Why Was The Movie Cat People Rated R

What was your first R-rated movie? How old were you when you saw it and would you let your kids see it at the same age?

My parents took me to a drive-in theater when I was 3 to see The Exorcist. I think they expected me to fall asleep in the back seat of our station wagon, but I apparently was having none of that. I don’t recall the experience exactly, but my parents told the story for years about how I giggled my way through the whole movie, and especially seemed to enjoy the part when her head spun around like an owl and she mooed like a cow. It was said that I mooed similarly for days afterwards.I believe that experience led my mother to think it was just fine and dandy then to take me to see Poltergeist in a movie theater in 1982 when I was 8. That movie only got a PG rating, but the scene where the guy tore his face off traumatized me for life. I spent the rest of the movie sitting alone in the lobby waiting for my mom to come out. And I’ve never been able to watch that movie again, though the remake didn’t bother me a bit.And I renewed my love of horror films less than 3 years later at age 11 with A Nightmare on Elm Street. My parents never had any issue with allowing me to see movies according to ratings. I think the only movie either of my parents ever complained about was my dad with Purple Rain. But that was because of the language in it more than anything else. But yeah. Three years old with The Exorcist. And all I did was laugh.

How do i get into a rated R movie underage?

Well im 14, and ive gotten into movies underage before. but this time me and my friend are going to a different movie theater. i was just thinking get my mom to but tickets and we go in and if the people(the ones who take the tickets and tell you which theater to go into) ask where our parents are we just say there getting popcorn and told us to head on in. Is that i good plan? or what should we do?

What is your review of Cat People (1942 movie)?

★★★★I recently got to see this classic at the new Metrograph theater here in NYC.  They showed a 35mm print, and this was one film I had never seen before.  I love the 80's remake of it, and sometimes originals from this era can't hold up to the special effects of the later versions.  Although this was definitely lacking in special effects, it was not lacking in story, feeling, mood, and cinematography.  The movie looked beautiful, and it was interesting to watch a movie that was remade into one of my favorite films.  I was surprised to see a couple scenes from this film were more or less copied for the later version, so many times remakes are more like new movies than actual remakes.  It was also nice to see the 1940's portrayed on film, but not in the normal way, this was definitely a darker more ominous 1940's than I have seen before.  The film is short, and the acting, though good, was of that particular era, so it was a bit tame in some ways and of course they did not get too sexual at all with the movie.  There are some nice scenes with the slightly pervy psychiatrist.  This is definitely a film that everyone should see, it shows where so many of the scary movie stereotypes come from! This gets a 4 out of 5, or 8 out of 10 from me.

How old do you have to be to bring a minor to a rated R movie?

as long as the person who buys the tickets is over the age of 17 the other people ages do not matter.

I know when Godzilla came out in 1998, it is rated PG-13, there was a lady who brought a 3 year old and a new born baby to see the movie.

Not that long ago I went to see a Rated R movie, and someone brought 3 kids, that all looked to be under the age of 4. One was in a baby seat...

I guess since the "adult" bought the tickets the theatre does not care

added:
According to Fandago:
"Age Policy
Child tickets are valid for children 11 years and younger. Senior tickets are valid for adults 62 years and older. Student tickets require a valid student ID to be presented at the box office and/or entrance to theater auditorium. Not all ticket types are available at all theatres or for all performances.

No Children Under Age 6 Will Be Admitted To Any R-Rated Feature After 6:00 PM. Valid IDs will be required to attend Rated "R" movies. You must be at least 17 years of age or have your parent accompany you to view the movie. IDs will be checked at the theater. "

So since your friend is 17 she can purchase her own ticket as long as she has a vaild ID with her birthdate on it

Why is kung Fu Hustle Rated R?

There is no gore. I am not sure why it is rated R. Why was Titanic given a PG-13 rating and yet, the main actress was topless, posing nude as Leonardo DiCaprio sketched her image on paper? There is a scene where a guy gets beheaded and a cat gets sliced up, but all you see is their shadows on a wall. You see the shadow of the cat and the man getting cut up. There is no blood splattering. I don't remember the cuss words. It is Chinese and there are English subtitles at the bottom.

If you like these kind of movies, check out Iron Monkey. It is Chinese and it has action and humor, but no gory violence.

What would R-rated Disney movies look like?

R-rated Disney movies would look like Pretty Woman (1990), Good Morning, Vietnam (1987), Cocktail (1988), The Color of Money (1986), Ruthless People (1986) — all of which were R-rated films produced by Disney under its Touchstone Pictures label.
