Where is the TV show Longmire filmed?
Although set in Wyoming, Longmire is filmed predominantly in New Mexico. The show is based out of Garson Studios on the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, with exteriors done on location throughout the northern part of the state including Santa Fe, Red River, Albuquerque, Pecos, and Eagles Nest. The New Mexico Film Office works pretty hard to lure projects to the state (e.g. Breaking Bad).
What are the best novels or TV shows you have read or watched that are similar to the TV show "Lost" in terms of plot complexity?
One of the works that "Lost" plumbed for material has that kind of complexity: The "Illuminatus!" trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson. "Lost" got the bit about the heroin smuggled in the church statues from that novel, which is one clue that The Island is Fernando Poo, where that bit was set in "Illuminatus!" "Illuminatus!" is also told out of order, like "Lost". I became friendly with both of the authors before their deaths, having been introduced by mutual friends/fans. "Illuminatus!" is a hoot, and has been influential in Hollywood a lot, but is so difficult that you need to get over a hump of resistance before you find it fun. "Smallville" the TV series didn't have such great plot complexity, but at least the first couple years, when creators Gough & Millar (makers of the Jackie Chan "Shanghai" movies) were writing it, it was packed with hilarious allusions to all sorts of stuff from history and fiction that you need the knowledge and multiple viewings to catch. And it dripped with irony. Started to get boring in season 3, then it lost my interest entirely with Millar & Gough no longer involved. "Lost" had more to it than possibly anyone but me realized. See http://users.bestweb.net/~robgoo... . The plot was not only complex, but hidden -- yet solvable! Loaded with allusions (which also provided clues) from fact, fiction, stage, TV, movies, comics, even music, heavy on British sources. "Lost" continued a pattern with me that "Smallville" set, where I'd be watching a bit the 2nd or 3rd time and bust out laughing as I "got" something. "Foucault's Pendulum" by Umberto Eco's fairly long and complex too, but I wonder whether the seeming complexity is just a result of its volume and detail. I'm reading his "The Name of The Rose" now, long and detailed but I'm not sure how complex it will turn out. Similarly, "Station 11" is long, nonlinear, and detailed, but I don't think it's really complex; same with "Watchmen". But complexity is hard to quantify. I guess if it's hard enough to follow, that's complex, so "Foucault's Pendulum" is that.
What film TV show/book that you have watched/read had the best structure and plot?
The Breaking Bad pilot is as exciting to read as it is to watch. Here are the plot points that come to mind:Meet Walter White, a high school teacher with money problems, a special needs son, and a baby on the way. He could have been great, and while reminiscing about that just-missed opportunity, he faints.Problems escalate with a cancer diagnosis. How’s he going to pay for that?Brutish brother-in-law introduces Walt to the lucrative world of meth manufacturing. Walt meets a former student who is similarly having money problems.Walt decides to under go a change, just like the chemical processes he talks about in class, and makes some meth to make some cash. The first drug deal goes poorly, resulting in Walt’s being forced to choose between killing or getting killed.Woven into those intense moments are the very relateable problems any man, husband, and father has to deal with.We sympathize with Walter and hope he can figure this out. And we watch in horror as the train wreck of his decisions unfolds as the story progresses.Reading a script can be weird but, once you get used to it, and the strength of Vince Gilligan’s writing takes hold of your imagination, it becomes a page turner. Just as watching the pilot on TV was both mesmerizing and thoroughly entertaining, a deft mix of beautiful cinematography, humor, and exciting action.Go read it, and go watch it.Rinse, repeat.

When someone is wearing a mic for filming a TV show, does it pick up the passing of gas (farts)? If so, is it edited out in post?
The answer to this would most certainly be yes. If the mic is sensitive enough, there must have been incidences of flatulence being picked up by accident. Yes, it would be edited out.Plenty of articles out there detailing gassy celebrities. This is just one of them. Enjoy.9 Celebrities Who Are Not Shy About Farts & Own Their Flatulence
Can you name a character (from TV, film, books, etc) who had done despicable things but who ultimately redeems themselves?
I’d say Game of Thrones is full of characters that fit that bill. The biggest example of this redemption theme would be Jaime Lannister. He has killed people on a lark, done horrible things to both his allies and his enemies, including the king he was sworn to guard with his life, earning him the insult “Kingslayer”. The first episode of the show shows him trying to murder a 10-year old boy because he saw something that would have incriminated Jaime and his sister. As the show goes on, you find out his true heart, the reason why he killed his king, his true desire to be a good knight instead of an oathbreaker. He is not a fully good character, but he isn’t a fully despicable one either. In the same series, Theon Greyjoy would be another example. Jorah Mormont is as well. I could go on and on, but you should really see the series if you haven’t already.
What breed is Walt Longmire's "Dog"? from the author Craig Johnson?
author Craig Johnson has written numerous mystery books with Sheriff Walt Longmire from Wyoming as the main character. Walt has a dog he calls "Dog". I am reading Mr. Johnson for the first time. "The Dark Horse" seems well into the series so "Dog" is not identified except that he has a big head and a bullet furrow across it. So curiosity sent me all around the web trying to find the breed. Finally, I thought, hey! Yahoo Answers! just might be the place. Anybody?
What are some good character driven shows?
Lol I just recommended 'Parenthood' in a previous question, but I'll do it again, because it's awesome. It's entirely character driven with stellar performances and deals with issues that are very real-based. Brought me to tears more than a few times. Another good one is 'Brothers & Sisters'. You can never go wrong with Sally Field, and this one is ALL about the character's and their situations. They go through a lot, and while it's more about the drama sometimes, it's still a good watch.
