! I've cut my hair short, but the manager there really wants it extremely short (cut above ears). And I look so ugly with hair that short. Last year, I used to have to keep my hair cut short, and I was realy teased about it a lot at school, because of how big my ears looked. I look really nerdy with short hair, its gross. Even my girlfriend who's seen pictures of me from before agrees that I look SO much better with the hair style I have now. I mean, my hair isn't even that long, it barely touches my neck and I do have bangs pushed to the side and hair that goes over my ears. I've gotten my hair cut some and a lot of people do think my current hairstyle is clean cut. I'm just so desperate for a job and I've been applying all over town for over a year and still haven't gotten at least one interview! I know I have a shot at publix, but I just can't get my hair cut so short again.... it was awful and I just can't live like that again... I need advice, because so I'm SO depressed about everything right now.
