I need help hooking up my D-LINK G wireless router?
ok so: 1) Find out the IP the comcast modem is using. You can find that by going to My Computer>Network Connections. click on your active connection and the "router" is the IP of the modem. Type that address into any web browser of your choice. Make sure DHCP is enabled. See what IP scheme its using for DHCP. NOTE you will need that later. 2) Hold the reset button on the wireless router for 10-15 seconds, while its on, that will erase any configuration your wireless router might have. In the book for your D-Link router it should give you the default IP so you can use that to configure it. In any web browser of your choice type that IP. NOTE remove any http:// that may appear. Make sure Bridge mode is "ON" that means that your Comcast modem is handling all DHCP Services. ** NOTE ** If the IP address is in the same scheme as the Comcast router that is why you will get blocked. The Comcast router and DLink have to be on 2 different subnets, i.e Comcast is 192.168.1.254 the Dlink cant be 192.168.1.anything. So change the DLink to 192.168.2.1 or 10.1.1.1 or any way you want but make sure to right it down it has to be 4 sets 3 number combination separated by ".". Ranging from 0-254, 255 is for broadcasting and you cannot use it or any number higher. Last but not least wireless security, Check Sony's website to see what type of security your PSP can handle. If it cannot use encrypted passwords you will have to leave your wireless network "OPEN" ** NOTE ** not good because any one crusin by can jump on you network. Hope this Helped!
