Has anyone taken isotretinoin treatment for acne?
I was in class 7, when I started having severe acne. And all that my parents (and other elders) said is that it will go away on it's own after sometime. It was something very trivial to them and they didn't bother much. However, it was difficult for me because teenage is always difficult, obviously.I took special care of my face. I used a separate washed towel for face, never popped a pimple/acne, tried all those herbs like neem, turmeric, etc. It was all in vain.It stayed for almost 7 years, when finally I decided to consult a dermatologist. The first question the doctor asked me was "why didn't you come earlier?". So, he gave me isotretinion/accutane (Sotret) along with some creams and facewashes.The first month was a little painful, because it didn't show much improvement, rather, I saw increase in my pimples. But, I learnt that that's how it works. It forces the hidden pimples/acne out and then works on the sebum glands. The second month was moderate. On the third month, 80% pimples faded away. The fourth month, I had the skin of a model/actress. Maybe I am exaggerating, but compared to the skin I had, it was a miracle. The fifth, sixth and seventh month were quite similar. And (touchwood), it's been 10 years now since I took sotret, till date I didn't have any severe acne problem. Though, pimples may come and go due to stress, pollution, stomach disorders, etc.Now, the very important part of isotretinion is that "if you have other ways to cure your acne, do it, instead of isotretinion. This should be your LAST OPTION." Why? Because, prolonged use or improper use of Isotretinion can lead to many issues inside your body, like hormonal imbalance, fibroids/cysts, stress, cognitive problems, etc. Isotretinion stays in your blood for a long time, even after you stop taking the pills. It's dosage must be consulted by a good dermatologist and hence improvised by the doctor only. Most of the time, Acne/pimples are symptoms, which tell you there is something wrong inside your body. In most cases, it's either due to lack of hygiene or hormonal imbalance. Try to check on those first, if not, go for isotretinion under doctor's supervision. Also, there's a lotion/gel called clindamycin (I prefer Alkem's clindac A solution), it helps to dry/reduce pimples visibly.Isotretinion won't work on scars, for that you have to use scar fading gels/creams like mederma, or whatever is prescribed by the dermatologist. I took isotretinoin (Accutane) 7 years back. It made me sensitive to greasy food; actually oil in general. Now I can't take even a slight bit of oil. As soon as I take it, pimples pop up almost immediately. Is there a way to reverse the effect?
It's your illusion. You were having issues with oil that's why you got those pimples. Isotretinoin doesn't have such effect.Isotretinoin just stopped the display (pimples) while CPU (actual problem of oil) was still working inside you and having some add-on every day, once the effect of isotretinoin ended, your display was on again.I hope you understood!!!
Why does acne sometimes relapse after Accutane treatment?

I'am on accutane (Sotret).can i take a paracetamol tablet without consulting my doc?
this is my third month of taking Sotret (20 mg).I feel like am goin to catch a bad cold..and i got muscle ache too so i was wondering if i can pop a paracetamol (cold tablet) for prevention.
Is Accutane known for causing bad back pain?
My husband has been on Accutane for about 5 months now. He just recently started complaining about bad back pain and I was wondering if it is caused by the drug. He has had multiple side effects listed such as nosebleeds and very dry skin. I'm very worried about him, seeing all of these negative side effects it causes is very scary. I tried so hard to get him to not take it when his doctor recommended it, but he didn't listen to me. If anyone has any comment or advice, it will all be appreciated! I'd like to know of others stories or experience on this drug as well. Thank you!
Are Tattoos and Accutane really THAT bad?

It seems that the tattoo artists have trouble getting the ink to stay in the skin, and most tattoos done while the client is on accutane turn out horribly. Fading, scarring, and the need for numerous touch ups are common. Most articles I read state that you need to be off accutane for a minimum of 6 months before attempting any sort of body modification. If I were you I would rather be safe than sorry. A tattoo is on you for life and you don't want some crappy tattoo because you couldn't wait a couple of months for your body to flush out the medicine that ruined your tattoo. I understand the burning desire that comes with the want for a tattoo, but I would definitely take the safe route of waiting a while.
Has your acne come back after taking Accutane?
It didn’t 100% go away. It was a MAJOR improvement, but some small zits still persisted now and then. It never reached the pre-accutane levels, especially after I grew out of puberty.It is possible for acne to fully come back after Accutane, alas. Accutane is the strongest acne-medicine there is, but some strains of the Acne bacteria are still stronger.Something else to consider is “adult acne.” Alas, adulthood doesn’t mean you are free from acne, and a few people don’t even get acne for the first time until their 30s.
Does Isotretinoin cause joint pain?
Yes it can most definitely cause joint pain. In one documented case it put a boy in a wheelchair. I would listen to your doctor and quit it now.
