Will Aquaphor Speed Up Healing Of Cuts

Which will heal faster, a cut which is covered or uncovered?

As mentioned by Charles Bollmann, a covered cut will heal faster than one left uncovered.  Studies in pigs and humans have shown that occlusive (or covered) wounds healed more quickly than ones that were left to dry out. Also, covered wounds tended to heal with less pain, tenderness, swelling and scarring. (see Experiences with biosynthetic dressings. and Dry, moist, and wet skin wound repair.)Some thoughts why this is true are that it easier for skin cells to move in a moist environment created by the dressing. Another is that the wound is exposed to its own fluid, which has factors in it that promote healing.(see Accelerated healing of full-thickness sk... [Plast Reconstr Surg. 2000]).

Would putting neosporin on my c section cut make it heal faster?

depends on how long ago you got your "cut";; if you still have stitches/staples/adhesive, you shouldn't be putting anything on it that the doctor has not instructed you to put on it;; another good bet to avoid infection is to leave it completely alone until all the scabbing is gone (even the white little "flecks" ya get sometimes);; when you're allowed to shower, you should not touch anything to it;; just wash the rest of you like you normally do & leave that area alone;; the water & soap you wash the rest of you with will wash the body oils off you;; dry everything else but that area, let it air-dry;; keep FINGERS AWAY from the incision (too many germs)!!! use mirrors if you have to see it, avoid picking the belly up to look @ it;;
when it is finally healed (no scabbing), you can start to press your finger pads on the beginning of the incision, & pick your pads back up, place in the position next to the part you just left & repeat until you are finished going along the incision line;; when your area gets used to this you can gently knead in small motions rather than just press;; this will help you get rid of the bubbles & rope-like texture, but again, that's after it's healed;; usually about 2-6 wks if everything goes well;;
you can also start on mild crunches but not for a few wks after surgery.. good luck;; if in doubt call your doc...
neosporin is really not gonna make a difference; but i KNOW the above instructs will.. again, good luck, & CONGRATS!!!
(you never want the incision to get too wet or too dry, both can cause complications!!! & signs of infection is reddish orange color spreading in & away from anywhere on incision line; poss swelling, poss drainage, if any of these, call your surgeon)

Aquaphor or lubriderm for my new healing tattoo?

just got my first tattoo, my artist told me to use a&d for the first 4 days, then lubriderm after that. but a lot of friends tell me aquaphor is better, and they have many tattoos. so which will help my tat heal best??

I cut... I need help to learn how and to get rid of the scabs by Christmas, Please, help?

Yeah, I cut, blah blah blah, I'm depressed. That's not the point. I'm going to have to dress up for Christmas, ugh, and since I cut two days ago, there are newer scabs up and down my left inner arm / wrist. Please help me get rid of the scabs and at least turn them into scars? Thank you. And, I don't need a lecture to stop cutting, I cut myself because I lost control and did't know what to do, and it's been a while since I have. So, how can I quickly get rid of scabs?

Isn’t A&D ointment good for new tattoos, and will it really make them fade?

Unfortunately, there isn’t a universal aftercare regimen like there is for piercings. Because of the vast differences in skin types, pigments, application techniques and climates, aftercare will vary differently from person to person. There is no “this works 100% of the time” method.I, personally, recommend my clients stay away from all petroleum based ointments to heal their tattoos. A&D is definitely one of those products I don’t recommend at all.To understand why, you need to understand how the body heals. Wounds close from the surface downward. This is how debris and germs can get trapped in a tattoo. By using an ointment, you’re cutting off air to promote healing below the surface. It will take longer to heal than it should.I’ve also found that many people are scared of truly washing their new tattoos as if it will wash away. It won’t. Not if it was applied properly. By not washing thoroughly, any traces of ointment left behind can act as a breeding ground for problems. Not to mention, the tattooed are and the freshly shaved skin around it can get filled with ointment in the pores and break out a few days later as the hair wants to grow back and is unable. Ingrown hair breakout. Not fun.The tattoo community is slowly beginning to see that ointments aren’t the way to go. We’re slowly moving towards balms and other, more natural, options. Even ointment during the tattoo procedure can cause problems. (Don’t freak out if your Tattooer uses it. Just because it can cause problems doesn’t mean it will.) We’re slow to accept change, but some are starting to see the light.

Recommendations on healing tattoos faster?

for all tattoos this is the fast way to get them healed, cheapest and least messy way. i have used everything on my tats, colored and not... wash tat with dial within 2 hours of gettin it done. everyday after the first, wash 1x daily with dial, pat dry, apply lotion, white lotion, unscented. I like aveeno. when you use ointments, you prolong the healing process which no one wants. they baby the tat, keep em wet, and they gotta be dryer then that to heal fast. follow this method of after care and Im sure that the next tat you get will be the fastest healing tat youve gotten, and it will still look just as good, of not better then all the rest.

I picked small blackheads around my lips so much, now they are super swollen and red. It looks like a scab is forming. How can I make it heal fast?

First, wash your hands and under your fingernails with antibacterial soap, then (as long as you're not allergic) take a clean cotton ball moistened with hydrogen peroxide and thoroughly clean the entire area. Gently dab at the area, do not rub.If you have access to a pharmacy such as Walgreens, CVS, or even Wal-Mart, go in and head down the aisle where they keep all the lotion. Find a product made by Eucerin called Aquaphor. It's a topical protectant, healing agent, and moisturizer with the consistency of petroleum jelly and the healing abilities of bacitracin ointment. Purchase a small tube because it lasts forever, and simply use clean fingers to apply a few little swipes to the affected area three times daily.As long as you don't continue picking at it and keep it clean, the Aquaphor should have it healed back up in 2-3 days.
