Why Is There A Significant Indian Population In England

How did the Indian population become so large?

Many factors are responsible for very high population in India.Cultural reasonsMarriage is compulsoryIt is difficult to stay unmarried in India. Everyone would constantly discover all silly reasons to get you married.Hinduism even considers marriage as sacred and indissoluble.Early MarriageChild marriages are still prevalent in India. Even the legal age is very low. Generally girls would be married off after their schooling or graduation and guys would be married after getting a decent job. Most of the people get married between 20 and 30, when their fertility is at it’s peak.Preference for male childDue to religious and other cultural practices, parents prefer male child to female child. Hence, many couples give birth to many children till they get male child.2. IgnoranceLack of awareness about contraceptivesPeople in remote and rural areas are least aware of contraceptives. It’s penetration is very low. People also feel shy to talk about and use contraceptives. Talking about sex is a taboo and parents are even opposed to introduction of sex education in schools. Children are considered as god’s gift and biology behind it is neglected.3. Poverty and Child labourMore number of children means more number of hands to earn. Poor people consider their children as their asset. In order to support the family financially, poor people usually have many children.4. Geographical FactorsGeography of a region plays a vital role in determining the distribution of population. The density of population is directly proportional to the amount of resources available. Regions with extreme climatic conditions such as cold and hot deserts have very low population. Similarly, the availability of all other essential resources also determines population of a place.India lies in moderate climatic region with abundance of natural resources. This naturally favours very high population.5. Decline in MMR and IMRMaternal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate have been declining continuously because of improvements in the efficiency of health sector. This has decreased the overall death rate. But the birth rate still remains higher than death rate. India has not yet attained the replacement rate ( Death rate = Birth rate ).6. Total Fertility Rate(TFR)Due to early and compulsory marriages, preference to male child and ignorance, the fertility rate of Indian women remains higher than in western countries.

What was the english-indian relations all about in 1600-1700?

I was going to answer, but then refrained as I see this is for a US History Class. Do you, therefore, mean the relationship between England and the Indian sub-continent or English settlers in 17th century North America and the indigenous population?

Why did the americans take indian land?

Manifest destiny. The colonists felt that God wanted them to take over. As arrogant as that is, many of them truly believed it. So that is just another example of people using God to murder and plunder.

What is India's native language? Is it English?

English is a language that many people speak in India and it is taught in school but it most certainly is not the "native" language: India used to be a British colony up until 1947 so yeah... But not everyone in India speaks English, some people still don't. English is in the top two national languages and most well educated people speak it.

India's other national language is Hindi but in the southern part of India, some people don't even speak that! That is because every state in India has their own language. But for the most part, Hindi is a language that can be understood in many parts of India. My parents who are from the state of Gujarat use Hindi with Indians who can not speak Gujarati because Hindi is a language that carries over throughout most of the states. Most Indians are multilingual because they often understand their state language, Hindi, and (sometimes) English.

Most Indians learn English at school, the same way Americans students take a foreign language. There are even some schools called English-primary schools. In these schools, the only language used is English and students are not allowed to use the state language or Hindi.

Sanskrit is an ancient language and is not normally used in day-to-day conversations. Some people study Sanskrit; it is the liturgical language of Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism. Think of its usage in India similiar to the usage of Latin. Many state languages in India may be derived from Sanskrit.

How did the French and Indian War change the relationship between Britain and its colonies in America?

Okay so I wrote my DBQ for this question and didn't do a very good job...I got a 4. My teacher says I focused too much on independence. I didn't talk about the whole salutary neglect and mercantilism thing, or the colonies' conflict with the French because I didn't quite get it. Can anyone explain that part to me? Thanks so much!!

Should the world population be capped?

During the medieval era the population of England and Wales was about 10-12 million now its closer to 54 million. in 1800 America had roughly 5.3 million people (although i do not think this figure includes native americans) now its closer to 315.5 million, France, japan, Africa, china and india are also great examples of population boom.

The world is vastly overpopulated, crop manipulation/modification, fertilizers, better medical treatment old age and land clearance have made this possible. but this does not mean it is healthy for us as a species or at all for the planet. I believe that the population of mankind should be reduced to about the figure it was between 1000-1300 and kept at that with each person only being allowed one child ie. every couple only has two children. i think this is particularly important to enforce in poorer countries because they generally have higher numbers of children and i think it is even more important for religious institutions like Islam and Catholicism to support a Global law that limits to number of children to two per couple. otherwise we could literally populate ourselves to death.

Does anyone agree of disagree with this?
