Will This Immigration Crisis At The Border Ever Be Solved

Will the democrats' opposition to border control cost them the 2020 election?

Very much so!

What is the "U.S. border crisis" and how can it be fixed?

The crisis is that the present admin has allowed there to be open borders without any action being taken.  It is his "lead from behind" plan of leadership. The way to solve the problem is simple...BUILD A FENCE a BIG FENCE with razor wire.  Then build a double or triple fence if necessary.

Pros and Cons for Intercept Illegal Immigrants at the Border?

Well dealing with immigration is a big issue that requires a broad solution.

1. You can stop some people at the border. But the problem is others travel on a valid passport and visa and just never leave. Others get across without being caught.
2. Yes, punish employers rather than the immigrants. Some countries have no punishment for employing illegals.
3. To get a job you need a social security number. Which means that many illegals obtain fake numbers.
4. Should we punish children who didn't make a choice to come to the US. Yes, on one hand it would reduce immigration, but it would also create more crime amongst illegals. Same with Arizona law. The police have to check a suspicious person's immigration status by law now. In Los Angelos the police have a policy of not enforcing immigration law or they would not be able to get cooperation from illegals in criminal cases. Arizona law will just increase the crime rate in illegal communities. I would suspect that some time soon they will create a special Latino crime squad who are exempt from enforcing the new immigration law.
5. This is ok, but many will come and overstay anyway, as they do now on tourist visas.
6. Helping Mexico fix their problems will help. Not just aid, but law enforcement and economic cooperation helps.

Even with all these you won't stop poor people wanting a better life for many years to come. If illegals become rarer, their pay rate goes up, and of course more people want to go to the US.

the world is in an immigration crisis now...more people than every before are living, studying and working abroad. The rules become tougher isn't slowing this down. The borders will have to come down.

PS: if only the texans had kept the yankee immigrants out, this may be a very different debate.
