How can I tell if my monitor is 1080p?
Either look for the model on the internet to check the specification or look at the packaging to see whether it is 1080p or not.Another thing you can do is just hook it up to a computer and check the native resolution. For my laptop it is saying the recommended is 1920*1080 so yes it is a 1080p display.Simple note however:1280*720 is 720p which often times marketed as HD.1920*1080 is 1080p(That “p” might change with refresh rate) which is usually refereed to as Full HD.

If your monitor has a speaker and your are using a hdmi cable, then yes you will have the soundBut if it has a vga and your using hdmi to vga or even vga ; you will still have sound unless your monitar does not have a speaker or sound output.By then use your own sound output

Another detail that you need to know is if the screen will give you full HD? This one will NOT, because it's maximum resolution is only 1440x900, which is enough for 720p HD, but not enough to give full 1080p HD resolution. Basically, it means your screen will work for 720p but 1080p can be selected on the PS3, without it actually giving native full HD graphics. The price for one screen of this type is half what you said, unless you buying two. The screen is good for gaming. I would advise you get the best PC LCD - Viewsonic. Get a 22" model with full HD support or any model above 22" size, as it will definitely have full 1080p native support.
