Will I Get Nauseau From Playing Video Games

Why do I feel sick when playing video games?

Sometimes, I experience the same thing. According to the source that I found, sitting farther away from the screen so that it doesn't fill your field of vision. Also, experience often helps you get over it. It seems that after enough exposure to dizzying graphics, your brain learns that you don't die from poison every time you play a first-person shooter, and it lets you enjoy your fun. This works for me, though sitting farther away will be inconvenient for some games. It doesn't always happen to me so I just do it when I feel sick. I got used to it eventually.

Motion sickness while playing video games?

Ever since I was little I get motion sickness from video games. I don't get it from 2D games. I get it really bad from 3D shooter games- particularly Black Ops 2. I don't play them myself, but I'm always being subjected to it by being in the same room as someone who is. I end up leaving the room nauseous and dizzy.

Years ago someone said it was my eyes, that they weren't able to focus as fast as the game was moving. I do wear glasses but it doesn't help at all. I've tried the chewing gum trick, eating, all the lights on, and the other night I broke out the Dramamine.

I think the Dramamine worked. I felt my right eye get stuck on the background graphic until it disappeared (I was running the person around trying to induce the sickness I normally get), but I didn't get nauseous from it. The game I was using (Red Dead Redemption) doesn't make me too nauseaus while playing, so I really don't know if the Dramamine was working. I am going to test it tomorrow while at my Mom's, my sister is bad about flinging the in-game camera and making me seasick.

It seems rather silly to take medicine just to play a video game, or to save myself from feeling yucky when someone else is playing it in the same room as me. I don't like taking medicines personally. Is there anything else I could try?

Nausea while playing video games?

i get nauseous when i play first person shooters like wolfenstien ( the 2009 game) and i do throw up some times ... my tv is about 5-10ft away.. i do have reading glasses for when i play ... the room is some what well lit ... the tv is about 24ins .... im wonder why this is and what i can do make it stop and still play video games

Why do i get dizzy playing video games in the car?

The best cure for motion sickness is either eating a fresh orange (an Air Force Medic taught me this because I have severe motion sickness and it works) or eating ginger snaps. I'd try the orange first. It has to be a real orange. Not juice. Peel it in advance, and chill in cooler. At first sign of car sickness, eat orange. You might bring extra in case you need a second dose.
When you're in a car, the motion forces your eyes to constantly refocus when looking at something small, such as cell phone games or even reading, which is what causes the dizziness. The fact is, to prevent the dizziness, you'll have to find something else to do that isn't so small and requires so much focusing.

Should you avoid playing video games/using the computer when you're sick?

Depends on what kind of sick.If you have a bad cold or something, you could, but I would avoid any fast paced games, especially competitive ones, as you might notice that you’ll be a little slow and sluggish. You may also find the fast movement might be nauseating, so I’d avoid those. But if you have a game like Civilization, Divinity: Original Sin 2, XCom, or like Ryan Rynjah suggested in a comment, Skyrim, I would go play those. When I was younger I would play Minecraft when I was feeling like that. I wouldn’t anymore, because I have Civilization and Divinity, but you get the point. Casual slow games are great, especially if it’s a single player game with a good engaging story but not super fast pace gameplay. With those games it’s sort of like watching TV, but it’s far more engaging and they’re not as fast paced as other games, so you won’t feel like you’re lagging behind and there’s almost no chance it’ll make you feel nauseous. However, if you have anything more than a cold, like a really bad fever or a bad flu, I don’t recommend it. You should be resting, lay on the couch and watch a good comedy show that you enjoy. Keeps your spirits up. Typically if you have one of those you’d be better off staying off the games completely. I don’t think it’s good to play PC games at all when you’re that sick, cause if your stomach decides it doesn’t like it’s contents, it’s going all over your setup. In all honesty though, if there’s someone home with you, stay off. Even in the first scenario, people don’t understand just how relaxing games like Divinity or Civilization can be for someone who’s got a bad cold, so just stay off and follow the guidelines in 2. It won’t be nearly as fun, but it might be funny, depending on which movie/tv show you decide to watch.Hope this helps.

Why do I get headache and nausea after playing particular games?

Some people experience simulator sickness. It’s a disorientation between movements you see but do not feel. This can sometimes be caused by lack of certain nutrients in the body, or even dehydration. If this is something that does not clear up on it’s own you should consult a doctor. They may run some routine blood tests to ensure you are not nutrient deficient. They may also treat you with anti-nausea or anti-dizziness medication (similar to what’s used to treat sea sickness). Some people grow out of this, some don’t. There’s no way to know without consulting a doctor and trying again over time.I once experienced something similar to this. I’ve been playing games my whole life and suddenly started getting dizzy and headaches while playing.  Turns out I had an ear infection and the mineral salts responsible for balance were out of position. I took some anti dizziness medication and ear drops, for a couple of weeks and was sent to a physical therapist. The therapist taught me some basic sitting and laying positional exercises that help realign the inner ear salts over time. It was cured within a month. In a worst case scenario there are also certain types of epilepsy and neural disorders that are stimulated by flashing or changing light patterns. Early warning signs to these can be headaches while watching TV or games. These are rare and again, it’s going to be a doctor that can diagnose or treat these.Don’t panic, but be aware of any changes and discuss your symptoms with a doctor when you get the time.

Why do i feel sick after i play video games?

Lord, do I feel your pain on the insomnia part.

Anyway....

There are two possibilities here. The most likely one is that you have motion sickness, and the crazy action in the games that you play is triggering it. Certain games make me sick; I can't watch my friend play Ace Combat without wanting to puke my guts out, and first-person shooters are pretty much out of the question. The other option is that you have a mild form of epilepsy and the flashing lights in the game are triggering odd reactions from your brain....but you'd probably know by know if you really did have epilepsy.

Unfortunately, there's not very much you can do about this. How well-hydrated are you? Dehydration can sometimes trigger nausea and sweating (which seems backwards, but it's true). If you drink more water during the day, especially before you start playing the game, you might not have such bad symptoms. And it needs to be straight-up WATER, not soda or juice or that vitamin water stuff. The only other thing that might combat this is popping a motion-sickness pill every time you want to play, and that's not very good for your body.

Why do I get nausea or headaches in the car when I play video games or use my cell phone?

It's because your brain is receiving 2 different signals, one from your eyes which are focusing on your DS which is telling your brain that you are stationary, and another signal from the fluids in your inner ear telling your brain you are moving. These conflicting signals cause many people to feel ill if they read or do any other similar activity whilst in a moving vehicle.

Why do I get dizzy due to playing FPS games?

People tend to get motion sickness when their body feels motion but they aren't physically moving or see the motion. For example sitting in the back of a car on a curvy road. What you are experiencing is light simulator sickness. Your eyes are convinced the body is moving, but your body feels nothing. This disconnect can cause discomfort. If you having trouble with FPS games you can look for turning off any camera movement not directly caused by your control inputs. Not all games will support that though. Sometimes higher frame rates can help. Unfortunately there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution.
