Will It Hurt To Get My Blood Drawn If I Have Cuts On My Wrists

Why doesnt it hurt when I cut my wrists?

ive cut my wrists a few times and it doesnt hurt me either :s if youve done it before you might just be used to it so you dont feel any pain? ive been mentoring and got help and been told that it doesnt hurt most of the time because your feelings or problems hurt more

How to get blood drawn without it hurting?

Those of us who have to draw blood do not want to hurt you. If I see that the veins are very small, or that they move around easily, I take precautions before I put in the needle. The only time drawing blood hurts is when it is difficult to find a good vein. This may then require several tries in order to get blood. However, for the average person off the street, drawing blood is almost painless. My patients usually don't even wince or make a face when the needle goes in. No big deal. If you have a needle phobia, that's a whole other story. Don't feel ashamed if you do, it's very common. A good hypnotherapist can cure that for you in probably one visit. And you'll never have it again. You'll be ahead of the game if you just "get rid of" your needle phobia, instead of fearing needles your whole life. Whenever you get sick, or, whenever you just want to see how your health is doing, getting your blood checked is a fantastic gift you can give to yourself. I check mine all the time. See a hypnotherapist.....fix it......move on with your life. No biggie.

How can you cut yourself and draw blood?

Before you start giving me the number to a suicide hotline, I'm not asking this so I can learn a way to cut myself. I'm doing a report in Health class and I can't find any information on this anywhere. i've been looking for two hours now, so if you could help it would be really appreciated. I was stupid and waited until the last minute to start working on this report. I need to know how you can cut yourself (with something like a knife, razor blade, etc) but draw blood?

I'm 12 and thinking about cutting my wrists. Will I bleed to death?

Everyone goes through periods like this. I myself have as well. DO NOT HURT YOURSELF! No matter what it is or how bad it seems it WILL get better! DO NOT HURT YOURSELF!National Suicide Prevention Lifelineor go to : Need Help? ← to access a website with all the info you will need.in answer to your question, if done properly, (or improperly as the case may be) then yes, you can experience fatal blood loss. It’s possible to bleed to death in a matter of minutes, based on how big, and where the incision is.

Does getting your blood drawn hurt & if you have a shoulder app do get draw blood?

It's highly unlikely that you will have to have any blood tests done for a shoulder problem.

If you haven't had blood tests done before, I wonder why you are so terrified - since you have had no experience. I think your fear feeds your fear, if you understand what I mean. The fear of the experience is greater than the pain (if there is any) of the actual event.

A good phlebotomist will be able to draw a blood sample without causing you any pain whatsoever. It will be over in 30 seconds or less. If there is any pain, it's going to be a whole lot less than your shoulder pain.

Question about blood draws...?

We don't just draw blood from veins that you can see.

The veins you can see are close to the surface. The veins you can feel are full of blood.

Preferably you would draw blood from a vein you can see AND feel (it is close to the surface and full of blood).

If you can't find those, you just have to find those veins you can feel.

Don't you worry about your veins. There isn't much you can do about it apart from trying to decrease your body fat percentage. This is a lot of hassle to go to just for the convenience of a phlebotomist. I'm sure you can find better reasons if you were going to do that.

Let doctors and phlebotomists (blood drawing technicians) worry about your veins.

Oh yeah - it's a HOT pack which tends to make the veins dilate. Cold packs tend to make your skin blood vessels close up!

I want to cut my wrists?

You have to wear long sleeve t-shirts..i know it sucks doesnt it? but thats what you kinda have to do..
I always cut my wrists (i stopped 4 weeks ago), and i took my headband and wrapped it around my wrists so they looked like bracelets.
I have been through this, you literally feel like you can't stop. like your addicted to it, i used to always slit my wrists, and cut my legs..it was relief.
Then i decided i wanted to stop cutting, i hated always covering them up, and when it was summer i had to keep wearing pants and jumpers, it was so bad i hated it.

i read somewhere online that when you want to cut yourself, put a rubber band on your wrists, and pull it back really far and let it go. It hurts. but it worked on me, after a while i found it fun..i stopped cutting and just always hurt myself with the rubber band, it left red marks all over my arms but they went away over time.
you should try this. it helps heaps.

You're not pathetic. :)
You should tell maybe one or two friends who you trust the most (if you want) and it might make you feel better to let it out.

half the reason i stopped cutting was because my friend told the guidance consular at my school when I was in grade 12, and they made a deal with me; They wont tell my parents about my self-harm at the time if I came to their office twice a week to check my arms/legs for cuts..if I had new cuts they would tell my parents.
I took away my razors/knives, because I knew if my parents found out they would be so mad at me.
it felt better to tell the consular though...it really helped.

good luck x

Can I really die if I cut my wrist?

If you are thinking about this you are either curious to see response like I was or you tried it. On June 16 of this year I got set off and in my thrust to not have a panic attack I took my anger out on myself and slammed my door. My door mirror fell off and I slammed it in to the floor multiple times. I suppose you could say I am suicidal but at that time I was just trying to get my anger out because I was set off. If your are thinking about this, do not. My mother would not drive me so I was forced to go with the person who set me off, and I got stitches with my mother by my side blaming my abusive father for it even though he did not set me off. I went back with the same person, and endedcl up having one of the worst panic attacks that I have had and my mother to this day will not blame who caused it. I 15, at the time 14. I slit my right wrist down to the tendon and my left down to the muscle. About 2 weeks later, my right wrist got infected with Mersa. I still have tendonitis and although I liked having stitches and getting sewed up (the experiance counts right) it was horrid. I have an abusive father who I do not live with. My mother and I do not get along and I have had so many panic attacks that I literally cannot count because of my mother's husband. I nearly wasted my life's trauma on making everyone that has ever wronged me (my whole family) suffer. I made my self suffer. Do not dare waste your life on what I did because I waited to bleed out and it did not happen. Sadly, I did not die, sadly, you are not likely to die. It did not hurt that badly but that day, sucked. If you have ever had a panic attack or gone bad shot crazy, it fucks with your emotional well being and physical well being. I have 3 more years to go and many more times on my knees not being able to breath at all and miserable. Do NOT kill yourself! Leave. Work yourself out of that situation. That is what I am doing. Scholarship, college, never go back. It is not realistic but it is doable. Take it from me.

Does getting a blood test hurt?

Not really. Like most things we are unfamiliar with, our minds play a large part in how we approach things and our attitudes toward them.

Keep a TIGHT fist (this will have a short circuit effect on the needle prick sensation) and a resolve to NOT let the minor sticking sensation of the needle bother you. Soon, you'll be an old pro at it.

In most cases, a good phlebotomist (that is what they are called, people who draw your blood) can get a blood sample out, and you on the way, with ABSOLUTELY NO discomfort at all.

NOW! The real problem is in FAILING a urine test. Ya gotta be really dumb to fail THAT test. :--)

How to not be scared when drawing blood?

There is nothing to be scared of. I have had my blood drawn hundreds of times and it is not bad at all. Depending on your phlebotomist and how good your veins are you may feel nothing or you may feel a small bit of pain. It is nothing to be scared of though, as if it does hurt it only lasts for a second when the needle is actually going into the skin. Once the needle is in the vein and the blood is flowing it is painless.

There is nothing to be scared of, however, people often naturally hold their breath while their blood is being taken. Don't do that! If you hold your breath you may become lightheaded and pass out.

Just stay calm and breathe. There is nothing to be scared of.
