Will Dying Dark Brown Hair Light Brown Not Make It Lighter

How can I dye my dark brown hair lighter?

WELL natural pigment in the hair has RED. You can't avoid the red but you can process passed it. Heres some options.

If you have not colored your hair ever then you can pick a shade of lighter brown color and your hair WILL lift to the desired look. If you colored your hair years ago and havent cut it or its grown out it still will make it uneven. SO this is only if you are completely natural. Otherwise it will only get lighter where its natural and the parts thats colored will stay exactly the same!! Color does not lift color!

Bleach wash or full on bleach. A "bleach wash" is shampoo, 10 volume developer, and bleach mixed together. You cover your hair from roots to ends and slowly wait till it gradually lifts. This is a slower process then straight bleach but better for your hair. It wont be as fired as straight bleach will be. Its important you pay attention to the stages of lift your hair is progressing to. In order to get brown without red you must pass the red stage. So you see your hair looks red then leave it on longer. Brunettes is very hard not to have any red because its such a dominent pigment. Once you are passed the red...im talking looking blond then you rinse. And then you place the desired brown color you wish to have all over your hair from roots to ends.

If there is a beauty supply store around you ask which bleach is best for your hair. YOu wont find bleach at the grocery store. And i really dont recommend the market box colors because that has a large amount of amonia which is damaging to your hair. At beauty supply stores they sell color and have example hair on there.

THis is a huge undertaking. Id be more then helpful to assist you further if you'd like to email you. And one on one questions you might have. I am a stylist and my best friend is always emailing me for hair help. So i dont mind at all. I hope this helped somewhat.

Help!! how do i dye my dark brown hair light brown?

dye your hair a light shade of blond. Each time you dye it, it will get lighter. People say that this doesn't work, but I've done it. It will take a while this way but it's allot safer than using bleach or peroxide

Will dying dyed dark brown hair blonde turn it lighter?

I recently dyed my hair darker brown than my naturally dark brown hair, but it turned black! I've used all the ricks of the trade to get it a bit lighter and now it's dark dark brown, but I'd really like it lighter. Will dying it with blonde hair dye make a difference? Or will it just go ginger :|?

Thankssss :) x

Dyed hair too dark brown. Can I dye it again with a lighter color to fix it? Please help!!?

Using a lighter color dye won't work because OTC color product will not lighten or remove color. There are some professional color products that will lighten it or professional bleach but you would need this done in a salon. We learned a pretty neat trick in cosmetology school that may help. Try shampooing your hair with Tide. It is supposed to work to loosen up perms that end up too curly also. Good luck.
P.S. The safest way to aquire the best results is to have corrective coloring done by a professional.

I naturally have slightly dark brown hair. can I dye my hair blue?

Yuppers. Im not a professional but mine is dark brown and I've dyed my hair blue several times. First you have to lighten your hair enough for the blue to show (which would mean getting your hair bleached). If you don't want to spend the money on getting your hair professionally bleached then you do what I do and use either one of these:You can get these at Walmart or Shoppers Drugmart, and possibly other places. If you have really long thick hair (like down-to-your-elbows long) then you might need two boxes. Make sure to follow all the instructions in the box very carefully. If your hair is a reaally orange color, you might need to bleach again (make sure to wait at least 1 month before bleaching again). But if your hair is a lighter brassy color like this:You can still put blue dye in it. Though keep in mind, the more yellowish your hair is after bleaching, the more green your hair will be after the blue fades. As soon as your hair is totally dry from the bleaching, blue the blue dye in right away. Right now your hair will be “thirtsy” from the bleaching so it will soak up the dye and will keep the color longer. My personal favorite color dye is Jerome Russels Punky Color:This is the best semi-permanent dye I've tried. Got it as Shopers Drugmart (you might be able to find it at Walmart, I'm not sure)Tip: use some cheap conditioner to help washout the dye. Your hair will still feel kinda stiff (or kinda like straw) from being bleached recently so it will stick and trap excess dye from washing out, the conditioner will make it slippery so more dye will come out the first rinse.Keep in mind any color dye will slowly come off, so use dark color towels you don't care about. If you want it to last longer make sure to use color protection shampoo and conditioner.Sorry this is such a long explanation! If you want more info you can private message me :D

Would dying my hair black to brown work?

Yeah, it'll work! First though, you need to strip your hair if the black is dyed, this takes out ALL chemical dyes out of your hair. They sell some at walmart, taget, walgreens, cvs, and rite aid. Then get your die, and die your hair the way you normally would. I would recomend something that is mo ve expensive rather than a really cheap one if ou are doing it yourself.

Hope that helped!

Can you put blonde dye over brown hair to make it lighter?

I did this before! Nope your hair goes a horrific orangey ginger colour. I, like her, thought it would make my hair a light brown or a dirty blonde. But to go from brown to blonde requires it to hit an orange stage first. At home dyes aren't strong enough to make it past the orange stage so it turns orange.
Please don't let her do this, she'll probably freak out like I did, throw it up and put a hat/hood on, and run to the store and get a dark brown dye. It's easier to just prevent it then fix it. If she wants lighter she could dye it a light brown, if she stays in the browns it probably won't turn orange.
