Wife Beating In Islam Conditons

What are the rules and limitations of wife beating in Islam?

Here is the verse of the Quran that mentions this issue..Surah An-Nisa [4:34]“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has made one of them to excel the other, and because they spend (to support them) from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient (to Allah and to their husbands), and guard in the husband's absence what Allah orders them to guard (e.g. their chastity, their husband's property, etc.). As to those women on whose part you see ill-conduct, admonish them (first), (next), refuse to share their beds, (and last) beat them (lightly, if it is useful), but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means (of annoyance). Surely, Allah is Ever Most High, Most Great.”-Muhsin Khan’s translation. This is one of the most misunderstood verses in the Quran. Here is an explanation by Nouman Ali Khan that i chose to accept.

Do you have any conditions from your wife/husband?

Marriage itself comes with conditions. Loyalty, honesty, etc. If you mean outside the normal conditions... We know each other's passwords. If the other is going out, we tell where. Nothing major.

Does the Quran allow wife-beating?

See here.

“Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has given the one more [strength] than the other, and because they support them from their means. Therefore the righteous women are devoutly obedient, and guard in [the husband’s] absence what Allah would have them guard. As to those women on whose part ye fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them [first], [next] refuse to share their beds, [and last] chastise them; but if they return to obedience, seek not against them means [of annoyance]: for Allah is Most High, Great [above you all].”

Is it true that wife beating in Islam is “symbolic” and not actually done? If so, where is the Hadith reference?

The verse 4:34, which allows a man to ‘strike’ his wife in case of stubborn disobedience, has been wildly misrepresented by opponents of Islam and even some Muslim men. It is often wrongly translated as ‘beating.’ In fact, the ‘striking’ in the verse is a symbolic gesture meant as a last resort, before divorce, for husbands whose wives refuse to stop violating the terms of their marriage contract. There are very strict legal restrictions on how a man may discipline his wife. Interpreted in its complete context, the verse is actually a prohibition on domestic violence. It is not permissible in Islam for a man to deliberately harm his wife physically or emotionally.Allah said:وَلَا تُضَارُّوهُنَّ لِتُضَيِّقُوا عَلَيْهِنَّDo not harm them in order to make it difficult for them.Surah al-Talaq 65:6‘Ubayda ibn al-Samit reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:لاَ ضَرَرَ وَلاَ ضِرَارَDo not cause harm or return harm.Source: Sunan Ibn Mājah 2340, Grade: SahihAl-Suyuti writes:من الحقوق بِٱلْمَعْرُوفِ شرعاً من حسن العشرة وترك لإضرار ونحو ذلكAmong their rights to good conduct is what is legislated of good living conditions, avoiding harm, and so on.Source: Tafsīr al-Jalalayn 2:228All scholars unanimously agree that the striking mentioned in the verse is “without severity” (ghayru mubarriḥ) or “without pain” (ghayru mu’allim). It is only in the case when a wife habitually violates her marriage contract and after other means have been taken but failed to correct her behavior. It illegal in Islam for a husband to cause bruises, injuries, or any harm whatsoever to wife.Does the Quran allow men to beat their wives?

Allah himself gave humans free will ...use it !!!

Why do i beat my wife?

Every day. As soon as I come home I beat her. She cries a lot but I really don't care. Because I think its funny. She tells me not to for at least once, but I can't resist. I she gets hit marks and that bothers her because I tell my friends at work and we all joke around about it. She leaves but comes back, and as soon as she does I start beating her again. Some times I tell her if she doesn't want me to keep on beating her, to not play shooting games. But she loves call of duty alot . Help.
