Why Is My Jack Russel Terrier/chihuahua Getting More Aggressive

Will my jack russell get along with my chihuahua?

I think they could get along. Just give the same amount of attention to both, so none get jealous.

In terms of introduction, carry them into a room, one person carrying each, sit on a couch or the floor with them on your lap, and let them sniff each other. Look at the tails. make sure they are high. If one of them has their tail under their legs, seperate, and repeat.

Good luck

and btw kevin... GO FU*K YOURSELF

Will neutering my 2 year old Chihuahua mix help curb his aggression?

There are many different schools of thought on this subject, though in my personal experience there has been some calming effects in the dogs who I have met after neuter surgeries where I was familiar with their behaviour before hand. It is also not uncommon in my experience to see two non neutered males go at it for territorial or reproductive reasons. These fights can include scraps over food, entertainment, precious items, prized sleeping areas, etc.

I would probably neuter both of your young men at the same time. They will have to be kept away from each other anyway even if you only do the chihuahua, so if you are considering getting them both fixed now would be the time. Even if your jack is not showing any aggressive behaviours, it wouldn't be a bad idea to get him fixed for his health and the pet population's health. : )

I am glad that you realize that fixing him, while helpful, is not a one stop solution to all of his learned behaviours as it takes a long time for many owners to realize. You sound like you're doing everything correct. On top of getting our friend the chihuahua neutered ( and hopefully jack too!) you could contact a trainer/behaviouralist to come and visit you in your home enviroment since thats where a lot of the trouble seems to be occuring.

I'd make sure that you make sure that the person is a behaviourlist as well as being a trainer so they can offer you solutions on both levels, since this obviously goes beyond your simple sit, stay, etc. You're definitely on the right track though, just a bit more! Good luck.

Jack Russel Terriers: Most Annoying Breed On Earth?

I had a JR and she was so good with kids and very trainable. Show her a trick once and then twice and she got it. Never had a dog like that in my life and I have had a few. Was a great watch dog. A man broke into our garage at 3 am. My JR (Molly) was under my blanket and she started to bark and got very nervous. I woke up looked out my bathroom window and saw a man standing in front of my garage. I ran downstairs opened the door let out Molly and the guy hopped the fence with a piece of his *** in her mouth. Now she has died and I have a Bic hon Frise. Which is a sweet dog for an apartment.

Are rat terriers breed from chihuahuas?

It’s probably more likely the other way around. The dog we call the Chihuahua has very little pre-Columbian ancestry, but a recent genome-wide comparison of dog breeds that created a phylogeny of dog breeds found that Chihuahuas and are related to rat terriers, toy fox terriers, and American hairless terriers. What likely happened was that the dogs from Mexico were heavily crossed with the local rat terriers and feists that were common all over the United States as they were taken out of Mexico. In this study, Chihuahuas were well-nested within the general terrier clade. In fact, so little of their ancestry is indigenous that it might be better to think of them as a form toy terrier rather than this native dog breed. My grandfather hunted squirrels with both rat terriers and feists. They barked when they smelled squirrels in the trees, and one day, he found a Chihuahua that had been abandoned by a traveling trick dog show. He found that this dog was just as easy to train to hunt squirrels as the rat terriers and feists.Feists or fyces are the rougher form of treeing terrier from which rat terriers were distilled into a breed. I have often confused feists for rat terriers and vice versa. They are from the same general terrier stock that came from the British Isles, but there was less emphasis on breeding for going to ground over here. Kill rats, yes, but they were required to work as biddable squirrel dogs, which means working closely with man, which is why rat terriers are so much easier to train than the typical Jack Russell. But we really shouldn’t be thinking of Chihuahuas as a truly Pre-Columbian breed. They have only traces of that blood, and they are very closely related to several American prick-eared terriers that likely swamped their gene pool as they came out of Mexico.

Chico-My Chihuahua/Rat terrier mix- is a grudge holder, what should I do?

You need to get your dog around people. When Chico starts to act aggressive, have the person move one step forward and say "sh sh" and offer a small treat.

Never say "it's okay, don't be mean" to a dog. They learn "it's okay" as it is okay to do anything!

Be persistent and use "sh sh" as a sound for correction with all bad behavior. Your puppy will be happier once he learns he can trust others.
They also read your body language. If you are sending a message to the dog that you are trying to protect it from harm, they will act on it and become aggressive towards others.

Take a breath and stay calm around others when they approach your dog.

Dogs are like kids, they need boundaries and roles. Teach him his role, which is to be a friend, and he will be fine.

Is saying Chihuahua's are more agressive than Pitbulls (in defence of Pitbulls) the equivalent of saying a Crazy Ant is more aggressive than an elephant (ie A pet elephant only needs to get angry once)?

Sadly, the biggest problem with small dogs is that people don’t bother to take them seriously. By that, I mean:Small dogs often don’t get basic obedience training, which means you don’t have a way to defuse an over-excited dog through force of habit (if you’ve got an obedience trained dog that has a good, solid sit-stay… you can stop them from jumping up at someone by asking for that sit-stay even if you can’t lay your hands on them). And a dog that doesn’t know basic commands is always going to be less controllable than a dog that’s properly trained as a canine good citizen.Small dogs are often taught that they have no “body autonomy” - they’re picked up and hoicked around like stuffed toys, and they often learn that the only way they can express preferences is to actively *bite* people who are treating them that way.People don’t pay attention to small-dog body language like they would with a bigger dog, because a snarling Dobermann is much more able to reinforce “I don’t want that” than a snarling Dachshund - people may call the snarling dachsie “cute” instead of treating the behaviour like the “don’t do that, I don’t like it” that it is. So those people are automatically putting themselves at greater risk, because they’re being ignorant of “small dogs are still dogs, they just happen to be in small bodies.”And, of course, although a parent might teach their kids to respect a LARGE dog… they may not be as diligent about teaching their kids to respect smaller dogs in exactly the same way. That puts people at a greater risk of being bitten badly by a poorly trained small dog - and unfortunately the people those small dogs are most able to reach will be smaller children.A pit bull or Dobermann or golden retriever that means to bite will certainly do more damage than a pomeranian or chihuahua or Jack Russell that means it - but people do tend to treat larger breeds and bully breeds with more respect overall, training is more likely to happen, and if the big fella snarls, they aren’t likely to ignore it in the same way…

Which dog makes a better pet - chihuahua, Chinese crested, toy poodle, bichon frise, daschund, jack russell, terrier or maltese?

Which dessert is best - chocolate cake, blueberry pie or vanilla ice cream? The answers to your question and mine are the same … it varies from one individual to the next.Someone I love dearly has had several Bichon Frises and they are the perfect dog for her: equally happy camping, walking on leash or vegging out on the couch. I like her dogs - they are cute as a button! - but I would never get one for myself. To me, the breed lacks initiative and drive, two of the things I value in my Sheltie and Tervuren. Likewise, I imagine my dogs would make her crazy. They’re so handler-focused I can’t use the bathroom without them and they only fully relax when they are exhausted. So, take time to think what traits and characteristics you would like in your dog. Chat with someone who knows all about dogs. In the U.S., the AKC provides tons of good information on its website and in books. And, don’t overlook mixed breeds. They can have the very best traits of all breeds in their DNA, and they can be just as adorable! And, my question above is a sneaky trap because the best dessert is lemon meringue cheesecake of course!

Can Jack Russell and border terrier get a long with each other?

Terriers are often aggressive with other dogs. Same-sex aggression and aggression towards other breeds of dogs is well documented with JR terrier. It is strongly recommended that no more than two terriers (of opposite sex only) ever be permitted to stay together unattended. Source: Jack Russell Terrier JRTCA: Jack Talk

Why do people believe that internet activism will change other people's minds?

So, have you ever heard of the Arab Spring?Arab SpringYour past experience is false.During a discussion, individuals will almost never admit when they are wrong- their egos prevent that. But, after a while, they do change their minds.I have been in discussions with people on various topics, including LGBT rights, and after discussions are over and I happen along an old thread, I sometimes check that person's current posting history. In most cases, they are no longer saying the same stupid things they were saying before. They might still be against LGBT equality, but they are not saying "being gay is a choice", "gays recruit", "the gay lifestyle" or other such nonsense. And more importantly- other people reading the discussion change their minds.Look at how fast public opinion on LGBT rights changed in just a few years, compared to racial equality or women's rights which took decades. This is partially due to standing on their shoulders, since most of the arguments are exactly the same, but a BIG component is the Internet, because more people are exposed to these discussions than ever before.

Cats VS Dogs: If a big wildcat (Wildcat) and a Jack Russel Terrier (Jack Russell Terrier) of the same weight and experience were to fight to death, who would win the fight?

Think of it like this: If you put a large American black bear and an African lion in a cage, who do you think would win? Their sizes are comparable (lets say 500 pounds each), and they have similar weaponry (teeth and claws). You’d probably pick the lion, wouldn't you. Cats are designed killing machines. A dog can kill, but cats are just better, well-rounded killers. They’re faster, more agile, and are just designed for killing. Moreover, cats are primarily solitary animals, so they have evolved to defend themselves. Wild dogs and wolves have evolved as pack hunters, so they don’t have to be as well equipped killers in order to take down prey much larger than themselves, because numbers will make up for their detractors. A lone tiger can take down water buffalo much larger than itself, but a lone wolf would not stand a chance against an American bison, see what I mean? Cats have evolved to be efficient killing machines. It’s just innate. Cat FTW.
