Will I Be Able To Learn To Drive

Will I be able to learn to drive in the navy?

The Navy won't teach you or pay for driving school.
I was in the exact same situation. I just never learned how to drive, so on my off duty hours I got a learner's permit. Then I took a week of leave and paid a driving company to give me lessons(5 one hour lessons will cost around $200) and then went to the DMV and was licensed.

The only part of the Navy helping you in any way is if you make friends that want to take you out driving.

Will I ever be able to drive?

Yes you are worrying far too much. Three weeks is nothing. You just need to relax and start enjoying driving. It gets easier with practise. And also you never stop learning even after passing your test. I have been driving for over half a century. I still enjoy it and I still learn more about avoiding the idiots on the road. So keep at it and you will find that it becomes second nature.

I feel like I'll never learn to drive a car?

You're probably just really nervous. If anything, just take big deep breathes in your nose and out your mouth. Relax, and take your time. Don't sweat it. Take it from someone that learned at age 10 and only drove a manual transmission vehicle their entire life. lol

I m not able to learn driving?

Well all you have to do is start the car with the gear on neutral . Then give a little gas first and keep your foot on the gas and then release the clutch as slowly and gently possible . But keep the gas speed constant . when i was 13 i was learning to drive a car and I had the same problem .Sometimes i would give too much gas or i would release the clutch too early . SO you have to give little gas and keep the gas pressed constantly and then realease the clutch gently and slowly as possible without panicking that is a key for driving. Try to practive the clutch release by first turning the car off. And then try it with the car started . In my opinion I guess you panic when realeasing the clutch but the main key is to hold the gas in constant speed and then release the clutch slowly and gently as possible .

Give it a try you will suceed inshallah

Can I learn to drive in 1 month?

So, I am 17 and turn 18 in less than a month. Due to reasons beyond my control (ie, my dad who literally hates me, and a few other reasons), I was never able to get my permit at 15, and so I never got my license at 17, yadda yadda yadda. however, I've always been planning to get my license the day I turn 18, or very soon after. And now especially I need a car, because I need a job. I've been looking for months, without much success cause there's not many stores I can walk/ride my bike to and the buses are very limited in my town. However, I talked to some people I know who run a bakery and they said if I got my license and had a vehicle. they would gladly hire me for about 30 hours a week.

So, my question is, can I learn to drive in a month? I'm planning on getting my permit tomorrow (haha I know.) and want to take my drivers license test by May 10. I can't remember many of the rules (signs I know just fine.) but I figure getting out on the road with the person who is helping me will make me learn all the signs/rules quickly.

And one more question, is it normal to be absolutely terrified of starting to drive? I mean, seriously, I tremble at the thought, I am so worried I'll get distracted, or not pay attention, or not react soon enough. Any advice?

Are deaf and dumb people allowed to learn to drive?

Yes Deaf people can drive. Driving is mostly visual. The only things that are audio when driving are emergency vehicles (which have lights) and car horns (and Deaf people are very visually aware and probably would not have a reason to be honked at...how many times do you get honked at?)

Should I learn to drive manual or automatic?

Rachel, you brought back a sweet memory of when I learned to drive. OUR parents (3 of us) had all of us learn to drive with manual transmission. You know, there WAS a time when there were no automatics! THEIR approach was that we were fully capable, and we would benefit. If you know how to drive a manual, an automatic is EASIER. So... we would be a step ahead of the game. When you only know an automatic... if you want the other, you have to go back and re-learn.
I think it is kind of your husband to offer selling his car.. but if you learn on that, it won't be necessary to sell it. Have not driven a manual in a long long time.. but I remember feeling that I had better control of the car.
Managing the clutch at first, sure seems annoying, but it is not long before it is second nature. It's just at first that it is so ackward, but make it a laughable thing.
Yes, the other way would be faster... but just opinion, I'd stick it out and learn both. As you say, it just gives you more options in the long run.
