Have the Republicans gotten over the November elections yet?
The GOP got pretty comfortable in power, and they're not reacting well to losing. What they fail to understand is how others perceive them. Their obstructionism and whining are driving people toward the Democrats, rather than attracting support for their own party. If they can't appeal to moderate voters, they won't win any more elections, either. They need to: 1) Admit that Bush's policies were a huge series of mistakes; 2) Shut Dick Cheney up; 3) Distance themselves from extremists like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter; 4) Quit complaining about the new man; 5) Roll up their sleeves and help the country recover from Bush's blunders; 6) Find some moderate leaders who can help redefine their political positions - war, theocracy, homophobia, racism, and corporate toadyism aren't coming back; 7) Shut Dick Cheney up.
The way we look at parties in the United States is artificial and does not represent the people. The natural divide is between more government intervention verses less. The Democrats are often lumped into the first category while the Republicans are often lumped into the secondary category but that is false. I think of citizens in the United States as having one or more (usually two) of the following attributes.These are handy titles I am using. I am uninterested in a discussion of their meaning. That is not the intention of this article. This is also not a discussion of Classical Liberalism.Fiscal conservatives wish to minimize government involvement in general.Social conservatives wish to maximize government control over our private lives.Fiscal liberals wish to maximize government involvement in general.Social liberals wish to minimize government involvement in our lives.The logical split would be between those who wish for more government involvement verses less but that is not the split we have. For example, Rand Paul (I know he has an issue with abortion), a governmental minimalist, is in the same party as Mike Huckabee, who I privately think of as a "socialist who goes to church". Look at his thoughts and you will quickly find he loves government involvement but dislikes gay marriage and abortion. How can these both be Republicans?It takes money and force to control people and that is what the social conservatives and the socialists have in common ; I believe a lot in common. Either you wish to forcibly take my money against my will using people with guns, if necessary, to forcibly promote a policy, again, with guns as necessary, or you don't.The old Whig party (Lincoln's initial party) was a party for federal intervention while the Democrats were federal government minimalists (oh, the irony!). The Whig party became split between pro-slavery and anti-slavery. When the Civil War crisis started to loom, the pro-slavery Whigs went to the Democratic Party, with its anti-federal stance, including the stance that the federal government should not be able to forbid slavery. The anti-slavery Whigs formed the Republican Party.I could see something of the same here. I don't know what the parties will be called but I believe they will morph in to or be replaced by these two new party positions.
I believe both think they are for the people, but their approaches are different. Here is an analogy: Liberals are like mothers and Conservativea are like fathers. If a child falls while playing a game the mother will pick them up kiss their boo boo, put medicine on it and a band aid on it. If the child cry’s too much and it is a mild scrape or cut, they will keep the child out of the game and coddle then, even though the team needs them on the field. On the other hand, a father with pick the child up, brush off the dirt, and seeing that it is a mild cut and tell them to get back into the game. Who cares more for the child? Who does better for the child? Liberals want to take care of people from the cradle to the grave at the expense of society. And like that mother wants to keep a close eye on everything they do. She is the last to let them go and leave the nest. Conservatives want people to do for themselves so they will not be a burden on society which is better for everyone. Fathers will help their children to a point and then the child must do for themselves. Of course this is an oversimplified example, but is true. Liberals are all about feelings, and how something looks. Who thinks a house is clean? If you ask a mother it is never clean and if someone comes over you have to clean it up because what would people think. Fathers will say, it looks good to me and who cares what people think. What liberals do depends on how it looks and if it is has a nice feeling to it. Conservatives do what they think is best for the persons ability to achieve on their own, whether is it nice or not. Liberals want a nanny state and conservatives what people to do for themselves. The nanny cost money. Doing for yourself saves and add money to the society. They both are for the people, but they try to do in different ways.
Most definitely the democrats are out of touch. They proved it in the 2016 elections. They were totally FLOORED that Hillary lost. And she lost because she catered to the elite rather than to the average Americans ( who she labeled DEPLORABLES).The democrats pushed identity politics onto folks who’ve lost jobs and were just trying to survive. But rather than emphasize with them, she looked down her nose and called them DEPLORABLES.And they still don’t understand why she lost. Why not only Hillary but 1,000 other elected seats around the country, including many governorships.Hillary is a snob, and it shows. She has no regard for anyone who’s not from the big cities and coastal areas. She caters to the Hollywood celebs and the big money on Wall Street.And yet, the democrats are still pushing their agenda that nobody wants. They will spit down upon the DEPLORABLES again, and yet again, they will lose.The democrats used to be the party of the blue collar worker. The mom and pop businesses, the average Joe who carries his lunch pail to work. Instead they now cater to Madonna, Mariah Carey, GEORGE Clooney, Angelina Jolie’s, etc.Nobody cares about what these rich snobbish celebrities think as they surround themselves with guards carrying guns while they deny the average American the right to own weapons for their own protection.The democrats won’t change and they’ll lose again. And again. And again.
Why is youth unemployment being ignored by both Republicans and Democrats?
Of course the argument from Republicans seems to be that the youth are just lazy, and that's why they can't find a job despite double diget unemployment for 16-24 year olds. 15 percent unemployment, it isn't rocket science to understand why youth unemployment is a long-term problem. 1: The workforce is aging, meaning those who are older are going to eventually age out of the workforce. Yet there wont be enough skilled workers to replace them, because the current batch of young employees aren't learning the skills needed to replace them. They are either unemployed, or underemployed. 2: The economic benefits of having employeed young people is simple. They buy stuff. They buy stuff more than any other age group. If they don't have money, they aren't buying stuff. Which means less growth. Again, this isn't rocket science and yet the youth unemployment problem is largely ignored by both parties.

Why are there so many Republicans on Yahoo Answers?
Maybe you should ask why so many news sources, INCLUDING the poll takers, are heavily Democratic? Give us the source of the polls, and I can almost bet they're not unbiased. Polls are mostly shams, anyway, because people can bias them easily enough by skewing the questions. If you can name some independent Pollsters, I'd like to know them. There are a few, but for the most part, they're mainstream news media, which means >>> Liberal <<<. I've received calls from poll-takers before here around DC, and instead of asking me the questions first, many times they're looking for a specific demographic, ie type of lifestyle or age or political affiliation. So instead us just asking the questions, they preface it with who did you vote for in the last election? When I reply Republican, I've always been hung up on. So who's taking the polls, Conservatives, or Liberals? Uh, right. Not MY guys! And they're skewing the results by not asking random callee's, but they're searching for those who agree with them, so they'll get a more specific result to their liking. As to why so many of us Republicans are on Answers - well, we're full of them, we're educated and we do care alot, regardless of false Democratic impressions, and we like facts, not just feelings, about specific political questions that need to be addressed. And not the false and mis-leading ideas coming from skewed polls by liberal news sources, either. When you think about it, almost all news sources are NOT Conservative ( give me any other than Fox you can think of ). Any? See, all the mainstream is Liberal, ie, the OTHER way, so we tend to hang around AM Radio and yahoo to give others more truthful news and views than you'll get from LMM.
