Why Is My Ipad Not Playing Videos

Why doesn't YouTube play videos on my iPad?

You don't mention if you have the YouTube player app installed on your iPad, but the default behavior of YouTube videos on the web is to ask you to install the YouTube app on your iPad and not play in the browser. Further, some video content on YouTube is explicitly flagged not to play in some geographic areas, or on mobile devices -- you'll find it difficult to get around those limitations. If you do have the YouTube app, videos should play fine, though it's possibly there's a bug in the app that has it locked up. Kill the app and restart it (double-click the home button and scroll left to you find the YouTube app and then use your finger to slide the app off the top of the screen). There's one other possible issue - that you can't reach the YouTube content delivery network. If you are on someone-elses network (possibly at work, or at another business), they may intentionally block access to the video streams (for various reasons). There's little you can do about that.If you are at home, it's possible that your home router might be having an issue with it's routing tables and simply doesn't transfer data from the YouTube network. I know that there's a bug in the Actiontec routers provided by Verizon FiOS where something like that happens every 2-4 months. To fix that problem, one needs to reset the router; the easiest way being to unplug it, wait 20 seconds, and plug it back in.

How come videos won't play on Instagram?

Disable Power Saver option from your phone, if you have it enabled.Close Instagram and reopen it.Voila… All the videos should be playing now.Explanations and assumptions:a. I have assumed that you are using an Android phone, and have power saver option enabled.b. Depending on which phone you have, the name ‘power saver’ could be different.c. This is the easiest, and probably the only solution that worked for me consistently. The manufacturer of your phone could have employed a technique that might disable auto-play / auto-loading of videos. Or it could be a feature from Android’s power saver feature itself.d. This will also solve another issue - YouTube auto-play. If auto-play wouldn’t work properly, all you have to do is disable power saver mode. These sound ridiculous, yet that’s how things have been implemented.
