Why Wont My 2000 Taurus Crank

2004 Ford Taurus SES won't start?

It's doubtful it's the injectors. They rarely go bad and when they do it's usually only one of them and that'll only make it run rough but it will still run. It's probably a clogged fuel filter or the fuel pump has died which is very common on cars over 100k miles. It could be a fuel pressure regulator but that would be last on the list of suspects. If it's not a fuel problem then it's an ignition or timing problem. You may have a bad coil pack(s) but since you just replaced them I would doubt it unless you improperly installed them and they came loose or something. A bad ignition module is a likely suspect but usually when they go they don't work at all or they may work normally sometimes and other times not at all. Your timing belt may be broken or may have stretched and skipped a tooth or 2.
The fuel pump and/or filter would be my first guess. Do you hear the pump priming when you turn the key to ignition? If not you have a bad fuel pump, pump relay, or pump inertia switch.

Why won't my ford taurus stay running?

Most likely the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve is stuck closed. If you know what it looks like and where it's located you can hold foot on accel pedal to let engine warm up a little bit. Tap gently (plastic intake) on valve, If car idles replace IAC. Sometimes just warming up engine the heat will soften the crud in the valve and it will start working. Do not clean valve, the valve has plastic guts inside it.

What do you use to clean a crank or cam sensor?

I will be testing them, so please don't say "just replace them"...I just want to know what people have used themselves. I have carb cleaner but would brake cleaner or maf sensor cleaner be a better idea, what have you guys used? And does anyone know where the crank&cam sensors are located on a 2000 Taurus?? Or what is a good site for engine diagrams and such. Thanks in advance...

How do I replace the serpentine belt of my 2001 Ford Taurus?

1) Loosen the tensioner (Loosen the bolt at the center of the tensioner). Remember the angle of your start and the end (when you use wrench to loosen the bolt) to make a rough judgement of the tension you need to put on your belt while tightening.2) Remove either side of the belt on and then replace it. Use the diagram to route it. 3) Tighten the tensioner.

How do you manually roll up a window on a ford taurus?

If the power window has failed you have few options.

If it is the control switch on the door panel you can remove the door panel. Unplug the power connector to the power window motor. Use a 12 volt power source to hot-wire the power window motor to close it.

If the power window motor has failed you could remove the door panel. Remove the power window motor. Lift the door class. You would also need to devise a way to hold the door glass in place.

Your only other option is to bring the car to a mechanic and have the power window repaired.

Where is the starter located in a 2000 ford taurus?

You do need to lift the car to get to the starter. Its next to the transmission - its round and looks like a big bullet or missile.

Why won't my car start after fixing a broken serpentine belt?

Ok so first question is the starter rotating the motor like it should and it just wont start or are you turning the key without getting any results. If its not turning over id first off hit the starter solenoid with a soft hammer a few good raps may dislodge a stuck solenoid. Now if the motor is spinning but not firing up my first place id look is the distributor wiring unless it runs coil packs then i would guess that you knocked the wires off the crank sensor or maybe even broke the crank sensor. I am at a disability here not knowing what the vehicle make is., if it died while driving because belt fell off and you ran on battery till it ran out of power. ( a jump start is the ticket in that case ) Honestly im going with the crank sensor or crankshaft position sensor.being the root of your problem because if the belt broke it could easily take out the sensor as belt flew around the front of the motor. But check all your connections and research the crank sensor ..its usually a cheap and easy part to replace if its in a area where belt passes by it that makes sense as to your problem. Ok let me know a bit more info if possible. Dont give up the answer will come

The steering wheel is not locked, but the key won't turn. What could be the issue?

Only one of two issues assuming the correct key is being used. Either the lock is defective i.e. wafer (tumbler) out of place, or transmission shift interlock cable not fully in Park. On occasion I have run into both situations.Correction for the lock is to have a locksmith come out and inspect the lock. There have been times that the ignition lock has to be drilled out and replaced. As for the interlock cable, physically make sure the transmission shit lever is truly in Park. Adjusting the lever might surprise you because now the lock will turn with the key.
